There’s a saying that goes, “You are what you eat,” and truthfully, I’m a little concerned because I’ve been eating all sorts of junk this past month. The consequences? Let’s just say my energy levels have plummeted and my face is rebelling.

In a desperate attempt to “recover,” I decided to eat leafy greens exclusively—big mistake. Not only was it dreadful, but I felt more drained than ever. That’s when I realized, I needed professional help.

That said, nutritionists have the science-backed knowledge and alternatives to help you reach your health goals without suffering. So, whether you want to lose weight, boost energy, or simply feel better, we’ve reviewed the best nutritionists in Edinburgh to help you get started!

What we like about Dr Laura Wyness is that she offers multiple services to help and give nutrition advice. She provides individual sessions, workplace wellness programs, guidance through writing, and training and courses—catering to more diverse clients.

A highlight of her expertise is helping clients eat well during menopause. Another doctor even shared how they would refer their patients to Dr Laura to help them maintain and navigate their nutrition during this stage, which shows her competence in this area.

It’s also impressive how you can take in her tips and guidance through different means. You can book an online consultation with her and sign up for her podcasts, books, blogs, and guides—which means her offerings are flexible, especially if you have a hectic schedule.

Just a heads-up, though: She doesn’t provide specific meal plans, and that can be a dealbreaker for some. But hey, she does provide support by giving suggestions and recipes and working closely with you to create something that best suits you.

Pros

  • Offers flexible and multiple services
  • Specializes in menopausal concerns
  • Offers free 15-minute exploratory calls
  • Has several resources
  • Great for corporate wellness or bespoke talks

Cons

  • Doesn’t provide specific meal plans

    Positive, helpful, and encouraging

“I came to Dr Laura for a sort of ‘future-proofing’ health check.  I wanted to find out what I needed to do differently in my diet to be well not just now, but for years ahead.  I also wanted to understand why at times I was feeling bloated.  She helped me think about what I was eating and when, and that I was on the right track – I just needed a bit of tweaking.  So no sudden life changes were needed – thank goodness!  She was positive, helpful and very encouraging.  Thank you.”

Her approach is healthy and easy to follow

“Laura was incredibly helpful. She walked me through what I need to eat in.a day to feel good and full, and she accomodated my needs and requests. Her approach is healthy and easy to follow, she provides a guide that I feel confident using on a long term basis. It helps that she is also incredibly nice! Would 100% Reccomed.”

We love how Nutripanda Your Nutrition Clinic tackles multiple areas of practice or health concerns. For instance, you can visit them if you have issues with weight, diabetes, cholesterol, digestion, skin issues, eating disorders, joint pain, anti-ageing, and more.

On that note, the clients we talked to shared how the head, Dr Gregorio, has provided them with personalized plans that greatly improved their lives—we’re talking good results with IBS, high cholesterol, weight loss, and more. And progress was noticeable within the first weeks, too.

Speaking of Dr Gregorio, we also found out his good rep with his clients, as well as the rest of the team. Many clients were happy with the responsiveness and genuine support, like answering their concerns pretty much any time of the day.

It’s also convenient how the clinic offers lab tests, so you can get everything checked in one place. They have tests for food intolerance, allergy, liver function, and more, but their prices start at around £100, more than what you’d spend at other hospitals.

    Pros

    • Works with many health concerns
    • Provides lab tests
    • Effective personalized plans
    • Highly responsive and communicative
    • Offers 1-hour free pre-consultation meetings

    Cons

    • Tests can be pricey

      The improvement has been amazing

“Gregorio has been helping me for quite some time, and the improvement has been amazing. His advice on what foods to eat and avoid has made a big difference in my health. I used to struggle with digestive issues and endometriosis, but now I feel like I can keep them under control. I’ve switched up my eating habits to include more nutritious and healthy foods. I’d definitely recommend Gregorio to anyone looking to improve their health.”

      Very knowledgable

“Dr Gregorio Torchia is very knowledgeable Nutritionist. He did a talk on two yoga retreats that I run and everyone found him very entertaining and the talk very informative. For any one wanted to heal themselves Nutripanda is the answer.”

Mary Cotter Nutrition stands out for her specialization in helping those suffering from interstitial cystitis and UTI. Being an interstitial cystitis survivor herself, she understands the struggles, and her expertise and tips also come from a place of experience.

And that’s not to limit her services and offerings—she also works with other concerns. A parent we chatted with even shared how their daughter was diagnosed with fructose intolerance, and Mary was able to give practical advice, alleviate symptoms, and widen her general diet.

But it’s a bummer that she has a small team and is closed on weekends. This limits her from accepting multiple clients at once, so you’ll probably have to plan accordingly.

On the bright side, you can grab her free guide on how to heal your bladder with food, covering things like what you can eat freely or avoid, and even three bladder-friendly recipes—it’s quite a thoughtful touch.

      Pros

      • Specializes in interstitial cystitis and UTI
      • Works with other issues
      • Offers a free guide
      • Offers free webinars and training

      Cons

        Professional, patient, and thorough

“Mary is very professional, patient and thorough, she helped me to understand underlying causes of my life long gut issues and gave me hope that my gut health can be improved. I am extremely grateful for all the useful advises and strongly recommend Her! :)”

New You Nutrition, Massage & Wellbeing, helmed by Ruth Lewis-Robertson, specializes in vegan-focused nutritional therapy, which is great if you want a more nuanced type of service. Ruth also offers massage therapy and Reiki, allowing her to be more flexible with her approach.

Ruth’s one-to-one consultations are a big plus, considering the entire thing is a 10-week programme. You can expect to get a detailed analysis of your health, a tailored diet and lifestyle plan, three 45-minute follow-ups, plant-based recipes, and even 15% discounts on supplements.

It’s also neat how reasonable her rates are—at just £375 (10-week programme), you can enjoy its benefits, which pretty much cover all the basics. We love the weekly accountability check-ins since it keeps you from straying away and it’s quite the motivator.

The downside? She’s the only nutritionist, and being open only four days a week, her slots fill up fast. Nonetheless, she’s a solid choice, especially if you’re also eyeing for a massage to go with your nutrition journey.

        Pros

        • Offers a comprehensive programme
        • Reasonable rates
        • Offers free initial consultations
        • Offers other services
        • Great for vegans
        • Free e-book

        Cons

        • Closed Saturdays to Mondays
        • Has a small team

          Relaxed, kind, and knowledgable

“Ruth is an expert on how the right nutrition is key to wellbeing. Her tips for what supplements are beneficial, which brands to go for, and recipes and menu plans are easy to follow and effective. I would recommend a consultation with her, as she’s relaxed, kind and knowledgeable.”

          Caroline Young, Google Review

          A very worthwhile course

“Just want to thank you Ruth for all I have learnt during the Healthy You group programme.  You gave us so much good information combined with lots of encouragement and helpful feedback which has helped me to make significant changes in my diet which I am sure will be stand me in good stead going forward.  A very worthwhile course which I would recommend to others.”

Becky’s Nutritional Therapy handles different health concerns, such as digestive issues, hormones, skin conditions, fatigue, sleep, blood sugar, and diabetes.

We found that she’s great at working with individuals. She offers personalized dietary advice, meal planning, and education to help achieve health goals and improve well-being—the clients we talked to were incredibly satisfied.

It’s also quite refreshing to see her price list; you can easily book a consultation for £85, which is a steal considering that after consultation, she provides a personalized nutrition plan. Plus, the follow-ups (4-6 weeks after consultation) only go for £55—way less than others on this list.

And if you’re looking for something more comprehensive, Becky also offers packages like a 6-month lifestyle package, a “Year of health” package, a 5-day gut reset and detox, and more.

But it’s a shame that they’re closed four days a week, which can be frustrating if you don’t have much of a free schedule yourself. Still, you can get a good grasp of her skills and if she’s worth planning for by booking a free 15-minute discovery call.

          Pros

          • Works with different health concerns
          • Specializes in working with individuals
          • Offers free discovery call
          • Has reasonable pricing
          • Offers packages

          Cons

          • Closed four days a week
          • One-man nutritionist

Really good at what she does

“Becky is really good at what she does, her advice in how to get my gut health back on track has been nothing short of life changing. If you need help with nutrition, I cannot recommend Becky enough.”

            Rowan Ramsay, Google Review

            Provided invaluable support

“Becky provided invaluable support and advice for my diet to help with my joint care, mental focus, and exercise fuel.  Thanks Becky.”
