The 6 Best Yoga Classes in Edinburgh for Balance and Harmony
I used to think that yoga was just another passing trend, so I didn’t expect much when I popped into my first class. It was awkward at first, my tight shoulders hated me, and I was fighting for my balance, or lack thereof.
But once I found my rhythm, it became strangely addictive and oddly empowering… or maybe it’s just my new-and-improved posture talking. The truth is, yoga isn’t about sipping green juice or rocking cute outfits (okay, maybe it is).
It takes serious coordination, strength, and focus–both mental and physical. Even so, I keep coming back, again and again, to my favourite studios. Curious to know where I roll out my mat in Edinburgh? I’ve rounded up the best yoga classes worth joining, so read on!

Founded in 2015, Tribe Yoga is one of my favourite spots in Edinburgh thanks to its variety and welcoming atmosphere. From hot yoga to pilates, there’s always something different to spice things up to suit my mood and fitness goals.
The instructors are another highlight—attentive, creative, and always ready to bring encouragement and energy to the class, which is a lifesaver when the class becomes so relaxing that I risk nodding off.
But here’s the hitch: classes can sell out quickly, regardless of branch. So if you’re after a specific time slot or instructor, we strongly suggest booking ahead. On the bright side, the flexibility is another huge plus.
With several branches across Edinburgh, from New Town to Leith, it’s easy to pop in wherever convenient. Plus, scheduling classes is equally accommodating, whether you’re only available in the early mornings or can squeeze in weekend sessions.
We liked the variety of membership options, which makes it easy to choose a package that fits both your budget and how often you practise. However, the drop-in rate costs can add up, so consider a membership if you plan to attend regularly.
Instructors are true professionals
“I’m so glad I found this yoga studio! There’s an atmosphere of calm and comfort here that helps you leave all your worries at the door and fully focus on your practice. The instructors are true professionals. After each session, I feel how both my body and mind come into balance.”

Yoga’s Got Hot is a female-owned studio based in Comely Bank that offers a variety of classes in both heated and warm room settings. I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest fan of sweating buckets, and heated rooms definitely test my limits, but the afterglow is unbeatable.
Of course, there are other class options available, depending on how vigorous or restorative you want, from Hot Flow to Nidra. You also don’t need to worry about coming in without any prior experience, as instructors are incredibly helpful and offer modifications that you can follow.
Did I mention you can bring the little ones, too? These specialised offerings, like mother and baby or kid-yoga classes, are great for easing them into basic breathing exercises and relaxation.
When it comes to flexibility of scheduling, they have a fairly broad timetable, so you can drop by any day of the week. The real bonus? They often run deals, so following their social media is a smart move if you’re looking to score discounts and deals.
Safe place to practise and learn yoga
“I attend warm and hot power classes each Monday. The welcoming studio is clean, beautiful and fresh. Teachers are all experienced practitioners, giving well structured classes with excellent cues and flowing sequences. This is a safe place to practise and learn yoga of various types. Every time I arrive feels comforting. Laying on the floor in a warm room at the beginning of each class, looking at the glowing stars in the ceiling, is a tonic to balance the rest of life, especially when Scottish winter bites outside.”

Calming and relaxing
“Lovely studio, airy, and spacious. The classes do not pack loads of people into them, so they are calming and relaxing. Emma was a kind teacher.”

A boutique yoga studio, the Edinburgh Yoga Room is a personal favourite for Ashtanga practice. Its owner, Stacey Chavis, is an authorised Ashtanga teacher whose teaching style takes a holistic view of yoga, connecting movement and breath, for a well-rounded practice.
Another plus for me is their intimate class sizes, fitting just about 18 to 20 mats, so you don’t need to worry about being crammed shoulder-to-shoulder. Because of this, classes can fill up, so booking ahead is a smart move to secure a spot.
It’s also worth highlighting that some classes aren’t exactly beginner friendly. While Stacey is great at helping out new yogis, you may need to have some level of familiarity, especially for practices like Mysore or Ashtanga.
Luckily, there are Standard and Beginners pass options, allowing you to try things out before committing to terms/blocks, which often run for 12 weeks. And if you can’t make it to the studio in person, there are also online classes, so there’s really no excuse to skip your practice.
Warm and empathetic teacher
“Stacey is a warm and empathetic teacher. Hugely knowledgeable, her weekly yoga sessions give me a weekly physical and psychological lift. Her wonderful studio is bright and spacious, but I also enjoy the flexibility of online one to one sessions. Highly recommend!”

Tidal Yoga is one of the newer studios in town, having just opened in December 2024. Despite being fresh on the scene, it’s already garnered a strong reputation for its emphasis on inclusivity for all ages and abilities.
Its founder, Alex, teaches with a “trauma-informed” approach, so practices are attentive to how the body and mind hold stress. As a result, classes are gentle and mindful of comfort, creating a space that feels safe and supportive.
We found the classes ideal for people new to yoga, returning after a break, or anyone with mobility concerns. Another big plus is that classes are capped at 16 students, which ensures that everyone receives individual attention and guidance.
Aside from the classes, we also enjoyed their workshops and events, such as sound baths and acroyoga, which adds an extra layer of fun and exploration for when you want to spice things up.
Full of laughter, gentle advice
“I first joined Tidal Yoga in January, attending the prenatal yoga class every Saturday! They were one of the best parts of my pregnancy. Alex knows so much about the body and pregnancy, but also teaches with the warmth and care of a granny (aunt 😉) always making sure I felt safe, supported, and listened to. I left each class feeling stronger, calmer, and more ready for birth. I met amazing women here who became friends, and we’ve been able to share this journey together. Now I’m bringing my little one along to the postnatal classes, and it’s just as special—full of laughter, gentle advice, and that same wonderful sense of community. It’s more than yoga—it’s a place where you feel like you belong.”

I felt incredibly comfortable practicing there
“I can’t recommend Tidal Yoga enough. Through January I went to over 15 classes and absolutely loved them all – from yin and restorative to flow and pilates. The space is thoughtfully designed and beautifully executed, I felt incredibly comfortable practicing there. I also felt there was a real sense of community developing, there’s something about seeing the same faces time and time again and becoming more comfortable around each other, that adds to the joy. Alex’s approach to accessibility is refreshing and so needed in Edinburgh. I really valued every single minute I spent there.”

If you’re looking for more than just a workout, Yoga with Esme strikes the perfect balance between challenging and rejuvenating, blending physical practice with spiritual and healing practices. We especially loved the meditative side of the sessions, which adds depth, going beyond your usual fitness class.
While we appreciate the variety of classes offered, we must note that hot yoga or heated sessions aren’t the focus here. On the bright side, Esme is a wonderfully approachable teacher and easy to learn from, always offering adjustments, variations, and personal attention.
We also love that Esme offers a hybrid format! While in-person classes are ideal, you can join in via livestream in case your schedule doesn’t line up with the class times – handy since some classes are only available on certain days.
Her special events and retreats are also must-tries. Whether you fancy a simple yoga day or a full weekend escape, there’s something for every need: spiritual focus, breathwork, or intention setting. Just be quick to book, as some classes fill up quickly!
All excellent
“Esme’s yoga classes and retreats are all excellent. There is lots of variation, so you can find something to suit you whether you are a beginner, more advanced or are using yoga to compliment other training such as running or yoga. She checks in with everyone and gives plenty of options and adjustments if you need to hold back because of an issue or if you are able to push on, she gives opportunity to do so.
The studio is easy to get to on the west/north side of town with parking around the court and is itself a great space with plenty of room but also not so big that you feel away from the teacher. Esme spends a lot of time with you individually to help or give advice if you want it. You will always leave her class feeling better than when you arrived.”

5 star experience
“I attended the yoga retreat and had a 5 star experience. Esme led us through meditation, vinyasa flow, and yin yoga. The end result was a very relaxed, chilled body. Thank you for a wonderful experience”
