5 Best Laundry Services in Scotland to Give You Your Weekends Back

I once spent a wet Saturday afternoon trying to dry four sets of king-size bedsheets on two tiny clothes horses. By Sunday night, my flat smelled like damp cotton and I still had three loads left in the basket.

A good laundry service takes that weight off your weekend. That’s why I compared providers across Scotland on pricing, machine capacity and collection terms.

Here are the best laundry services in Scotland for your routine, and what each one does well.

How much does a laundry service cost in Scotland?

A laundry service in Scotland typically costs £15.00 to £29.99 for a standard 5kg wash and fold bag. Specialist items like duvets and formalwear cost more, depending on weight and fabric.

OptionTypical price
Wash and fold (up to 5kg standard bag)£15.00 to £29.99
Additional weight (5kg to 10kg)£3.45 to £4.99 per kg
Wash only (no drying)From £1.20 per kg
Service wash (small, 0 to 5kg)£20.00
Service wash (medium, 6 to 9kg)£25.00
Service wash (large, 9 to 12kg)£30.00
Ironing individual garments£1.45 to £3.97 per item
Shirt bundles (5 shirts on hangers)£19.00
Shirt bundles (10 shirts on hangers)£36.00
Serviced iron only (5kg)£39.99 (plus £6.99 per extra kg)
Duvets (single to super king)£17.00 to £40.00
Pillows and mattress protectors£8.00 to £30.00
Dry cleaning (shirts and blouses)£1.95 to £8.00 per item
Dry cleaning (two-piece standard suits)£10.20 to £26.00
Dry cleaning (jackets and coats)£11.50 to £56.99
Dry cleaning (dresses and skirts)£8.00 to £50.00
Dry cleaning (wedding dresses and formalwear)£149.99 to £239.98

How I Reviewed

Collection and turnaround: I checked which shops offer evening or weekend pickups and how often their vans run for business accounts. Busy professionals and guesthouse managers can’t wait around all day for a driver.

Machine capacity and fabric care: I looked for high-capacity washers and dryers for bulky duvets, and for gentle dry cleaning methods. Stuffing a duvet into a small drum ruins the filling, and one wrong wash can ruin a structured suit.

Home and business range: I compared how well each shop handles everyday wash and fold bags alongside heavy commercial linen. A student needing a quick wash has very different needs from a restaurant owner with fifty stained aprons.

Pricing clarity: I favoured shops with clear weight bands and upfront quotes. Nobody wants a surprise bill because their wet towels weighed a kilo more than expected.

1. Majestic Laundrette

majestic-laundrette

Website: http://www.majesticlaundrette.co.uk/

Address: 1110 Argyle Street, Glasgow

Contact: 0141 334 3433

Hours: Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Sunday: Closed

Running a hotel or a busy kitchen means laundry piles up faster than in-house washers can clear it. Majestic Laundrette steps in as an independent family business.

About 10 staff run both a commercial laundry and a coin-op shop for students and locals.

What impressed me most when I dropped by their Argyle Street shop was the high-capacity washers and dryers. The big drums give feather duvets and pillows room to move, so they come out fluffed up and fresh.

The hot wash also helps clear dust mites

Hotels get extra support too. They hand-finish designer outfits and run collections twice daily, six days a week, for guests and staff.

That said, they’re closed on Sundays and shut at 5 PM on weekdays, so after-work drop-offs aren’t possible.

Pros

  • High-capacity drums for feather duvet
  • Hand-finished dry cleaning for formalwear
  • Twice-daily hotel collection six days a week
  • Coin-op and commercial kitchen linen options

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays
  • Shuts at 5 PM on weekdays

Highly recommend if you are traveling and need a load of laundry done.

We walked in to do our own laundry.  The gentleman asked if we wanted to do it or if we wanted them to do it.  When he told me the cost was $14 per load I said your are welcome to do it.  Best choice ever.  We dropped off the load at 9:00am and it was done by 13:00.  Everything was washed and folded. Highly recommend if you are traveling and need a load of laundry done.

Hours: Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Sunday: Closed

Handing over a silk dress or a structured suit to a new cleaner is nerve-racking, because one hot wash can ruin the tailoring.

Suds R Us has traded in Edinburgh since 1966, so they’ve had decades to keep garment care simple and dependable for households and businesses.

They focus on items that are tough to manage at home, and their dry cleaning methods protect the shape of silk pieces and wedding attire.

Businesses are covered too. If you run a restaurant, salon or local sports team, their weekly collection plans return your tablecloths and uniforms ready for work.

You also get a free quote before you commit, so you know the exact cost upfront.

That said, their Saturday hours end at 2 PM and they’re closed on Sundays, so weekend drop-offs have to be early.

Pros

  • Trading in Edinburgh since 1966
  • Free quotes before you commit
  • Protective dry cleaning for silk and suits
  • Weekly collection options for regular loads

Cons

  • Saturday hours end at 2 PM, closed Sundays

Tried many others, but SUDS is just better!

100% guaranteed, this place is reliable! Really down to earth, the guys are professional and the service provided is spot on 👍. My loads come in at £17 – washed, dried & folded – highly doubt you’ll find anything close to this elsewhere in Edinburgh! This is why I’ve been going here for almost 2 years.  Tried many others, but SUDS is just better!

We recommend them to anyone with laundry needs all the time.

Have always done superb work for us over the years. Recently worked a miracle on an expensive heated blanket we were sure was done for. We recommend them to anyone with laundry needs all the time.

Website: https://ferryroadlaunderette.co.uk/

Address: 109 Ferry Road, Leith, Edinburgh

Contact: 0131 629 4847, 07951 606420

Hours: Monday to Saturday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Sunday: Closed

Sensitive skin and harsh chemical detergents are a miserable mix when you outsource your washing. Sitting in the heart of Leith, Ferry Road Launderette tailors every load to your preferences.

They collect and deliver anywhere in Edinburgh, so your laundry still gets done if your washer packs in. That buys you time to book one of the washing machine repair services in Edinburgh.

You can even pick bio or non-bio detergent and ask for fragrance-free conditioner before their staff wash and fold your clothes. This matters if you have sensitive skin.

They also run energy-efficient machines with biodegradable soaps, which cuts down your environmental footprint. Bulky duvets and work shirts still come out spotless, so you don’t trade results for greener washing.

That said, the shop shuts on Sundays and closes at 5 PM the rest of the week, so plan your laundry around those hours.

Pros

  • Bio, non-bio and fragrance-free options
  • Energy-efficient machines and biodegradable soaps
  • Pickup and delivery anywhere in Edinburgh
  • Washes bulky duvets and work shirts

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays, 5 PM finish the rest of the week

Laundry was handled with care and ready to pickup at the designated time

Fantastic guys who helped out at short notice. I had been travelling with a week’s worth of laundry and needed it turned over quickly due to my flights departing Edinburgh in 48 hours. They originally said Tuesday but I’d be back in Sydney by then, he moved so e things around and was able to squeeze me in which was so helpful. Laundry was handled with care and ready to pickup at the designated time.

Everything was well communicated and well cared for.

When my washing machine broke down the staff at Ferry Road Laundrette were brilliant.  They picked laundry up within 24hrs and had it back with me swiftly.  Everything was well communicated and well cared for.  Thank you.

4. Braidburn Launderette

Website: https://www.braidburnlaunderette.co.uk/

Address: 137 Comiston Road, Edinburgh

Contact: 0131 447 1257, 07939 854123

Hours: Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Sunday: Closed

Standard nine-to-five collection windows are useless when you work in an office all day and nobody is home to hand over the laundry bag. Braidburn Launderette fixes that with pickup and delivery slots in the evenings and at weekends.

The team can handle the awkward stuff too. A friend of mine who hosts a busy guesthouse near Comiston Road uses Braidburn because the team washes everything from eiderdowns and upholstery covers to muddy dog beds.

Each service wash uses the right temperature for drying before every item gets folded neatly.

If you only hate pressing shirts, you can even book stand-alone ironing.

They also take on commercial loads for care homes, clinics and nurseries that need hygienic turnarounds.

Just keep in mind that walking in for a self-service wash is a gamble, because you may have to wait for a free machine.

Pros

  • Evening and weekend collection and delivery slots
  • Washes eiderdowns, upholstery covers and dog beds
  • Stand-alone or combined ironing
  • Handles care homes, clinics and nurseries

Cons

  • Self-service washing depends on machine availability

5. Glasgow Laundry Services

glasgow-laundry-services

Website: https://www.glasgowlaundryservices.com/

Address: 286-288 Cumbernauld Road, Glasgow

Contact: 0141 556 2200, 07890 324449

Hours: Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Sunday: Closed

Juggling separate shops for clothing alterations, muddy football strips and salon towels wastes time you could spend running your business or relaxing. Glasgow Laundry Services on Cumbernauld Road puts washing, dry cleaning, garment repairs and bed linen care under one roof.

Service washes are priced by weight. You start with a 5kg small load or a 7kg medium load, then pay £3.50 for each extra kilogram. That clear pricing makes it easy for students and households to budget.

Local gyms, spas and hairdressers can rely on them to supply and launder fresh towels every week. They also clean full team sets of football strips, so nobody gets stuck scrubbing grass stains on Sunday night.

However, their drivers only collect and drop off within a three-mile radius. The 5kg minimum service wash is also too big if you just have a couple of shirts.

Pros

  • Washing, dry cleaning, repairs and bed linen under one roof
  • Supplies and launders towels for spas and gyms
  • Clear weight-based pricing (£3.50 per extra kg)
  • Washes full team sets of football strips

Cons

  • Pickup and delivery limited to a three-mile radius
  • Smallest service wash starts at 5kg

Will definitely be using them again and I highly recommend!

Great place! Very responsive and very quick collection of our laundry. We had two large bags full and everything was returned to our flat within 24hrs. Nicely washed, pressed and folded. I also appreciated they smelt very clean but not perfume covered as I am sensitize to strong smells. The price was fair

as well.

Will definitely be using them again and I highly recommend!

Absolute godsend of a place.

Absolute godsend of a place. I was looking for dry cleaners on saturday to dry clean my partners suit for our daughters christening on Sunday. Been to timpsons and few other places who wouldn’t do it on time. This place has done it without hesitation and suit was ready later on on that day. Customer service is spot on, very friendly and professional. This will be my no. 1 place if I ever need anything dry cleaned again as it’s been a pleasure to deal with 😊
