We recently had the pleasure of testing out Star Dogs Grooming, and overall, it was a positive experience. With a combined experience of over 30 years between their top stylists, it’s safe to say they know their way around a grooming salon.

One thing we appreciate about Star Dogs Grooming is their commitment to the well-being and comfort of the dogs. 

For instance, the salons themselves have open plan, relaxed, and fun environments. It’s refreshing to see that they’re cage-free and don’t use cage dryers.

Star Dogs Grooming also offers ‘Puppy Introductions,’ which we found to be a fantastic initiative. This helps with their socialisation and teaches them that grooming can be a fun and enjoyable part of their lives.

Additionally, they offer mini grooms and tidy-ups for those dogs who just need a little touch-up. This convenient option is great for keeping your dog looking presentable between grooming appointments.

Another noteworthy feature is their DIY Dog Wash. They also provide a small selection of grooming equipment for sale in both salons, allowing dog owners to take care of their pets’ grooming needs at home.

Do note, however, that they’re closed on Sundays, which may not be ideal for some pet owners seeking weekend availability. 

Secondly, there have been reports of occasional encounters with snooty and condescending staff, which can be a tad annoying.

Little Angels Dog Grooming Salon is owned by full-time groomer Shennan, who has 20 years of expertise under her belt.

Our tester tried their full groom package. We’re happy that they took care of everything, from a relaxing bath to a warm blow dry, with a coat styled according to the owner’s preferences. 

Next, the dog’s nails were trimmed, and a finishing cologne added that extra touch of freshness. It’s like a day at the spa, but for your furry companion!

Little Angels also offers Emmi Pet Teeth service, which other salons do not offer. Using a patented dental care system, they brush your dog’s teeth with ultrasound waves.

For the little ones, Little Angels offers puppy intros from 12 weeks to 6 months, to help them feel comfortable during their first grooming experience. 

If you want to add a little extra something to your pup’s session, they offer a range of add-ons. These include nose and paw wax to hydrating butter conditioner, fresh breath treatment to tear stain treatment. 

We found their rates to be affordable. It starts from £35 for tiny dogs like chihuahuas and goes up to £60 for larger breeds such as Irish doodles.

However, a deposit is required to secure your appointment. 

Additionally, prompt pick-up is important, as dogs should be collected within 20 minutes after the session. Late fees may apply, so make sure to set that alarm!

Also, if you’re looking to book a weekend appointment, you’ll need to plan ahead since they’re closed. 

Urban Tails Dog Grooming is unique because it’s a barbershop and a dog grooming salon in one. We think it’s a paw-sitively innovative concept!

Their team specialises in Kennel Club clips and creative styles. Whether you’re looking for a classic cut or something more adventurous, they aim to bring your vision to life. 

What our tester really appreciated is that they kept her pup happy and comfortable throughout the grooming process. Plenty of cuddles and kisses were given – like a spa day, but with extra snuggles!

Our tester also couldn’t stop raving about the friendly and professional staff at Urban Tails. She really felt that the staff members were true dog lovers in terms of how they lovingly talked to and handled her beloved pet.

Before getting down to business, Urban Tails takes the time to have an initial chat with you. They want to understand your preferences and your dog’s needs to provide a style that works best for both of you.

They even carry designer pet colognes, adding that extra touch of sophistication to your pooch’s newfound style. Our tester bought one, and it smelled great – clean and fresh but not cloying or overpowering at all.

Sadly, they operate as a cash-only business, so make sure to have those bills ready for a stylish transformation. 

Additionally, plan your visit accordingly, as they are closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Sundays. 

When it comes to grooming your beloved pup, experience speaks volumes, and The Scruffy Dog Company boasts over 25 years of grooming expertise. 

From bath and blow drys to stylish haircuts for all breeds, their wide range of services will leave your dog looking and feeling like a true diva or dapper dude.

At The Scruffy Dog Company, Sarah and Victoria, the skilled groomers, are well-versed in handling dogs of all breeds. It doesn’t matter if your furry friend is a poodle or a Pomeranian.

Our staff tester really loved their mantra, which is “cuddles are mandatory”! Her pooch indeed felt right at home with the warm and welcoming atmosphere, where plenty of affectionate snuggles were given. 

The Scruffy Dog Company understands that style is a personal choice. They’re happy to work with you to find a look that suits both your dog’s breed and your lifestyle – whether you prefer a little fringe or a full-on makeover.

As a member of the Dog Grooming Association, The Scruffy Dog Company upholds high standards in their profession. This assures us of their expertise.

However, The Scruffy Dog Company only has two groomers, so availability may be more limited compared to larger salons. 

Additionally, keep in mind that they are closed on Sundays. 

Dogcut provides a comprehensive range of services, including nail clipping, dog bathing, and the sought-after “Full Groom.” 

First, they assessed our staff tester’s pet’s coat, grooming needs, and checked for any skin conditions. It’s like having a personal stylist and dermatologist for your pup.

Our tester was impressed with both their skill and friendly approach. And to top it all off, her furry companion came home with a bag of treats and a little bow—talk about a stylish exit!

We appreciate their use of products that are not only effective but also kind to animals. Unlike other salons, they use cruelty-free options that contain no animal ingredients or nasty byproducts. 

Additionally, they opt for natural and organic products without any artificial colours. It’s a win-win for your dog’s well-being and the environment.

For those extra challenging cases, Dogcut offers “Extra Time” when booking. If your dog is very matted, has difficulty staying still, or has an exceptionally large coat, they’re prepared to dedicate the necessary time. 

When it comes to pricing, Dogcut offers reasonably-priced services. We love how you can pamper your pup without breaking the bank.

Sadly, Dogcut operates in a small space and cannot keep dogs longer than their appointment times. Late collection may incur an extra charge of £10 per 30 minutes.

Additionally, Dogcut has a policy of not allowing owners to be present during grooming. It allows the groomers to focus on providing a calm and efficient experience for your furry friend.
