Pros
- Principal solicitor has over 15 years of family law legal experience
- Multi-awarded firm
- Specialises in cases involving high-net-worth financial issues and child-related matters
- Disabled access
- Employs collaborative methods of negotiation
Cons
- No free initial consultation
- Only open thrice a week
Most noteworthy about this multi-awarded firm is the impressive legal skills of its founder and primary solicitor handling family law cases, Mohammed Sabir.
With more than 15 years of experience, Mr. Sabir is best known for handling complex cases involving divorce, high-net-worth financial issues, child-related matters involving relocation, and international child abduction.
His personal strategy is to use collaborative methods of negotiation. Impressively, this has yielded them quick resolves in their client’s favour.
Aside from starting anew with them, we appreciate that they’ll take on existing cases, too. To us, this speaks a lot about their dedication to their clients.
Clients we’ve gotten to know commended the firm’s professionalism and attention to detail. We think this helps them create more tailored solutions and effective representations.
However, we were disappointed that they don’t offer free initial consultations. Other than that, they’re only open thrice a week, as of writing, due to restrictions brought by the pandemic.
Nevertheless, you can contact Mr. Sabir directly via his phone number or email address.
If clients plan to visit their law office, it’s worth noting that it’s equipped to handle individuals with disabilities. So, clients don’t have to worry about any mobility concerns.

Pros
- Annually ranking in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners Legal Directories
- Offers services in Sharia and Jewish divorces
- Clear on pricing
- Offer fixed pricing fees
- Open 24 hours daily
Cons
- Minor complaints about lack of communication
As one of the country’s largest law firms, Slater and Gordon Lawyers provides an abundance of legal services, annually ranking in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners Legal Directories.
Their family law services encompass a variety of issues, but what stood out to us the most is they offer legal assistance in Sharia and Jewish divorces on top of regular divorces. We were impressed by their skills in Jewish and Islamic legal histories, to say the least.
It’s also great that they’re clear on pricing. In particular, they set their legal fees from the get-go. They also give clients the option to avail of their fixed price option at £99 for a 30-minute initial consultation.
We also appreciate that they have a variety of family support content readily available. We think that this extra service will definitely help clients understand their cases a bit better.
Unique to their firm is it’s easily accessible since it’s open 24 hours daily. We like that clients can easily get in touch any time of the day, especially for emergencies.
But here’s the hitch: we came across a few complaints regarding a lack of communication on the firm’s end. While we commend them for addressing these, we hope they adopt more reliable solutions to avoid unintentionally ghosting their clients.

- Multi-awarded firm
- Experienced in various forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
- Handle cases involving domestic violence, harassment, and similar sensitive work
- 28+ years of industry experience
- Multiple payment methods accepted and online payment available
Cons
- Minor complaints about responsiveness
Having been in the industry for more than 28 years, Drummond Miller is a well-known, multi-awarded law firm. They deal with an array of family law-related cases, from divorce and separation to child law.
We were impressed that they also handle domestic violence, harassment, and similar sensitive work cases. Aside from expertise, this shows they’re well-aware of the complexities of cases like these.
Apart from that, if you’re looking for traditional ways to resolve disputes, their team is also experienced in various forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). In particular, they’re experienced in arbitration, collaboration, and mediation.
We like the variety of their techniques as it gives clients a selection of options as to how they’d like to approach their case.
Potential clients can easily schedule a virtual appointment via their website. Unfortunately, they don’t offer free initial consultations.
They can also make payments on the website via Mastercard, Maestro, and Visa.
On the flip side, we were quite disappointed that many clients encountered issues with their responsiveness. In particular, many complained that they didn’t return any calls or messages.
Considering the daily influx of queries, we hope that their administrative team figures out a way to deal with them.

Pros
- Open 6 days a week
- Offers money-back guarantee
- Fully insured
- WoolSafe-approved cleaning solutions and treatments
- Problem-specific cleaning treatments available
Cons
- No free initial consultation
If industry experience is a priority for you, it’s worth noting that Thorntons Solicitors is over 165 years old. So, it’s safe to say they’ve accumulated a wealth of experience over the years.
They’ve also garnered several awards highlighting their skills and boosting their credibility. Hence, it’s no surprise they’re the 4th largest independent full-service legal law firm in Scotland.
Focusing on their family law services, they’re skilled in issues such as cohabitation rights, divorce and separation, financial divorce settlements, and prenuptial agreements, to name a few.
Clients we’ve gotten ahold of gave raving reviews about the stellar service they received. They also noted that their lawyers were incredibly accommodating, regularly answering all queries and keeping them up to date throughout their case.
On that account, we surely have to give it to them in terms of A+ customer service.
However, we were bummed that they don’t offer free consultations. While fees may vary, a client we’ve spoken to revealed that a 30-minute consultation set them back £180, which is quite a hefty sum in our opinion.
On the brighter side, we don’t think convenience will be an issue since they have 14 offices across Scotland. They also accept online payments via debit and credit card.

Pros
- 200+ years of industry experience
- Primary tactic in handling disputes is through negotiations
- Clear on pricing
- Has 2 offices in Glasgow
Cons
- Minor complaints about responsiveness
As one of the oldest on our list, Beveridge & Kellas has provided a full range of legal services since 1821. They’ve established a solid reputation in delivering sound professional advice, representation, and solutions.
In our opinion, what sets this firm apart is that its family law department is headed by Lynn Harrison. She is a member of the Family Law Association and an accredited specialist in the field.
While different cases require varying forms of dispute resolutions, their primary tactic in handling disputes is through negotiations. So far, they have a proven track record for finding the right solutions.
We appreciate that they provide initial rates and eligibility for legal aid during the initial consultation. We think clients can save money and time early on by having their options clearly laid out.
Unfortunately, many clients we’ve spoken to expressed frustration from not getting any responses or callbacks. While we understand the overwhelmingness of numerous queries, we think they may need to adopt new strategies to accommodate all these requests.
On the brighter side, they have 2 offices in Edinburgh – at 52 (Main Office) and 68 (Property Centre) Leigh Walk. So, interested clients can easily pop by for a quick chat.
