Pros

  • Specialises in electrical installations
  • Accepts credit cards
  • Emergency call-out available
  • Registered with SELECT
  • Prompt and reliable electricians

Cons

  • Closed on weekends
  • Lacks information on call-out services
  • No pricing matrix available

Since 2013, PWS Electrical Services Ltd has been one of Glasgow’s leading electricians, specialising in electrical installations. Even so, it can handle residential and commercial electrical work, which speaks volumes about its workload capacity.

First off, it’s registered with SELECT, which we appreciate. This means it has all the necessary approved paperwork such as insurance, financial accounts, and equipment, among others.

Landlords will be pleased to know that it offers routine electrical checks and maintenance packages. We also like that because it is a SELECT-registered company, its electricians are professionally accredited to issue safety certificates.

Now for homeowners, it’s worth noting that it provides emergency call-outs. However, there’s not much information on its location restrictions and details on this service, so we would recommend giving them a call to ensure that a specific area is covered.

We like that it accepts major credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Maestro, and ApplePay. This means that clients won’t have to worry about shelling out cash in the middle of an emergency.

However, we were a tad disappointed that it didn’t have a pricing matrix available. This would have given potential clients a glimpse of the cost of its services.

So far, we’ve heard nothing but positive things about its electricians. The majority of its clients that we’ve spoken to applaud the team’s promptness and efficiency.

For extra-discerning clients, PWS has its portfolio up on its website. We think this is a great way to explore firsthand the calibre of clients they’ve serviced, and what they think about PWS.

Pros

  • Open 24 hours daily
  • 25+ years of industry experience
  • Pricing info available
  • Emergency call-out available
  • Workmanship and material guarantee available
  • Accepts card
  • NICEIC-approved

Cons

  • Charge an hour minimum and bill for every 15-minute interval

Clients on the hunt for an electrician that can stop by any time of the week should consider checking out HomeRewire Scotland.

With 25 years of industry experience, its electricians are known for their ability to take on small or large residential and commercial electrical problems. These include installations, rewiring, fault finding, and electrical health checks.

It’s worth highlighting that it offers workmanship and material guarantees for up to a year. These will definitely come in handy, especially if clients experience any fault or issues in their work post-service.

Did we mention that it’s also NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting)-approved? This means clients can rest assured that its electricians, products, and services are thoroughly checked by the appropriate governing body.

We appreciate that its costs are readily available, so clients will already have an idea of how much its services cost. It charges hourly rates excluding VAT, depending on the time and date, which is especially beneficial for those only needing a simple or quick fix.

Calling on a weekday during business hours will cost £85, but out-of-hours jobs will set clients back £185, which we think is quite a hefty sum. While there isn’t a call-out fee, clients should note that they do charge an hour minimum and bill for every 15-minute interval.

On a brighter note, clients may opt to pay through cash or card. We think that it’s always good to offer a variety of payment options so that clients can select their preferred or most convenient channel.

Pros

  •  NICEIC-approved
  • 15+ years of industry experience
  • Fully insured
  • Approved OZEV & Energy Saving Trust grant installers

Cons

  • Closes a tad earlier than others
  • No pricing matrix available

Over the last 15 years, Easyfix Electrical has been a local Glasgow favorite. Its reliable electricians are fully trained to perform a wide range of services, from standard electrical checks to high-end electrical installations.

We like that it is an NICEIC-registered service, which means that customers can expect high-quality work. Being associated with NICEIC tells us that its electricians have undergone the necessary regulations training and have approved work standards.

One of its most noteworthy features is that its electricians are approved OZEV & Energy Saving Trust grant installers. This means they’re qualified professionals when it comes to installing OZEV EV Charge Points.

This is great if clients are looking into installing smart chargers in their homes for their electric cars. Its electricians can come over to do a free site survey and quotation, too, which we think is a great added bonus.

Apart from these, it’s fully insured, offering some protection against unforeseen circumstances such as property damage and workplace accidents.

Speaking of fees, we were a bit disappointed that there wasn’t a pricing matrix up on its website or information on its preferred payment channels. Clients will have to call in to enquire about the cost of its services.

Just keep in mind that its business hours end a tad earlier than other electricians. Interested customers should try to schedule appointments earlier in the day or well in advance.

Pros

  • Regulated and approved by SJIB
  • Member of SELECT
  • Authorized installer of electric vehicle charging equipment, charging points, and AICO fire detection systems
  • 40+ years of industry experience

Cons

  • Doesn’t offer repairs for selected household appliances
  • No pricing matrix available
  • Closes a tad earlier than others

With 40 years of experience, JK Electrical has impressively rounded up a number of certifications, making it qualified to perform virtually any kind of electrical installation clients need.

Its services are regulated and approved by SJIB (Scottish Joint Industry Board). Not only this, it’s a member of SELECT, too, so we think clients are in extremely capable hands.

In addition, it’s an authorised installer of electric vehicle charging equipment, charging points, and AICO fire detection systems. Sadly, however, it doesn’t offer repairs for household appliances such as washing machines, heaters, and electric showers, among others.

Nevertheless, we think that its wide range of services makes up for these limitations, especially given its credentials.

We’ve heard great things about the electricians, too. According to past clients, its electricians offer stellar communication, ensuring that clients are well-informed about the work required and processes throughout the job.

On the flip side, we’re just a bit iffy that there isn’t a pricing matrix available on its website. But the good news is, we hear that it’s quite responsive to enquiries – so we don’t think clients will be waiting long for a revert.

Finally, keep in mind that its business hours are a tad shorter than others and that it closes as early as 2PM every Friday. We would suggest scheduling appointments earlier to be accommodated.

Pros

  • Open daily
  • Has a 6-year guarantee
  • Fully accredited by  Napit, Select, and NICEIC
  • Lead electrician has 30+ years of industry experience

Cons

  • No pricing matrix available

What we like about Central Scotland Electrical is that it’s open daily. This means that clients can have its electricians come down to take a look at their electrical concerns any day of the week.

On top of this, they are highly-qualified, considering that the company is fully accredited by Napit, Select, and NICEIC. These qualifications give clients a guarantee of 6 years, which definitely sounds like the best assurance they could get.

Lead Glasglow electrician Ian has over 30 years of industry experience. We are also impressed that he’s a fully-qualified Gold Card Approved 18th Edition Electrician and has complete City & Guild qualifications for installation, inspection, and testing.

Considering the team’s wealth of expertise, we unquestionably have to give it to them in terms of workmanship and qualifications.

As for its services, we like that it offers a variety of domestic and commercial installation, testing, and replacement services. To boot, it also provides electrical installation certificates and electrical installation condition reports upon request.

Clients have shared that Ian and his team get the work done efficiently, and at a fair price, too. However, there isn’t a pricing matrix readily available, so clients would need request a quote for their unique estimate.
