SpeedyWashes is a no-frills laundry service on Baker Street. Though relatively new, having just opened in 2022, it’s already well-loved by locals for its excellent customer service and consistent performance. 

If you enjoy doing laundry yourself, you’ll love their high-capacity modern equipment, capable of handling everything, from delicates to blankets. The cherry on top? You can chuck in a full load at just £6. Just don’t forget your own soap and basket, and you’re good to go. 

There’s just one little downside: dryer costs can add up, depending on how wet your clothes are and if you’ve got lots to dry or bulky items. That said, you only pay for what you use, so lighter loads won’t break the bank.

But if you’re like me who can’t be trusted to separate colours from whites, their good service wash is a lifesaver. Loads are washed, dried, folded, and smelling great, ready for collection. 

Speaking of, they offer collection and delivery services within a 5-mile radius. The convenience doesn’t stop there–they accept cash and card, too. And the fun part is that the owners offer tea and coffee while you wait. Isn’t that just the sweetest?

Neon Laundry is one of our favourites as it offers great value, especially for larger items that are a pain to wash at home. Duvets, beddings, sleeping bags, you name it, they’re a powerhouse when it comes to handling these.

We also enjoy the flexibility. You can stick to their DIY for smaller loads or if you want to keep costs low, or go for their full-service when convenience matters more. 

What made them really stand out, though, is their dependability. When I needed some clothes washed, dried, and folded in time for a trip, they had everything ready for me later that same afternoon. They’re honestly like fairy godmothers for laundry emergencies.

Even then, they aren’t perfect. The £14 minimum charge for wash-and-fold can take a hit on your wallet if you only have a small bag of clothes. Hence, it’s worth saving up your laundry until you’ve got a full bag to make it worthwhile.

Also, take note of their short Sunday hours (10 AM to 2 PM), which won’t suit everyone’s schedule. The good news is that you can arrange pick-up and delivery by filling up a simple form through their website.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but no penguins are actually running the machines at Penguin’s Laundry. And sadly, none own the place either. What you will find is a no-nonsense laundry spot where you can get a proper wash done. 

Our favourite part? Their speedy turnaround. I dropped off a couple duvet sets and they were ready to be collected the next day. And the price? I’d say it’s quite reasonable, especially for larger, bulker items. 

Their knack for handling delicate items also impressed us, whether it was tricky stains or wedding dresses that needed extra care. Even then, results can be mixed, with some happy customers while others have mentioned less-than-perfect results.

The up side? They’ve got something special up their sleeve: ozone treatments. Think of a fabric spa day that can freshen things up by tackling bacteria and funky odours, perfect for giving your items a new lease of life.

If you’re on the hunt for a one-stop laundry shop, then look no further, as Johnsons The Cleaners offers virtually everything, from your everyday laundry needs to alterations and repairs. 

That said, we appreciate their quick turnaround, with coats cleaned by the end of the week. You can even let them know if you need something done by a specific date, and they’ll usually do their best to meet it. This is definitely a big help, especially during wardrobe emergencies. 

Though we will admit that there are inconsistencies in the results, depending on the item, staff, and how busy it is. On the bright side, the staff are accommodating and offer advice, especially if a stain looks like it may not come out. 

In terms of value, we’d say their prices are reasonable for common jobs, like dry-cleaning coats or ironing dress shirts. The results are great, and you get what you pay for. However, we can’t say the same for bulky or complex items with tricky stains as additional fees can add up.

What makes Rosemount Drycleaners one of my personal favourites? The quality of their work. They have a way of making clothes look fresh again, even those difficult items that are trickier to treat. 

Aside from their attention to detail, their staff are also great at handling garments like blazers and textured fabrics such as kilts. That said, there are some items that can’t be fully fixed, but the staff are honest about it and will let you know what to expect.

That’s not all, we feel that the prices are fair given the quality. Hence, it’s no surprise that many come back. Even better, the staff are quick on their feet with a fast turnaround even at short notice. I can’t tell you how reliable they are when you need something done quickly.

Even then, it will still depend on the complexity of the cleaning and how busy they are. It doesn’t help that their hours are limited, so it’s best to plan ahead.
