Pros
- Spacious three-floor shop
- Finance options
- Offers a Guardsman Protection Plan
- Free home visit for floor installation fitting
- Has a price match policy
- Charitable company
- Sustainability efforts
- Carries high quality designer brands
Cons
- Pricey
- Some damaged orders
- Pushy sales people
- Late deliveries
Gillies Aberdeen is certainly one of the best furniture stores in Aberdeen. Who wouldn’t be comfortable shopping in this accessible and spacious three-floor shop?
For the budget-conscious, check if you qualify for the various finance options the shop offers. For instance, they have up to 12 months interest-free credit (0% Typical APR) plans with a minimum deposit of 25% and maximum deposit of 50%.
Gillies Aberdeen also offers a Guardsman Protection Plan, a five year accidental damage policy, paid one-time. This will cover you for typical mishaps that can happen to your furniture.
In addition, this store provides floor installation services, which is very convenient. They even provide a free home visit for floor installation fitting.
Gillies Aberdeen also has a price match policy. This means they will try their best to match the lowest or most competitive price, assuring you that you’ll get great value for your investment.
We were also impressed by their various sustainability efforts to help the environment. For example, they are now in the process of switching from regular plastic bags to Polyair, the first polythene product in the UK to be officially carbon-negative.
Most of the furniture this shop carries are from designer labels, so expect them to be of high quality (and premiumly-priced!).
It’s just disappointing that there were apparently some customers who received damaged orders. For instance, a customer bought a power recliner chair which, upon arrival, was faulty and eventually required a new frame.
Some also noticed that their sales people were a bit more aggressive. When a couple settled for a carpet, the sales person did everything they could to dissuade them from buying it and tried to upsell them instead, which was awkward for the couple.
Lastly, some of their deliveries were late, so you might want to re-confirm your purchases if they are nearing the deadline.
These issues are quite typical especially for a store this size. That said, we think management should take a second look at their operational issues and address them soonest.
We still recommend a trip to Gillies Aberdeen if you want a one stop solution for your furniture needs.

Pros
- Has a wide variety of products
- Offers made-to-order furniture
- Affordable
- Discounted items available
Cons
- Blocked aisles
- Massive checkout lines
- Low furniture quality
- Subpar amenities
The Range in Aberdeen is also a solid choice if you are looking to shop for furniture in this area. This is due to their very wide variety of products that even include a
pet & leisure section and a garden & outdoors section.
One great thing about The Range is that they offer made-to-order furniture. You just need to choose from their selection of gorgeous upholstered sofas, armchairs, and footstools, and they will make it for you based on your own specifications.
This shop is also comparatively affordable. Their most affordable two-seater sofa, The Anne, costs only £349.00.
You’d be happy to know that they have several discounted items in their shop. They typically sell furniture items that are 17%-22% off.
The physical layout of the store, however, needs some work. For instance, a few customers had issues with some aisles being blocked.
As with most large stores, they also tend to have very long checkout queues, which can definitely be annoying and inconvenient for customers.
There also seems to be a case of “you get what you pay for” in this store as some customers have reported low-quality products. One grandparent bought a fish tank for his grandchildren for Christmas, but the light failed after just four days.
They also seem to have subpar store amenities since some of their toilets were apparently filthy, their lifts were out of order, and they did not have trolleys for the disabled.
As a whole, The Range would be perfect for those who are on a budget and value savings over comfort while shopping in a store.

Pros
- Numerous promos and discounts
- Open 7 days a week
- Budget-friendly
- Sturdy furniture
- Has a click and collect option
- Spacious layout
Cons
- Missing/incorrect items upon delivery
- Miscommunication issues
IKEA, a globally popular Swedish home brand, has its own branch in Aberdeen. One advantage of being a large store chain is that they can afford to offer numerous promos and discounts.
Not only does Ikea offer these promotions, but their items are already quite affordable to begin with. For instance, you can purchase a three seater sofa for £399.
We also believe IKEA offers the best value for your money.
That’s because their furniture is made of wood fibre waste, which makes plastic products stronger and less expensive. Not only does this help the environment, but it also helps your wallet.
For those who have busy schedules, you’d be pleased to know that IKEA Aberdeen is open seven days a week.
Also for the customers’ convenience, the shop’s website has a click and collect option. After you order from their website, you just collect your order on your chosen day once you have received your ‘ready to collect’ email.
The store is fairly spacious, so you can shop in relative comfort except on holidays when it is typically packed with giddy customers.
It can’t be helped, however, that a large chain would have several missing or incorrect items upon delivery.
For instance, a customer was delivered the table he ordered without legs and without the lamp that he ordered.
Some also experienced miscommunication issues. One customer went there to pick up an item he spotted online, but was disappointed when it turned out it wasn’t in stock at all.
Ikea’s sweet deals, however, are difficult to resist. Thus, we still recommend this shop if you want to buy sturdy furniture, but you have a tight budget.

Pros
- Established shop
- High-quality items
- Finance options
- Price match promise
Cons
- Pricey
- Damaged items
- Late deliveries
- Freezing temperature in the shop
If you are looking to shop in an independent and established furniture shop in Aberdeen, then Annie Mo’s is the store for you.
This store has been around for over thirty years, furnishing homes throughout the UK via their Aberdeen shop and their website.
The quality of the furniture items in this shop is quite impressive. For instance, their beds are made from oak and pine, both sturdy types of wood.
They also offer several finance options if you are not able to pay in full. If qualified, you can enjoy 0% interest instalment payments over 12 months to 2 years.
They also have a price match promise in place. They are willing to match the price of any new product from any Scottish competitor.
Several customers, however, have complained about their pricey products. This was confirmed after we browsed through their website and saw an Editor two seat sofa for a whopping £1,400 – and that was in the clearance sale section!
Sadly, there were also many reports about customers receiving damaged furniture.
One customer received a vase with a brown tide mark around the top in a mouldy box. Another received a broken mirror.
Late deliveries were also reported, and we can just imagine how annoying these can be.
In terms of their facilities, they seem to lack adequate heating since some customers have reported that they were freezing when they went in the store.
To avoid delivery issues and save money as well, you can choose to pick up your items in their shop instead.
All in all, Annie Mo’s established shop is still one of the best options to choose from if you want to buy from an independent furniture joint in Aberdeen.

Pros
- Amazing staff
- Has an interior design service
- Free consultation with various options
- Customisable collections
- High quality furniture
Cons
- A bit expensive
- Some reports of damaged furniture upon delivery
- Delivery scheduling issues
If you are the type to value exceptional service over price, then BoConcept’s Aberdeen branch is the ideal furniture shop for you.
First off, BoConcept is known for its amazing staff. For instance, a customer raved about a design consultant in this store, stating that she was very welcoming and accommodating.
We love that they have a customisable collection. You can select the best options for your space in every aspect, including material, component, configuration, size, and finish.
They also pride themselves on selling high quality furniture.
For instance, over 98% of their wooden furniture was manufactured in their own factory in Denmark. This allows them to push industry standards – such as applying five separate coats of lacquer on a product.
Of course, high quality furniture comes with a price. For instance, they sell a simple Indiva two-seater sofa for £939.
Some furniture items were also apparently damaged upon delivery. One customer received two cushion covers that had slight faults, and another one received a dining table that had chips and splinters on all of the dining chair legs.
Unfortunately, some also experienced delivery scheduling issues, which highly inconvenienced them.
For example, a customer made a large order, and they promised that the items would arrive at a specific time. Unfortunately, the delivery date apparently kept being pushed back.
As a whole, BoConcept Aberdeen is still a top notch furniture shop which sells high quality items and provides stellar customer service.
