What impressed us most about Mustafa Mustafa is his outstanding merits. Did you know that he has nearly 100 completed international courses and certificates?

He earned his orthodontic speciality at the Poznan Medical University in Poland. He then completed his PhD in Orthodontics at the same university before moving to England to accomplish his clinical training. 

After working for several large dental corporations, Mustafa settled in Scotland as a principal orthodontist at various practices. He then earned his post-graduate diploma in Lingual Orthodontics at Warwick University. 

Hence, Mustafa is well-known in the field for his expertise in dealing with complicated and challenging orthodontic cases. In our opinion, his love for learning is a strong statement to competitors as this showcases his determination to feed his knowledge in orthodontics. 

Apart from that, we thought it was admirable that orthodontics is Mustafa’s passion. We were touched to hear that he prides himself in being able to give his patients the smile they deserve.

Many of his patients can vouch for his professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail. So, we highly encourage those interested in discussing viable treatment options to avail themselves of their free no-obligation consultation.

On top of that, they provide their patients with a free 3D smile scan, whitening, and retainers. However, we did feel that their options for braces were a tad limited.

We were also disappointed that they don’t have their dental fees readily available. In our opinion, a pricing matrix could give those interested a better idea of the cost of their services.

On a brighter note, we like that they have a smile gallery up on their website showcasing before and after photos of their work. We think this is worth checking out, especially for extra-discerning patients.

Unfortunately, we did hear a word about poor customer service from a number of their former patients. In particular, they expressed frustrations about how poorly their complaints were handled by on-site staff.

Before Giulia Ragazzini began working at Edinburgh Dental Specialists, she originally came from Italy. There, she completed Dentistry at the University of Genova and Postgraduate Specialisation in Orthodontics at University of Cagliari.

On top of that, Ragazzini holds a post-graduate Master’s degree in the latest orthodontic techniques. Given this,it’s worth noting that she’s qualified to perform state-of-the-art treatments.

Her experience in practising first began as an orthodontist at a pediatric hospital in Genova. Whilst she was there, Ragazzini also taught undergraduate students, which we think helped her improve her interpersonal communication skills.

We applaud Ragazzini’s dedication to discovering breakthroughs in the orthodontic field. In particular, she was heavily involved in clinical research that sought to spot new approaches for patients with rare genetic syndromes and published several international journal publications.

What’s great about her clinic is that they offer free initial video consultations. Here, interested patients can get to know Ragazzini and discuss the concern at hand and various treatment options without any obligation. 

However, we were concerned at the fact that their clinic only accepts patients that are referred by their general dentist or practitioner. On a brighter note, they do have a list of practitioners that they work with in case you don’t have a general dentist. 

We found their options for braces quite limiting also, since they only offer invisible orthodontic treatments. 

We appreciate that they have a pricing matrix on their website. This way, interested patients have a general idea of how much their fees may cost.

While we do think that their fees are a tad pricey, it’s worth noting that they have a few financing options available. We think those with a tight budget may want to explore further.

What sets Abdullah Alkalaly apart from the other orthodontists on this list is his extensive international experience. So, get ready for a trip around the world!

The first stop is Cairo, where Alkalaly graduated from Cairo University in 1999 and began practising dentistry, specialising in orthodontics. 

A few years later, he travelled to Taiwan to attend a Craniofacial Fellowship with a particularisation on cleft and surgical patients through an orthodontic lens.

Shortly after, Alkalaly moved to Japan to complete his orthodontic post-graduate studies. Apart from that, he took part in several published research studies.

In 2011, he completed his PhD in Orthodontics at the University of Hong Kong. Soon after, Alkalaly began working as an orthodontic specialist in one of Qatar’s most esteemed hospitals.

He then moved to Edinburgh to complete a 3-year doctorate in clinical dentistry in orthodontics. Since then, Alkalaly hasn’t stopped receiving awards, joining prestigious international fellowships, and doing similar activities. 

If his qualifications aren’t enough to win you over, Alkalaly is known by many to be incredibly professional and capable, which helps instil confidence in nervous patients. You’ll see what we’re talking about at your free initial consultation.

While we appreciate his clinic’s convenient hours, it’s a bit worrisome that they’re often busy, which results in appointment changes. According to a few patients we’ve spoken to, they’ve had their bookings rescheduled since they couldn’t be seen on their original date.

We also like that they have an easily accessible dental fees guide, though we do admit that we find their fees a tad pricey. On the plus side, they offer financing plans to spread out the cost of payment, which is great for those on a strict budget.

Before anything else, we do admit we were a tad hesitant about including John Rowley in this list – primarily because he’s quite young, especially compared to most dentists.

However, Rowley has garnered several distinguished awards, such as Best Young Dentist (which he won four times!) and Best Smile Makeover, to name a few. 

He’s also a member of various fellowships, such as the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh membership in Orthodontics and the British Orthodontic Society.

Rowley also has all the required certifications to perform orthodontic treatments with SureSmile, Invisalign, Incognito, Damon braces and Insignia, among others. 

To boot, he’s also qualified to provide advanced cosmetic, aesthetic, and restorative dentistry services. In our opinion, these credentials are very telling of his high calibre. 

While he just recently joined Southside Dental Care in 2018, Rowley has become a patient favourite thanks to his personable character and professionalism. 

It’s also worth highlighting that he’s particularly great with kids, thanks to his patience and gentle hands. So, it’s no surprise that many parents find comfort in his services.

But here’s the hitch: Rowley is only available on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 8 PM. In our opinion, this is troubling given that he’s quite sought after but only attends the clinic twice a week.

Unfortunately, we did encounter a few complaints from their patients about being seen late. So, we hope that they make the necessary adjustments to see more patients. 

On the plus side, we appreciate that the clinic sees both private and NHS patients. In our opinion, this makes them more accessible to all persons in need of dental care.

While we were disappointed that they don’t have a pricing matrix available, we appreciate that they provide several financing options. In our opinion, this will be of great help to those with budget restraints.

Mohammed (Mo) Almuzian is a well-travelled and highly qualified Specialist Orthodontist who has been treating children and adults for the last 19 years in 6 different countries.

We were speechless at Almuzian’s extensive background in orthodontics that we simply cannot list everything here. He’s completed several degrees and advanced training in prominent universities abroad and in the UK.

Apart from that, he’s been awarded various merits in his studies and research work. The most notable would be his Gold Medal from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Orthodontics, which he won out of 80 candidates worldwide.

Among his colleagues, he’s well known for his success in various complicated cases that include severe cleft lip, jaw deformity, and hypodontia, among others. He’s also heavily involved in multiple acclaimed worldwide societies. 

We think that many patients would feel at ease to know that Almuzian is an evidence-based orthodontist. Aside from taking part in many different research publications, he strongly advocates for research-based treatment options.

Even if you don’t take our word for it, many of his patients can vouch for his calibre. Many can feel Almuzian’s passion for orthodontics in how he helps his patients find the best available treatment.

While it’s great that they offer free consultations, we were a tad let down that there’s limited availability. Hence, we suggest booking an appointment in advance, which we don’t think will be an issue considering they have an easy-to-use and modern booking system. 

Though quite pricey, their fees are readily accessible, along with resource links to their dental plans and financing options. In our opinion, this is worth looking at, especially if you’re searching for ways to spread the costs of your treatments.
