The Top 5 Dentists in Glasgow Homepage

The Top 6 Dentists in Glasgow

How we picked

Capabilities

We went through each dentist’s qualifications such as their educational background, registrations, and other relevant credentials.

Scope of work

We chose dentists that are skilled enough to help clients in nearly all aspects of dental care, from general check-ups to treatments.

Reputation

Since reputation strongly represents work ethic and service quality, we did some research and asked around to ensure they’re trustworthy and capable.

Fee arrangements

We eyed dentists that had a straightforward fee structure. We checked if they offered financing and payment options.

Clinic

We visited each clinic to assess its cleanliness and modernity, ensuring they’re fully equipped with the latest technology and are up to healthcare standards.

Pros

  • Attends various professional development training and courses
  • Member of a few dental associations
  • Has a special interest in short-term adult orthodontics and dental implants
  • Clinic welcomes private and NHS patients
  • Multiple payment methods accepted
  • Flexible finance options via Kandoo are available

Cons

  • Availability issues may arise due to small team at clinic
  • Dental fees are quite high

David Pearson provides his patients with a wide selection of dental care services, from routine dental check-ups to cosmetic dentistry.

We were impressed that Pearson also specialises in short-term adult orthodontics and dental implants. We think this additional expertise will be beneficial when diagnosing and treating his patients.

He graduated in Dentistry from the University of Glasgow in 2003. Afterwards, he practised at several clinics across the UK and Asia, continuing to hone his abilities.

We find Pearson’s love for learning admirable as he’s often seen attending professional development training and courses. This way, he’s constantly aware of new developments in the field.

He’s also a member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the Association of Dental Implantology.

However, we believe it’s important to note that he’s one of only two dentists at The Peppermint Group clinic. Hence, we think this may pose availability issues, especially when they’re completely booked.

On the flip side, we love how flexible their financing options are. Via Kandaloo, payments can spread from 1 to 5 years, but if that isn’t enough, they also have longer term loan options.

We think this is worth noting, especially since we feel that their prices are quite high.

Pros

  • Completed Dental Surgery from Glasgow University and full-time postgraduate training
  • Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery
  • Holds a diploma in cosmetic and restorative dentistry from the University of Lancashire
  • Extensive experience treating different kinds of patients in the UK and Asia
  • Qualified to perform tooth restorations
  • 0% finance and dental plans available

Cons

  • Quite pricey dental fees
  • Irregular closing times

Pritpal Singh stood out to us because he’s quite the busy bee. After completing his degree in Dental Surgery from Glasgow University in 2003, he completed his full-time postgraduate training a few years later.

Afterwards, he became a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery. On top of his teaching profession, Singh worked at different practices, from hospitals to community dentistry treatments.

He also earned a cosmetic and restorative dentistry diploma from the University of Lancashire. Aside from that, he’s also a member of the British Dental Association and the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry.

Another thing we found impressive is his dedication to treating patients who are critically ill, require special needs, and even those with head and neck cancer and trauma.

These events gave Singh opportunities to learn about minor surgeries and dental implants. After more training, he was able to acquire qualifications to perform tooth restorations.

However, we were a tad disappointed at how pricey their dental fees were. Nevertheless, they offer 0% financing options and dental plans to help make the cost more affordable.

When scheduling an appointment, we suggest double-checking their operating hours since they close at 6 PM on some days and 7 PM on others.

Pros

  • Has a degree in Dentistry from the University of Glasgow
  • Has a post-graduate Master’s Degree in Endodontology (Root Canal Treatment)
  • Certified pain-free dentist
  • Accepts referrals from other dentists
  • Provide financing options
  • Open 6 days a week
  • Free consultations available

Cons

  • Varying closing times
  • Dental fees not readily viewable via website

Nial Balloch graduated with commendations from the University of Glasgow with a degree in Dentistry. In 2015, he began practising as a pain-free dentist at Queen’s Drive Dental Practice.

Among many other accomplishments, what caught our eye was that Balloch is one of the youngest to hold a Master’s degree in Endodontology (Root Canal Treatment).

This means that Balloch has extensive knowledge and expertise in this area of dentistry, which most shy away from. In our opinion, this gives him an advantage in comparison to other dentists.

Because of his proficiency, Balloch also accepts referrals from other dentists. We think this gives patients extra confidence in his abilities to provide a pain-free experience.

Hence, it’s no surprise that many patients request him to perform their root canal treatments. However, this means he’s quite booked from time to time.

It’s great that they offer free consultations, so clients can get a brief rundown of all possible treatment options.

To add, they also provide an array of financing options to help make the financial burden lighter.

Though, we were disappointed their dental fees aren’t readily visible via their website, which would have given potential patients a better idea of their costs.

While it’s great that they’re open 6 days a week, their varying closing times can be a bit confusing. So, don’t forget to recheck before making any appointments.

Pros

  • Won ‘Best Young Dentist in Scotland‘ and ‘Best Young Dentist in UK
  • Has a degree in Dentistry from the University of Glasgow
  • Has post-graduate diplomas in Restorative Dentistry and Implant Dentistry
  • A lecturer and surgical mentor
  • Free consultations
  • Has financing options

Cons

  • Complaints about poor booking
  • Quite young
  • Dental fees are not available online

Right off the bat, we were a tad iffy about including Jamie Kerr in our round-up simply because he’s quite young and has yet to build on his experiences. But given his credentials, we decided he deserved a spot on this list.

Kerr is a certified pain-free dentist who won ‘Best Young Dentist in Scotland‘ and ‘Best Young Dentist in the UK’ at the Dentistry Awards 2019. In our opinion, these recognitions vouch for his skill in the field.

After graduating from the University of Glasgow, Kerr completed 2 years of further studying.

Kerr impressively completed his post-graduate Diploma in Restorative Dentistry with the Royal College of Surgeons of England and post-graduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Kerr is also a member of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners, where he’s a lecturer and surgical mentor. We like his good mix of practical and theoretical knowledge and skills.

If his qualifications aren’t enough to win you over, it’s also worth highlighting that he’s incredibly personable. Hence, it’s no surprise that many enjoy his company alongside his stellar work.

Unfortunately, we’ve heard complaints about several booking mishaps, from unresponsive receptionists to messy appointment settings. These have caused quite the inconvenience to many interested patients seeking immediate attention.

On the plus side, clients can enjoy a free consultation to briefly discuss their concerns and how Kerr can help address these.

While it’s quite the bummer that their dental fees aren’t available online, it’s great that they offer several financing options. We think this can help spread the cost of your treatment and make them more affordable.

Pros

  • Has a degree in Dentistry from India
  • Has a Masters in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Sheffield
  • Member of the Royal College of Surgeons
  • Main focus is preventative dentistry
  • Popular among children and teens for her warm and caring personality
  • Finance is available
  • Open 6 days a week

Cons

  • A few complaints about overcharging for NHS patients
  • Long waiting times
  • Varying closing times

Originally from India, Savitha Menon graduated with a degree in Dentistry in 1993 before moving to England to complete her Master’s in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Sheffield.

Her career officially began in Bahrain, where she practised for a short while before moving to England in 2015. We were impressed that she was accepted as a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in the same year.

What sets Menon apart from the others is that her main focus is preventative dentistry. Meaning that she’s fully qualified to help clients avert most dental problems and properly care for their pearly whites.

Based on our experience, Menon has a warm personality, showing lots of attention and care to her patients. Hence, she’s a popular choice for many, especially children and teens.

As for their dental fees, we think they’re a tad pricey. Nevertheless, we appreciate that they offer finance options for their patients to easily access their services.

While they also have a separate price list for NHS patients, we’ve heard quite a few complaints of overcharging.

We also found the long waiting times a bit bothersome, with some waiting half an hour to be seen. We hope their reception staff develop a more optimised solution to meet the demand.

Their clinic is open 6 days a week, so it’s quite easy to schedule an appointment. However, their closing times vary, so make sure to double-check before scheduling.
