A local family-run business, Barricade Pest Control exterminates a wide variety of pests – from cockroaches to bedbugs – using effective techniques.
As for their qualifications, they’re members of the National Pest Technicians Association, Prompt Register, and have an RSPH Qualified – Level 2 Award in Pest Management. So, clients are assured that their practices are approved by the necessary governing bodies.
They follow Think Wildlife’s best practices for the safe use of rodenticides, which means that their techniques and methods are practiced with sensible caution.
Clients that are businesses (such as hotels and restaurants) can enjoy the convenience of their contract pest control for as low as £20 monthly. This means they’ll stop by as frequently as agreed upon to ensure that establishments are as clean as can be.
We were also impressed to find that they do pest-proofing after each service. This shows us that they also focus on effective long-term strategies to keep pests away from clients’ houses.
It’s great that they also do same-day call-outs, which also include same-day wasp nest removal. This definitely deserves top marks from us as clients won’t have to wait long.
Unfortunately, they’re closed on the weekends, so if you’re in need of immediate assistance you may want to consider the other options on our list.
They also don’t mention anything regarding guarantees on their services. So, if pests return to clients’ homes, they’ll have to book another appointment for extermination.

- Has disinfectant/insecticide fogging treatments
- Members of the National Pest Technicians Association, Prompt Register, and BPCA
- RSPH Qualified
- Follows Think Wildlife’s best practices for the safe use of rodenticides
Cons

What we like most about Tae A Moose Pest Control Services is their abundance of qualifications. In particular, they’re members of a number of professional pest control associations.
This shows us how seriously they take into consideration expanding their current knowledge and skills by being a part of organisations that contribute to their ability to perform their job well.
Speaking of their job, we appreciate the wide variety of pests that they handle, from the usual cockroaches to even squirrels.
They also follow Think Wildlife’s best practices for the safe use of rodenticides. This reassures us that they’re using the proper technique and methods in every job.
Oh, did we mention that they’re open daily? This definitely gets a plus from us as clients can simply phone in any day of the week.
It’s also worth noting that they also offer disinfectant/insecticide fogging treatments. We think that this additional layer of protection against flies, cockroaches, and other pests will come in handy for extra cautious clients.
We also like that this service can be done outside of work hours, so it doesn’t disrupt clients’ business.
On the flip side, we were a tad disappointed that they didn’t offer a service guarantee that protects clients from failed exterminations should pests return.

Pros
- 30 years of industry experience
- Members of the National Pest Technicians Association
- Fully insured
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Does not offer commercial pest control
Wee Critters Pest Control Services is a family-run business that has over 30 years of experience dealing with a variety of common household pests such as moths, wasps, cockroaches, mice, and bed bugs.
So, it’s no surprise that they’re the go-to of many local homeowners. Some clients we’ve gotten in touch with praised their team for their responsiveness and how they offer value for money.
However, unlike other companies, they don’t offer commercial pest control services.
On a brighter note, we find it reassuring that when clients phone in, they’re met with a well-informed receptionist that can readily give them advice, a fair quote, and sort out their appointment. This way, clients already have a better idea of what to expect.
It’s also nice that they’re open as late as 10 PM, which is quite a good tradeoff for not being open on weekends.
Another thing we looked into was their qualifications. We’re happy to report that they’re members of the National Pest Technicians Association, so they have access to a tonne of resources to better their pest control methods.
They also get plus points for being fully insured, which definitely helps instill more confidence in clients in the event that things go awry.

Pros
- Offers free detailed pest risk assessment and site inspection
- Does pest-proofing
- Holds a number of accreditations
- Fully insured
- Wide pest coverage
- Open 24 hours daily
Cons
- No mention of service guarantee
If holding plenty of accreditations is part of your personal criteria, it’s worth highlighting that Pest Solutions has over 10 different accreditations from various governing bodies. Meanwhile, their technicians are trained to BPCA Level 3 Advanced Technician or greater.
To us, this definitely speaks volumes about how highly they set the bar for quality service, which they’re able to translate into their work.
Speaking of, they offer a variety of pest control packages, which are customised depending on the client. We like how each plan is tailored to specific needs and requirements, too, which shows how much thought they put into presenting complete solutions for every pest problem.
What we love about their services is that before anything else, they conduct a free detailed pest risk assessment and site inspection to evaluate exactly what they’re dealing with.
We find this essential in determining their exact approach, as well as giving them a fair and clear basis for their quotations. However, we were a wee bit sad that they didn’t mention anything about a service guarantee.
On a brighter note, they do pest control on an impressive variety of animals, from common household ants to garden moles. Hence, we definitely have to give it to them in terms of range.
They’re also open 24 hours daily, so clients don’t have to wait until the next working day to schedule an appointment or have the extermination done.

Pros
- Members of the National Pest Technicians Association and BPCA
- Follow Think Wildlife’s best practices for the safe use of rodenticides
- Offers free site inspection
- Fully insured
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- No mention of service guarantee
Edinburgh Environmental Services is a member of the National Pest Technicians Association and BPCA. To us, this means that quality isn’t compromised and that clients should expect top-notch professionalism from start to finish.
Like other entries on this list, they also follow Think Wildlife’s best practices for the safe use of rodenticides. This indicates that they’re well-aware of the necessary techniques and behaviours of different pests to properly use rodenticides with as minimal damage as possible.
Since they curate riddance programs per client, they offer a free site assessment to survey the area and problem at hand to give a corresponding quote.
We appreciate that they take the time to carefully evaluate the situation and provide a tailored treatment plan depending on the intricacies of each case.
This is probably the reason why many clients we’ve gotten in touch with praised the effectiveness of their pest control. Some even claim to have their pests completely gone after just two sessions, which is nothing short of amazing.
Aside from a speedy turnover, they’re also quick to arrive during call-outs, which will definitely come in handy during emergencies. However, they aren’t open during weekends – a bit of a bummer, if you ask us.
We were also disappointed that they didn’t mention any service guarantee. While their services have a stellar reputation, we think a guarantee would have given customers a lot more confidence in their services.
