The 5 Best Cat Grooming Services in Scotland for Calm, Scratch-Free Visits
Brushing a long-haired cat at home sounds relaxing until you hit a stubborn belly knot. My own fluffball treats a hairbrush like a medieval weapon, so I learned that kitchen grooming ends in tears.
A noisy carrier makes things worse for an anxious senior cat or a giant Maine Coon. That’s why I compared cat grooming services across Scotland on environment, qualifications, and coat care options to see who handles feisty felines gently.
Below are the best cat grooming services in Scotland that stood out during my research.
How I Reviewed
Calm environment and handling: I checked which salons keep dogs out of the room or come to your home, and how handlers settle nervous cats. Barking and strange smells can scare a sensitive cat before the brush even touches their fur.
Coat care options: I compared service menus, from quick claw clips to full lion cuts. An overweight cat needing a hygiene trim has very different needs from a show breed needing a blow-dry.
Qualifications and experience: I verified trade memberships, City and Guilds certificates, and years of hands-on salon history. Handing sharp clippers to an amateur near thin feline skin is a big gamble.
Booking flexibility: I checked opening hours, walk-in policies, and waiting lists. A matted Persian can’t wait a month, so you need to know how fast you can get an appointment.
1. Highland Cat Groomers

Website: https://highlandcatgroomers.co.uk/
Address: Mobile service across Inverness and the Highlands
Contact: 07510 348860
Hours: Monday to Saturday: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Getting a motion-sick cat into a plastic carrier is often harder than the haircut itself. Highland Cat Groomers skip that fight by bringing their gear straight to your living room across Inverness and the Highlands.
That’s a big relief if your cat is reactive or elderly and panics outside its own territory.
Once they arrive, the handler sits down with you to check the coat and build a custom plan before touching a single clipper. They talk you through every step, whether it’s knot removal, hygiene clips, or a full lion cut.
Throughout, they use a firm hand and a gentle voice instead of anaesthetic. You stay in the room the whole time, which keeps both you and your cat calm.
That said, they don’t offer wet baths, so a greasy coat won’t get a shampoo wash here.
They also only cover Inverness and the Highlands, so owners elsewhere are out of luck.

Highly recommend to anyone who is struggling with longhair cat!
Very, very patient lady and also very understanding. That was Lily’s first grooming and I was worried about how she will react. Even though she was stressed at the beginning, Nathalie’s attitude calmed her and also me! She is very friendly and gentle with your pet. Highly recommend to anyone who is struggling with longhair cat!

I’ll be calling again if my cat needs a professional groomer again!
Nathalie is fantastic at what she does. Talks directly to the cat with a sense of understanding and keeps you calm if your car is distressed (as mine was). 100% worth the money and I’ll be calling again if my cat needs a professional groomer again!

2. Pawcasso Dog and Cat Grooming

Website: https://pawcassogrooming.co.uk/
Address: 990 Crow Road, Anniesland, Glasgow
Contact: 0141 959 8111
Hours: Appointment only (arranged through contact)
Trusting a stranger with a wriggly Ragdoll gets easier when the shop has two decades of practice.
Pawcasso Dog and Cat Grooming has worked in Glasgow since 2002 and holds memberships with the Pet Industry Federation and the British Dog Groomers Association. That track record matters if your long-haired breed needs regular upkeep.
Unlike dry-only mobile services, they handle full wet baths along with thorough brush-outs and claw trims.
I called to ask about tick removal and paw trimming for a long-haired cat, and the staff confirmed they do both, plus ear and eye tidying in the same visit. For an outdoor hunter who comes home dirty, that saves booking separate trips.
However, the calendar is appointment-only and carries a two- to four-week waiting list.
You also have to phone them directly to cancel a slot, so book early and keep their number handy.

Highly recommend to anyone.
Great customer service and fantastic grooming done on my long haired cat. Highly recommend to anyone.
Update: 1 year later and still getting amazing trims from Pawcasso. They put the comfort of animals first and my cat isn’t stressed out at all when back home.
Update 2: Another amazing trim, one happy cat.
Update 3: Evie always loves her time at Pawcasso, comes home very relaxed and looking very well trimmed. I always appreciate the work done by Cindy.

If I had a pet myself I’d probably only take them to Pawcasso
This place is really great! My sister has a Persian x Maine Coon and brings him to Pawcasso on a regular basis with absolutely superb service. The lady working there is always very approachable, easy going and such a breath of fresh air to talk to. If I had a pet myself I’d probably only take them to Pawcasso and my sister has never had any issues with her cat.

3. The Clip Joint Dog and Cat Grooming Centre

Website: https://clipjointpaisley.co.uk/
Address: 50 Caledonia Street, Paisley
Contact: 0141 887 1735
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Wednesday: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Waiting weeks just to stop your indoor tabby shredding the sofa is nobody’s idea of fun. The Clip Joint Dog and Cat Grooming Centre in Paisley skips that wait, since you can walk in for cat nail clipping without an appointment.
They’ve also cared for local pets for over 30 years, so your tabby is in experienced hands.
Every staff member holds a full City and Guilds qualification, so you can trust them with bigger jobs like de-matting or de-shedding. That training matters most at the dryer, where thick undercoats get cleared out safely without overheating your cat.
Before any bath, you also get a one-to-one consultation with the groomer for coat advice.
Just remember, they close at 4 PM on most weekdays and 3 PM on Wednesdays, which is awkward if you work standard office hours.

Amazing job, highly recommend!
Took my sister’s cat Nala here today and she looks fab! She was getting a little matted in places, but they removed matting and all the dead hair. Staff were absolutely lovely and they even took a photo, which I’ve added to this review. Amazing job, highly recommend!

4. Joanne’s Dog & Cat Grooming Salon

Website: https://www.joannesdoggrooming.co.uk/
Address: 28 Portobello High Street, Portobello, Edinburgh
Contact: 0131 669 4441
Hours: Wednesday to Saturday (contact for available times), Sunday to Tuesday: Closed
Barking terriers can spook a nervous Persian. Joanne’s Dog & Cat Grooming Salon in Edinburgh avoids that by blocking out canine bookings whenever a cat is on the table, so your cat gets a quiet, dog-free slot.
Joanne has offered cat and dog grooming services since 1989 and has run this Portobello shop since 1997, so she knows how to keep the room peaceful.
That calm helps when an overweight or elderly cat needs a sanitary clip-out or an all-over shave for severe matting.
Plus, her team handles the details without rushing. They clear out dead hair, pluck and clean dirty ears, and shape tidy lion trims.
My cousin took her grumpy rescue cat here for a belly de-matting, and the quiet salon kept him settled the whole time.
That said, they don’t offer water baths or teeth cleaning for cats.
They’re also closed from Sunday to Tuesday.

It was absolutely worth every single penny of the £70 I paid for the grooming.
I took my cat Bonya to Joanne today for grooming, and I honestly could not be happier. She trimmed her so carefully and gently — Bonya looked calm and happy the entire time. My cat didn’t scream, scratch, or show any stress at all, which has never happened before.
I have never experienced such wonderful and caring treatment for my pet. It was absolutely worth every single penny of the £70 I paid for the grooming.

Joanne and her assistant do a good job of handling cats that don’t like getting their hair cut.
Joanne’s done a good job on our fluffy male moggy several times. He’s currently looking relaxed and pleased with his healthy shaved coat. He’s susceptible to matting and dandruff. His most recent ‘lion cut’ has made him a much happier more comfortable cat for the summer. Joanne and her assistant do a good job of handling cats that don’t like getting their hair cut.

5. PURR Cat Grooming Ltd

Website: https://www.purrglasgow.com/
Address: Unit 88, 35 Rosyth Road, Morris Park, Glasgow
Contact: 0141 611 6369
Hours: Monday to Friday: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Saturday to Sunday: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Even a dog-free hour at a mixed salon can leave canine scents lingering in the air. PURR Cat Grooming in Glasgow’s Morris Park avoids that as Scotland’s first cat-only salon.
The building is completely canine-free, and the team handles just one cat at a time.
That quiet setup suits kittens, elderly pets and anxious rescues that freeze up around strange animals.
First-timers can also book a meet and greet assessment, so your cat can explore the room and get used to gentle handling before a full groom.
Bathing stays gentle too, since they use Scotland’s first DryVac system for washing and drying.
Plus, weekday hours run until 7 PM, so you can book a slot after work without taking annual leave.
However, they don’t take walk-ins, and weekend appointments wrap up at 5 PM.

I found him in the drier actually falling asleep… he was that relaxed!
I was a bit worried he’d be nervous, but as soon as we arrived the staff were so lovely, and the whole place felt really calm and welcoming—which instantly put both of us at ease. When I came to pick him up (slightly early!), I found him in the drier actually falling asleep… he was that relaxed!

Rune now sheds and matts a lot less, and we’ll definitely be back!
Brittnee did a great job with my girl, Rune. She has really silky, easy matting fur, and I’d been putting off having her groomed professionally out of fear of causing her stress; but it was fine! Brittnee popped a happy hoodie on her, worked fast, and kept Rune nice and calm. Rune now sheds and matts a lot less, and we’ll definitely be back! Thanks Brittnee!
