A free 15-minute meeting is available as well, which we appreciate because these can help the learner and parents see if the tutor is a good fit. But it’s a bummer that these meetings aren’t available from February to May.

Some tutors don’t have years of experience, though, since they mostly employ recent graduates and undergraduates. While this may not appeal to everyone, the advantage is that they can connect with the learners since they’re part of the young generation.

MyTutor is a place that makes it easy to find learning support in Edinburgh. This is a platform that provides science tutors who have diverse experiences and credentials.

The tutors are all from top universities in the UK, but they’re undergraduates, so there may be potential gaps in teaching and credentials. That’s quite alright, considering they’re transparent about their qualifications and teaching experience.

Cost-wise, they’re not going to break the bank. You can find a tutor for as little as £25 per hour in a simple pay-as-you-go system, with no sign-up fees and no contracts required—basically, you only pay for the hour you book.

We like their flexibility because they offer online tutoring, although that means there are no in-person options. Nonetheless, the free 15-minute meeting allows the parents to see if the tutor is the right fit for their child.

And from what we’ve seen, their tutors know how to adapt their teaching styles, even during complex science problems!

If you’re looking for an accessible tutoring centre in Edinburgh, Explore Learning is a solid choice. They have multiple branches in Scotland that offer free 1-hour trials!

We also like the flexible schedule, available in online and in-person lessons. Conveniently, there are one-on-one and group sessions, although solo lessons are only available virtually.

While it’s a letdown that they don’t offer a science-only session, their tutors can still assist learners in the subject matter since they provide entrance exam tuition. This will help the child study to pass exams, which include science.

As for the pricing, we found it within the average range in Edinburgh. A group session can cost £23 to £30 per meeting, which isn’t bad for the support the learner will receive.

The parents we spoke with noted the positive impact that Explore Learning has made on their children. The students showed progress in their science subjects, which is what we really want here!

The brilliant thing about Novatutors is that they teach all subjects and years. Yes, that means they can help learners of any age who want to study all branches of science!

Their focus is on online learning, so no in-person sessions. The learner still receives one-on-one tutoring, so they have all the attention from their science tutor.

Plus, their tutors received top marks and come from the leading UK universities, ensuring they can provide the best guidance. Although some are still undergrads without loads of experience, they still possess up-to-date science knowledge.

The payment structure is a wee bit different, though. You pay for a learning membership, which starts at £160 for four hours of tutoring per month.

Every session is individually tailored for each learner at BK tutoring, which is one of the reasons we like them. Their tutors can achieve this because they have years of professional teaching experience in the UK.

One more reason is their specialisation, which includes various scientific disciplines, such as biology, chemistry, and physics. Guess what else? They’re accessible for children and adults at uni!

Their focus is online learning, which offers a more flexible schedule. The drawback is that it doesn’t suit all learners, so the lack of in-person tutoring sessions is a bit of a shame.

Nevertheless, we appreciate that they provide exactly what the learner needs and more. Their science tutor will use past papers to help with the students’ studies and all materials are shared for easy access.

BK Tutoring doesn’t have a lot of tutors, though, so that nips off a few points for accessibility. Still, they’re worth the wait because their expertise extends from basic to advanced science topics!
