5 Firms with the Best Accountants in Glasgow
How we picked
Services offered
We chose firms that offered a wide array of services, from standard bookkeeping to tax returns for all sorts of clients.
Credentials
Since accountants play a significant role in ensuring that all the numbers are in check, we eyed firms that were reliable and had impeccable qualifications.
Fee structure
Whether they charge a flat fee or hourly, we sought firms that offered their services at reasonable prices.
Communication
We chose firms whose accountants can communicate technical accounting knowledge in a comprehensive and comprehendible manner. Aside from that, we based this on their ability to provide support.

Pros
- Award-winning firm
- Provides full-service corporate accounting services
- Flexible accountant involvement
- Fees are competitively priced and structured according to client’s needs
- Clients have a designated client manager
- Unlimited support via email and telephone
- Provides a client portal
- Open daily
- Offers a free initial consultation
Cons
- Small team
- Few reports of accountants sometimes forgetting to return calls
What we like best about Callan Accountancy is its award-winning comprehensive service. In particular, they offer financial planning for new or existing businesses to wealth management.
Hence, we think their full-service corporate accounting will significantly benefit small and medium-sized businesses looking for an all-in-one firm.
On a brighter note, their accountants will be responsible for filing tax paperwork to HMRC (HM Revenue & Customs). So, this gives clients one less thing to stress about.
We also think it’s great that they offer packages for different business types. It’s also worth noting that clients get to choose the level of involvement they want their accountants to have.
Having said that, we like that their fees are competitively priced and structured according to clients’ needs since they don’t operate on a fixed-fee basis.
Though, to be honest, we were a bit reluctant about their small team. In our opinion, this could affect their performance, especially when experiencing backlogs.
On the plus side, we think it’s handy that clients get unlimited telephone and email support. Though, there have been some reports of accountants sometimes forgetting to call back their clients.
Did we mention that you’ll even get your own client manager? Aside from seamless communication, we like that all your concerns will be addressed by a single accountant, which you’ll have for the duration of your contract.
We also like that their accountants forego the technical jargon and make the process as simple as can be. Hence, we think they’re a great option for start-ups, too.
It’s also worth highlighting that they have a client portal which stores each client’s accounting data. We like that they maximise the use of technology to make their services easier to use.
If you’re still a bit iffy, we suggest availing of their free initial consultation to address any lingering concerns. They’re also open daily, so you can pop by at your most convenient time to chat with a representative.

Pros
- Family-run firm
- Has been in the industry for 14 years
- Provides fully mobile services
- Specialises in Xero Accounting Software
- Unlimited telephone and email support
- Free accountant consultation
- Flexible payment options available
- Clients will have a dedicated bookkeeper and accountant
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- No office in Glasgow, only meeting rooms
Traynor Accounting is a family-run firm serving the Cumbernauld and Glasgow community for the last 14 years.
With that said, we think it’s important to mention that they don’t have a physical office in Glasgow. Instead, they have meeting rooms at the Glasgow City Centre.
By doing this, they can cut costs, keep their rates at affordable prices, and offer flexible payment options.
To make up for this, they offer fully-mobile services. Specifically, they can meet their clients at their businesses or arrange a video call, which we think are both convenient alternatives.
As for their services, we think it’s worth highlighting that they specialise in Xero Accounting Software. In our opinion, this makes cloud-based accounting easier for small and medium-sized enterprises.
It’s also great that they offer various accountancy services, from personal tax returns to payroll. Hence, they’re a popular choice for many seeking a comprehensive service.
We like that clients will be provided with a dedicated bookkeeper and accountant. In our opinion, this setup promotes organisation and relationship-building.
As for their business hours, it was a bit disappointing that they’re closed on the weekends. So, if you have a dilemma, you’ll have to wait until Monday morning to get in touch.
On the brighter side, clients have unlimited support via telephone and email. Based on our assessments, their accountants are easy to talk to and provide digestible information without jargon.
Interested clients can schedule an initial consultation free of charge, which can be done via Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Here, you can discuss your needs and see how they can accommodate these.

Pros
- 16 years of industry experience
- Corresponds with HMRC on behalf of clients
- Fees depend on accountant’s level of involvement
- Quite flexible as far as meeting clients is concerned
- Complimentary initial consultation
Cons
- Client portal not available
- Closed on weekends
With 16 years of experience up its sleeve, DS accountancy offers a broad range of general accountancy services for small to medium-sized businesses. These include tax returns, bookkeeping, and payroll, among others.
We think enterprises will appreciate their comprehensive approach. Specifically, they’re hands-on, from registering with HMRC to submitting the necessary paperwork.
We love that they’ll look after all the necessary steps and ensure that all documents are processed on time. In our opinion, this alleviates a great amount of stress from clients.
However, we think a small area for improvement would be to develop a client portal. From our point of view, this can ensure that all data is easily accessible on a single platform.
It’s also great that their level of involvement depends on how much assistance you wish to receive. From simple advice to regular bookkeeping, clients get to decide the extent of their services.
Did we mention that they also offer self-assessment tax returns? So, they’re a great option for self-employed individuals or those that need assistance with their pensions.
Having said all that, their fees are tailored to clients’ requirements. So, you’ll only be charged for the work your accountant will be rendering.
For any clarifications, it’s worth noting that they’re quite flexible. Specifically, clients can schedule a meeting virtually anywhere, such as their business site or home.
Unfortunately, they aren’t operational on weekends. So, any concerns will have to wait until the soonest working day, which may be a bit of an inconvenience for some.

Pros
- Offers several start-up packages
- Utilises an automated approach via cloud accountancy
- Offers cloud training
- Operate on a fixed-fee basis
- Will manage the transition from old accountant
Cons
- Varying business hours
- Small team
What we found unique about Blyth Accountants is that they offer several start-up packages. If you ask us, this ensures that the needs of your business are accurately accommodated.
Apart from that, we love that they offer a seamless automated process. In our opinion, this saves money, effort, and trouble.
Did we mention that they also provide cloud accounting? You can choose among Xero, Quickbooks, and a few others, depending on your business requirements.
This also means that clients can easily track changes from anywhere. We think this is beneficial for businesses to accurately see how they’re doing financially.
If you’re not cloud-savvy, it’s worth mentioning that they offer cloud training, too. We appreciate that they provide support to help clients get the most out of their investments.
However, we were worried because they have quite a small team. We think limited staffing can affect their output, especially when in high demand.
As for fees, they work on a fixed-fee basis. We think this ensures that all their charges are made upfront, though clients will have to make sure that they choose the most appropriate package to ensure they’re getting the most value for their money.
They’ll also ensure a smooth transition from your old accountant. This way, all you can worry about is getting properly set up at the firm.
Apart from not being open on weekends, they have irregular business hours, too. In our opinion, this is a tad inconvenient and confusing, so double-check before making any appointments.

Pros
- Has 17 years of industry experience
- Provides bespoke comprehensive, fixed-price packages
- Some package fees are readily available on their website
- Complimentary discovery call
- Provide cloud accounting via Xero
- Offers complete corporate accounting services
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Closes a tad earlier on Fridays
KPP Chartered Accountants has been in the industry since 2005, providing complete accounting services.
In comparison to the other firms on this list, KPP Chartered Accountants’ biggest advantage would be its array of accounting packages.
In particular, they offer bespoke, comprehensive, fixed-price packages for small businesses, contractor services, tech companies, start-ups, and other industries.
We find that this allows them to best accommodate your business’ accounting needs at a reasonable fee. We also think that this is cost-effective since you’ll only be paying for the services your company will most benefit from.
Having said that, we appreciate that some of their fees are readily available on their website. On top of that, all the inclusions of their packages are easily accessible, too.
If you ask us, we like that they’re transparent with the responsibilities clients can expect from them.
It’s also worth noting that they utilise cloud accounting via Xero. This way, clients can access all their account information in real-time anywhere.
If you’re not completely sold yet, we suggest booking a complimentary discovery call to directly speak with one of their representatives.
In our experience, their accountants are quite straightforward and friendly, so you can expect comprehensive answers. They respond quite quickly, too, so you don’t have to worry about long waiting times.
The only fault we could find thus far is that they’re closed on the weekends and end a tad earlier on Fridays. We think this could pose some accessibility challenges in case you’re planning to drop by their office or would like to get in touch with them.
