Pros

  • Received several awards
  • Assigns a personal move manager
  • Covered by £2,000,000 of public liability insurance
  • Has several freebies

Cons

  • Pricey
  • Some minor damages on items

Moving Home Made Easy is one of the top movers in Glasgow, having garnered several awards.

For instance, they won Best Rated Removal Company six years in a row

(2017-2022), and they are also the 2020 and 2021 Winner of the Removals and Storage Company of the Year awarded by Corporate Live Wire Prestige Awards.

It is quite neat that once you create a booking with them, a personal manager is assigned to you. He or she will deal with every part of your move, ready to give you helpful packing advice or deliver bubble wrap in a pinch.

This is great because you’ll only have to deal with one person in the company who knows the ins and outs of your unique move.

This company is also trustworthy, seeing that they have £2,000,000 worth of public liability insurance.

We were also impressed by the amount of freebies this company offers. First, they provide free packing materials such as boxes, tape, and bubble wrap.

Also, they offer free aftercare services. This includes post-move reorganisation and furniture positioning up to seven days after your move.

On top of that, they provide one week’s worth of free storage should any unexpected entry delays happen on your moving day, which is both helpful and reassuring.

Their service is a bit pricey, however, when compared to other services. Moving Home Made Easy charges an average of £703 for local moves, which is 25% higher than the market average.

Some customers have also reported minor loss and damages to their furniture.

For example, one customer had to replace the screws to their baby gate because it got lost in transit. Also, a wardrobe sliding door was forced back, resulting in the metal hinges bending.

However, we still think that Moving Home Made Easy is worth hiring, due to their award-winning service and freebies that come with your booking.

2. Scot Removals

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Has a wide variety of services
  • Highly experienced drivers and porters

Cons

  • Strayed from what was quoted online
  • Minor furniture damage
  • No freebies

Scot Removals is also one of the best movers in Glasgow especially for those on a budget.

First off, they have competitive pricing. On average, they charge £242 for local moves – which is 57% less than the market average – and £254 for long-distance moves.

They also offer a wider variety of services that customers can choose from according to their needs when compared to other moving services.

For instance, they offer house removals, furniture delivery, office removals, man & van service, and even piano removals.

They also pride themselves on hiring highly experienced drivers and porters. We would certainly feel better if our belongings are being handled by skilled workers.

Do be careful when asking a quote online and also asking for an in-person quote simultaneously.

A customer was already given a quote online, but she requested an in-person quote as well. The in-person quote was more expensive, and that quote was honoured rather than the online quote.

Also, some customers have reported minor damage to their outdoor furniture. When they sent pictures, they were informed that these damages were not covered.

Overall, we think Scot Removals is still one of the best options for moving, especially for those who are tightening their belts budget-wise.

3. The Home Removals Company

Pros

  • Provides special promos
  • Has a super-efficient ‘part load’ system
  • Fully insured
  • No deposit required
  • Storage discounts

Cons

  • Van was not large enough
  • Reports of rude staff

The Home Removals Company is one of the go-to movers in Glasgow, partly due to the special promos they offer.

For instance, those in Glasgow are in luck because they offer a special 10% discount for any home removal to and from a Glasgow postcode.

Next, they also offer small or “part load” removals. The cost of a small load is typically around £250.00 (all-inclusive) – apparently, you can experience up to 75% in savings with this option as opposed to hiring a full run.

In addition, they have a public liability insurance coverage of £1,000,000. Furniture and possessions are also covered up to £30,000 while being loaded and in transit, which is reassuring.

It is also great to know that no deposit is required to avail of their services.

While they do not offer free storage like Moving Home Made Easy, they do offer discounts.

Free packing boxes will also be delivered to your house prior to your move.

There were some reports, however, of their van not being large enough. A customer reported some furniture damage because the movers were trying to push it all in the small van.

Some also noticed the unprofessional behaviour of the movers, stating that they were shouting and swearing at each other all day. It might just be that they’re comfortable as a team, but this can be unpleasant for a client.

Despite this, we highly recommend this company for their unique “part load” removals. If you are single and do not have a lot of stuff, then this moving company would be ideal for you.

4. Hart Home Removals

Pros

  • Free boxes with every move
  • No credit card fees
  • Part-packing service is available
  • Offers a part load option
  • Fully insured
  • Can provide storage options

Cons

  • Inexperienced driver
  • Could improve on communication and follow-through

Hart Home Removals is another top choice for your moving needs if you’re in Glasgow.

You’ll be happy to know that they also provide free boxes with every move. For your convenience, they will also deliver the said boxes to your house or flat prior to your home removal.

If you will be paying via credit card, then you are in luck because there are no credit card fees.

Additionally, you do not have to worry if you have fragile items since they offer a part-packing service manned by professionals.

This packing service is specifically for fragile items that need extra care. You can choose whether you want it done on the actual moving day or the day before.

If you want to save money and you don’t have a lot of things, you can also choose their part-load service. This budget-friendly option allows you to move without paying for a full load.

You’ll be happy to know that your homes and property are fully covered by the company’s public liability insurance. In case of damage during the move, the customer will be protected.

In case you’ll be needing extra storage, they can arrange storage for your items in a secure local storage facility. This can be for both long and short term.

However, some have described their assigned driver as inexperienced.

For example, the removals’ van apparently hit a customer’s new neighbour’s wall on moving day. The customer was stuck with the bill since their calls and texts were reportedly ignored by the company, which is a shame.

We also just wish they would improve their communication skills and follow-through.

For instance, a customer who already paid the deposit was disappointed when the staff did not go through with their move. Apparently, they belatedly told him that his desired date was fully booked.

Looking at both the good and the bad, we think this moving company would be ideal for those with a lot of fragile items or for those paying with their credit cards.

Pros

  • Eco-friendly
  • Philanthropic company
  • Trained home removalists

Cons

  • Reports of unprofessionalism
  • Postponed moves

For the environmentally conscious, Green Move Removals is a good Glasgow moving company.

For instance, one of their proudest achievements was being recognised as the first UK removal company to have an electric vehicle on the road.

In addition to being eco-friendly, this company is very charitable.

A percentage of each move actually goes towards their charity of choice, Trees for Life. This charity actively plants trees to offset carbon emissions and to promote biodiversity regeneration.

This actually means that by choosing Green Move Removals, you are contributing to Scottish Highlands’ reforestation, which is quite cool.

They also have highly trained home removalists. Their workers are trained to disassemble and reassemble most furniture items, they can also disconnect and reconnect white goods.

On the other hand, there were several reports of a specific mover being hot-tempered. One example was when a couple’s wardrobe was damaged, the mover got very angry and acted unprofessionally.

There were also some isolated incidents of moves being postponed by the company which highly inconvenienced the customers.

In one of these instances, the company admitted that they overstretched themselves and apologised for the delay, which is admirable.

As a whole, Green Move Removals is still highly recommended by us due to their commendable eco-friendly and philanthropic efforts.
