Pros
- Gas Safe registered
- Open 24/7
- 20+ years of industry experience
- Technicians communicate well and provide prompt service
- Reasonably-priced
Cons
- Doesn’t repair oil boilers, electric boilers, or solid fuel boilers
What’s great about Gasworks is that they’re open 24/7. We love the convenience that this brings since clients can phone in at any time of the week to book an appointment at a time that suits them.
On top of 20 years of experience, they’re also fully-qualified Gas Safe boiler service engineers. This also puts our worries at ease knowing they’re legally registered.
They repair a wide selection of boiler brands according to the manufacturer’s instructions. They work on Baxi, Worcester, Vaillant, Vokera, and Potterton among others, but don’t repair oil boilers, electric boilers, or solid fuel boilers.
Even so, this instills confidence given how well-versed they are in the different makes and models. So, it’s no surprise that they’ve gotten a ton of recognition amongst locals for their reliable service.
To be specific, many praised their clear communication, keeping clients well-informed about the situation and their plans to address the issue. They’re also known to attend to clients’ homes promptly and provide efficient service, especially during emergencies.
For their pricing, we think their fees are quite reasonable at around £85 to £120 depending on the make, model, and age.

Pros
- Open daily
- Emergency services
- Gas Safe boiler installers
- Engineer is quick, communicates well, and discusses all details of his service
Cons
- One-man team
Murrayfield Plumbing and Heating is owned and operated by Jordan Drysdale. It’s great that he’s Gas Safe Registered to perform virtually any kind of domestic gas and plumbing work across Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.
We were a tad iffy about Jordan being a one-man team, but our worries were put at ease after having a conversation with a number of his past clients who had nothing but praises for his work.
To be specific, we were happy to hear that Jordan responds quickly to queries and call-outs. More often than not, he’s able to fix the issue on the same day.
But in the event that he can’t, we appreciate that he offers clients a temporary solution until a permanent one gets sorted out. To us, this shows how he truly cares about his clients’ wellbeing, especially given Scotland’s often unforgiving weather.
Aside from that, many, especially his elderly clients, appreciate his patience in going through all the nitty-gritty details associated with the costs. However, we were a tad disappointed that he didn’t have a pricing matrix up on his website.
On top of being open daily, it’s great that they have a separate line for emergency callers. We find this an effective way to ensure that clients in need of immediate assistance can get in touch with them ASAP.

Pros
- Gas Safe registered, Water Safe assured, and Scottish Government-approved
- Clients can track their attending engineer
- Provides a 12-month guarantee
- Open daily
Cons
- No pricing matrix available
We definitely think that Celsius Heating and Plumbing’s key feature would be their qualifications. Apart from being a multi-awarded company, they’re also Gas Safe-registered, Water Safe-assured, and Scottish Government-approved.
Another unique feature that they have is that they give customers the tracking details of their assigned engineer. This way, clients don’t need to put everything on hold waiting for their engineer since they’ll know of his whereabouts to the dot.
Apart from that, they’ll also give clients images of what needs to be repaired or replaced. We like this extra measure as it ensures that clients are shown exactly what they’ll be fixing.
We also like that repairs are completed within the first visit more often than not. This way, clients don’t have to suffer without heated water for long.
It’s also worth noting that they provide a 12-month guarantee on all their repair work. So, if anything goes awry within that time period, customers can expect their engineers to return to fix the job.
The only fault that we could find thus far is that they don’t have a pricing matrix available. We think this could have given interested customers a better idea of how much their services cost.

Pros
- Offers 24/7 emergency call-out services
- Gas Safe-registered
- 10+ years of industry experience
- Offers 12 months guarantee on parts and labour
- Engineers ensure that they tidy up after a job
Cons
- Closed on Sundays
- No pricing matrix available
SD Plumbing and Heating offers boiler repair services from Monday through Saturday. While we were a tad disappointed that they aren’t operational on Sundays, their 24/7 emergency call-out services definitely make up for it.
To boot, they also provide customers with a 12-month guarantee on labour and parts. This means that if something goes wrong, the company covers the expenses of the labour and parts.
Customers may not need to worry about that since their technicians are Gas Safe-registered and have expert knowledge working with different kinds of boilers. This is impressive, considering that they’re Worcester Bosch and Ideal Boiler-certified installers.
Even with just over 10 years of industry experience, we like that their repair methods include non-destructive and invasive techniques. So, clients won’t have to stress about any damage to their boilers or the surrounding areas.
A small detail for improvement would be to include a pricing matrix on their website so that clients have a better idea of their fees beforehand.
Even so, clients that we’ve reached out to said that they think that they’ve gotten their money’s worth with the services here.
Many clients also mentioned that their engineers left things clean and tidy after a long day’s work. We give them top marks for this, as so many clients are sensitive to how their place looks like at the end of the service.

Pros
- Gas Safe-registered
- 30+ years of industry experience
- Reasonably-priced
- Offers 12 months guarantee on parts and labour
- Same-day call-out available
Cons
- Closed on weekends
Scott Findlay Plumbing and Heating Engineers have been a trusted local favourite given their extensive experience of over 30 years in the industry.
What’s impressive about them is that they can repair virtually any make and model of combi, system, or regular boiler regardless of age. This definitely speaks a lot about the vast experience and stellar skills their engineers have.
It’s also worth noting that parts and labour come with a 12-month guarantee for their clients. This gives them an extra layer of protection just in case their boiler needs another repair.
As for their qualifications, they’re Gas Safe-registered, so rest assured they’re qualified and competent enough to be safely handling customers’ boilers.
The cost of their 1-hour on-site labour is around £80 exclusive of VAT and parts, if necessary. In our opinion, we find this quite reasonable, especially with the guarantee.
Though everything looks good so far, we did spot a tiny flaw: they’re closed on weekends. We find this bothersome since some people prefer having housework done over the weekends since their schedule is laxer.
On the bright side, they do provide same-day call-outs, which we definitely appreciate as we’d like customers to get their boilers up and running in no time.
