- Jeweller has 14 years of training
- All services are performed in-house
- Offer lifetime guarantee for cleaning and checking
- Virtual consultations are available
- Online booking available
- Free engraving
- Multiple payment methods accepted
- Has an online store
Cons

Liam Ross established Jewellery by Liam Ross in 2009 after having trained with first-class Scottish jewellers for 14 years. What we love about his company is that their items are personally and hand-crafted in-store at their workshop.
Having said that, all of their services are performed in-house, too, for extra peace of
mind. These include cleaning, repairs, remodelling, and even bespoke designing.
We like that you can shop their selection via their website. All the necessary product information is readily available, and you can even choose your desired item’s weight, type of metal, and add free engraved text.
Though, if you’re indecisive, we like that you can easily book an appointment via their website for an hour-long consultation.
If you have a bespoke design in mind, you’ll get to chat with Ross himself about your ideas. Alternatively, you can schedule a virtual call via Zoom or FaceTime if you can’t pop by.
We think this is an added convenience given that they’re only open from Tuesdays through Saturdays.
In our experience, we love how Ross and his team took the time to listen to what we wanted and gave us honest advice and insights along the way. To boot, the amount of care they show each piece is second to none, in our opinion.
Getting your jewellery here also includes a life-long guarantee for checking and cleaning. So, you won’t have to worry about sourcing maintenance elsewhere.
We also like that they accept various payment methods for added convenience. These include Maestro, MasterCard, Visa, Visa Electronic, and AMEX.
2. ROX

Pros
- Open daily
- Authorised stockist and dealer for several brands
- Uses conflict-free diamonds
- Penalty-free appointment cancellations
- Online appointment booking available
- Online shopping available
- Offers finance and multiple payment methods
Cons
- Stock errors on website
- No virtual consultations
If you enjoy luxurious shopping experiences, then we definitely recommend checking out ROX.
Their jewellery is encased in sophisticated displays that will encourage you to shop ‘til you drop. But if that isn’t your style, they have several comfortable chairs for laidback shopping.
As a nice touch, they also provide refreshments such as champagne, soda, and beer. Apart from that, their staff are incredibly hospitable, too, which made us feel attended to.
ROX is also well-known for its artisan designers, taking more than 30 hours to handcraft each diamond engagement ring. So, it’s no surprise that many flocks to their store to get their hands on a few pieces.
Speaking of diamonds, did we mention that theirs is conflict-free? This means that they source their gems from suppliers whose profits don’t go to support conflict and war.
ROX is also an authorised stockist and dealer for several popular brands such as Chopard, Audemars Piguet, and Jacob & Co. Hence, clients are assured of authentic and high-quality pieces.
We think it’s handy that they’re open daily, so you can pop by at your most convenient time. If you can’t make it to your appointment, simply cancel and schedule it without penalty.
If that’s not possible, you can easily order online via their website. However, we do have to warn you that some items appear to be available but are really out of stock.
Understandably, this has upset a few clients who have already checked out and paid. Since this is an avoidable inconvenience, we hope they address it ASAP.
It was also a tad disappointing that they don’t provide virtual consultations. This is an added convenience that many other shops have begun employing.
It’s also great that they offer a variety of payment methods such as Visa and Mastercard. It’s worth noting that they offer interest-free credit, which helps make their items more affordable.

Pros
- Owner studied diamond grading at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA)
- Owner trained at the De Beers
- Offers no-obligation fittings
- Staff are professional, patient, and helpful
- Online shopping available
Cons
- Closed on Sundays and Mondays
- Online booking not available
After completing his studies in diamond grading at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Daniel Henderson trained at the De Beers in London. There, he learned all there is to know about diamonds and wedding rings.
In 2011, he opened his company, Daniel Henderson Jewellers, where he specialises in manufacturing engagement and wedding rings.
While they offer a selection of beautiful rings on their website, they also accommodate custom designs. While they don’t have an online booking system, you can easily set an appointment by ringing them the old-fashioned way.
We like that they provide a no-obligation fitting service. In our opinion, one of the best ways to see if you want a piece is to try it on, right?
It’s also worth mentioning that their staff are incredibly patient and helpful, which helps alleviate any stress.
A few clients we’ve spoken to also raved about how their staff are complete professionals, answering all queries, even the silliest ones – without batting an eyelash.
On top of that, they also offer several services such as engraving, sizing, and polishing, to name a few. We love the convenience and peace of mind this brings as clients won’t have to go elsewhere.
It may take a week or two before you get your item returned. So, we encourage you to plan ahead if you’re eyeing getting your items serviced for a special event.
It’s a tad inconvenient that they’re closed on Sundays and Mondays, so take this information into account, too.
4. The Tappit Hen

Pros
- 4 decades in business
- Offer an array of traditional and modern Scottish jewellery
- All purchases are gift wrapped in a box
- Worldwide shipping available
- Flexible payment options available
- Stellar customer service
Cons
- Only open from Wednesdays through Saturdays
- Designs may not be to everyone’s liking
The Tappit Hen has spent four decades manufacturing traditional and modern Scottish and Celtic jewellery. All of their pieces are locally hand-made, which we think is a beautiful way to pay homage to Scottish culture.
However, we admit that some of these designs may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
It’s worth noting that all of their pieces are hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office. So, you won’t have to worry about the quality or authenticity of your jewellery.
As a nice touch, all purchases also come with a luxurious box and signature wrapping paper. In our opinion, they get a brownie point for a stellar presentation.
For added convenience, they also ship worldwide if you want to send these to loved ones abroad.
Since you can only find their items at their Edinburgh store or on their website, they’re sought-after by many travellers looking to take a piece of Scotland back home.
In matters of payment, it’s handy that they accept several payment options. These include Maestro, Mastercard, and PayPal, among others.
However, we think accessibility may be an issue given that they’re only open from Wednesdays to Saturdays.
Though, we think their strong attention to detail makes up for it. Specifically, many client testimonials shared that their staff go above and beyond to ensure that clients are looked after.
In our experience, their staff were incredibly helpful, from providing plentiful options to managing any changes we wanted to be made.

Pros
- Open daily
- Conveniently located at the Gyle Shopping Centre
- Have an in-house diamond room
- Carries several high-end brands
- Online appointment setting available
- Accepts several payment methods
- Interest-free financing available
- Puts some items on sale
Cons
- Limited collection options
- No virtual consultations
What we love about Beaverbrooks is its inventory of several high-end brands. These include Boss, Gucci, Michael Kors, Vivienne Westwood, and many more.
Did we mention that they also have an in-house diamond room? Like in every girl’s dream, they have an array of diamonds and jewellery from brands such as Hearts on Fire and Maple Leaf Diamonds.
Though, we have to admit that their collection options are quite limited. Nevertheless, we still think they’re the ideal jewellery shop to visit if you’re looking for a luxurious selection.
As for appointment settings, you can do so via their website via their booking system. We like that you can indicate the purpose and additional details upon scheduling.
This helps their staff prepare all the necessary resources, such as jewellery options, before your consultation. However, they don’t offer virtual consultations, much to our dismay.
We also love that their store is located at the Gyle Shopping Centre for easy access. So, you can expect wheelchair and pram access around the area.
To boot, there’s also free car parking available and nearby public transportation options.
For added convenience, they also accept several payment methods such as PayPal, cash, and credit.
They also offer a few interest-free financing options to make their items more affordable. Apart from that, they have a sale section worth exploring, too, if you’re on the hunt for good deals.
