Liggy’s Cake Company offers both pre-designed cakes and bespoke creations, which seem to be their forte. With their bespoke service, they have this unique “sketch up” process.

This is a fun touch where you not only get to visualise the design but also receive a framed keepsake of the sketch alongside your cake. It’s little details like this that impressed us.

Their “Tea & Cake” consultations also got a lot of love! Couples shared how relaxed and enjoyable the process was, from flipping through their portfolio to sampling delicious cake flavours. 

They also gladly accommodate any dietary needs—another plus in our books! We’re just a bit iffy about the scheduling of their tasting sessions.

A few clients noted that acknowledging a preferred date for the “Tea & Cake” consultation occasionally takes longer than expected.

On the plus side, other past clients highlighted how their cakes are packaged beautifully and delivered in pristine condition.

Cake Box in Edinburgh has become a favourite for many thanks to its reliable and diverse wedding cake offerings. We noted their great flexibility when it comes to cake variety—they cater to dietary restrictions like vegetarian and halal. 

Their website shows a robust selection of wedding cakes, from the classic three tiers to more intricate designs adorned with blue and red roses. 

During our visit, we learnt that they offer tastings to make sure you get exactly what you want in terms of both flavour and design. We appreciated how accommodating the staff was in guiding us through the options, making the experience rather enjoyable. 

The packaging and delivery were also on point. Many previous clients highlighted that the cakes arrived in impeccable condition. 

However, we did hear from several clients who mentioned the cakes can be a bit too sweet, which is something to consider if you prefer less sugary desserts.

Sweet Little Things has earned a spot among Edinburgh’s go-to wedding cake specialists, and after assessing their offerings and chatting with some of their past clients, we can see why.

One of the things we liked most is the way they’ve streamlined the process for couples, starting with an initial video call consultation where they go over the mood board and designs in detail. This is followed by as many calls as necessary as plans evolve.

This personalised service feels like a unique touch, ensuring your cake ties into your wedding’s aesthetic. For an added option, they also have taster boxes, which let you sample flavours before making any decisions. 

Beyond these, Sweet Little Things also offers decorating of the wedding cake table and renting cake stands. Many of their clients have raved about these, along with their excellent and secure delivery service.

However, it’s surprisingly difficult to secure an appointment, likely due to their high demand.

Licks Cake Design’s cakes are handmade to fit your wedding’s themes and preferences, with a variety of flavours to choose from. 

They’re incredibly flexible when it comes to catering to a variety of dietary needs and preferences—be it gluten-free, dairy-free, or even vegan options—all without compromising on taste.

A few customers we spoke with couldn’t stop raving about how accommodating they found Licks, especially with last-minute adjustments.

They also highlighted Licks’ fantastic communication and personal attention to detail in everything from initial consultations to final delivery. 

Oh, and we found out the Licks delivers the cake themselves—no couriers at all—with careful packaging making sure it arrives in pristine condition.

Now, although we love how creative they are with their multi-tiered wedding cakes, we couldn’t help but notice that the designs tend to lean more toward simple aesthetics. 

So, if you’re hoping for an overly elaborate or avant-garde design, this might not be the place for you.

Sugar Daddy’s Bakery makes gluten-free baking feel less like a restriction and more like an art form. Everything they offer, from cupcakes to pastries to full-blown wedding cakes, is 100% gluten-free.

We’ve learnt about their dedication to quality ingredients, and we noted their commitment to fresh baking right there on the premises. 

They even cater to other dietary preferences, such as vegan options, though they do caution about allergen traces due to shared kitchen use. 

Apart from the inclusivity, their wedding cake packages are pretty impressive, as each one includes a tasting session for two, along with delivery and complete setup at your preferred location.

Their past customers shared rave reviews about how they seamlessly balance traditional and creative designs to match the aesthetic of any wedding.

Delivery was noted as being efficient and stress-free! However, a minor drawback is that there’s no parking lot available, so you’ll need to rely on street parking when you visit.

“Ordered 5 boxes of cupcakes from Sugar Daddy’s for a party and they went down a absolute storm. These aren’t just good gluten-free cakes, they’re good cakes full stop! Many of our guests didn’t even realise they were gluten-free, and for our coeliac friend who’d never had a cupcake before, it was a revelation. Particularly recommend the salted caramel, usually I’m disappointed by the lack of saltiness in things advertised this way but there was definitely a salty kick in this caramel!
