Pros
- Has over 35 years of experience
- Edinburgh Trusted Trader and Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB)-certified
- Offers round-the-clock monitoring service
- Offers flexible service and maintenance contracts
- Uses Pyronix
- Has prestigious clients
- Has a customer-centric approach
Cons
- Slightly longer timeframe for installations
- More limited range of services
Mitchells Scotland Security Systems has over 35 years of experience in providing security solutions to residential, commercial, and industrial clients.
We think it’s cool that they have the thumbs up from the authorities, being part of the Edinburgh Trusted Trader scheme approved by Police Scotland and Trading Standards. They’re also certified by SSAIB for providing top-quality service.
We love their round-the-clock monitoring service. Customers can relax, safe in the knowledge that a squad of pros are keeping a beady eye on their systems.
They also give their customers flexible service and maintenance contracts that can be renewed every year, which we appreciate. This is a lot more flexible than the usual 3-4 year industry standard.
They’re also quite posh for using Pyronix, which is a top-notch brand for electronic security equipment worldwide. So, customers can be sure that they’re getting the best of the best to suit their security requirements.
We’re dead impressed that they’ve bagged some big clients like Redrow, Savills, Miller Homes, and Springfield. This shows their security game is strong, and they’re serious about offering top-notch security solutions.
Apparently, they’re known for their willingness to explain their system in full and answer any questions. We do commend their customer-centric approach.
We have to point out that they have a slightly longer timeframe for installations, which ranges from a week or two.
Also, they have a more limited range of services. Customers may need to look elsewhere for more specialised security-related needs.

Pros
- Has been in the security industry for over 12 years
- Certified by the SSAIB
- Open 24/7 and has a 24/7 call-out service
- Offers a 1-year guarantee
- Specialises in intruder alarms with smartphone integration
- Offers CCTVs for residential and commercial purposes
- Lightning-fast turnaround time
Cons
- Needs to be booked well in advance due to popularity
- Minor communication issues
Firstly, we appreciate the fact that GLD Security has been in the security industry for over 12 years. We can safely assume that they know their onions when it comes to keeping properties safe.
We also like that they’re fully certified by the SSAIB regulatory body, which means they’ve ticked all the boxes in terms of quality.
Another brilliant thing about them is that they’re open 24/7 and have a 24/7 call-out service. Customers can always get hold of them in case of a security emergency.
Additionally, we were happy about their 1-year guarantee.
Another pro is their lightning-fast turnaround time. Apparently, they were able to fit the security system on the same day a client booked a consultation, which shows us that they value their customers’ time.
We also learned that they specialise in intruder alarms with smartphone integration. Having burglar alarms that can send images to our smartphones is actually quite brilliant and convenient.
They also offer CCTVs for residential and commercial properties. We can even view security cameras on a PC or through a smartphone app anywhere in the world!
At first, we did find it a tad tricky to secure a booking with them due to their popularity. So, make sure to book well in advance.
Also, some customers apparently had some minor communication issues when dealing with GLD Security. It wasn’t a biggie, but it did cause some confusion during the installation process.

- Free quote and property survey
- Won’t ask for the final payment until the customer is fully happy
- Attracted prestigious clients
- Has same-day installation service
Cons

- Requires a 50% deposit up front 7 days prior
As someone who’s been around the block, we think Safe Simple Secure Ltd in Edinburgh is the real deal. With over 15 years of experience, they know what they’re doing when it comes to security.
Their SSAIB registration assures us that they use equipment that falls in line with European Standards, giving us peace of mind about the quality of their work.
We highly appreciate their free quote and property survey, which allows customers to get a clear idea of what they are paying for.
Plus, the best part is that they won’t ask for the final payment until the customer is fully happy with the work. That’s something you don’t see often these days – a real commitment to customer satisfaction.
It’s no wonder that they’ve attracted prestigious clients like Marriott, Subway, Burgh Property, The Pantry, and The Bonnie Badger.
We were also impressed with their same-day installation service.
When a customerrequired a fire detection system fitted at his business premises, they were bang on time and got the job done in a jiffy. It’s obvious that they place importance on their customers’ time and are dedicated to providing top-notch work.
However, do note that they’re closed on weekends, which may not be convenient for some people.
Additionally, their residential security options are a bit limited, which may not suit everyone’s needs.
While we appreciate that they don’t ask for final payment until the customer is satisfied, requiring a 50% deposit up front 7 days prior can be a financial burden for some.

Pros
- An Edinburgh Trusted Trader
- Offers comprehensive security surveys
- Specialises in intruder alarms and link-ups
- Has a range of door entry systems
- Competitively-priced services
- Friendly and professional installers
Cons
- Closed on Sundays
- Limited range of security systems
First off, Homeland Security is an Edinburgh Trusted Trader, which gives us the confidence that they’re a reputable company.
We are glad that they offer security surveys, which includes a visit and free security consultation from a qualified crime reduction adviser.
The visual survey they conducted on a customer’s property came with many recommendations on how to improve security.
Plus, the installer was a proper friendly bloke but still kept things professional, making the whole experience seamless and hassle-free.
Homeland Security also seems to be quite good with intruder alarms with internal and external CCTV cameras that link up with the alarm system. This means you can check your place if there’s an alarm and see if there’s any damage or not.
Moreover, the company provides a range of door entry systems to meet all domestic and commercial requirements. This includes video/audio entry, flush mounted monitors, keypad entry, and vandal-resistant options.
We’re chuffed that their services come at a competitive price. Their pricing seemed fair for the level of service they provided compared to other companies.
However, they’re closed on Sundays, which may not suit those who require services on weekends.
Furthermore, they have a limited range of security systems, which may not meet everyone’s needs.

Pros
- SSAIB-registered and Safe Contractor Approved
- Member of the Fire Industry Association
- Offers free quotes
- Impressive list of clients
- Fast turnaround time
- Highly-skilled and efficient team
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Does not offer 24/7 call-out services
- Reports of customers being hit with hidden charges
IFire UK Ltd is another absolute gem of a security solutions provider in Edinburgh, offering both home and business security solutions.
First off, they’ve got loads of accreditations under their belt, like being SSAIB registered and Safe Contractor Approved. So, we knew right off the bat that they’re one of Edinburgh’s most credible security companies.
They offer a free quote, which is a massive help for potential customers on the fence.
Service-wise, they’re excellent. A customer shared that they managed to fit their intruder and smoke alarm system in under two hours with minimal disruption, which is impressive.
No wonder they’ve got bigwigs on their client roster, which includes Samsung, KFC, Peter Vardy, Pets at Home, Aldi, and the British Heart Foundation. This proves that they’re trusted by some of the biggest and best businesses in the UK.
However, they’re closed on weekends. This could be a downside for people with busy weekdays.
Additionally, they do not offer 24/7 call-out services, which may be a drawback for some customers. In case of an emergency, customers may have to wait until the next working day to get assistance.
Another potential drawback is that several customers reported being hit with hidden charges due to poor communication about invoicing, payment, and other details. This could be a concern for customers who want to avoid any unexpected fees.
