The 3 Best Dentists and Dental Clinics in Dundee

How we picked

Credentials

We chose dentists that had stellar credentials and based this on their years of experience, notable memberships, formal training and education, and awards.

Clinic

We based this on whether the clinic employed hygienic practices, was easily accessible, had modern facilities, and had the latest dental technology.

Availability

We selected clinics that had reasonable opening hours, but favoured those that offered weekend and evening appointments.

Fee arrangements

To help make visits more affordable, we chose dentists whose clinics had flexible fee arrangements and reasonably priced services.

Customer service

Since going to the dentist is a scary experience, we selected clinics that had friendly and reassuring staff.

Pros

  • Completed post-graduate studies in Invisalign and advanced restorative dentistry
  • Caters to private and NHS patients
  • Competitively priced services
  • Finance options and membership plans available
  • Provides disabled access
  • Has free on-site parking

Cons

  • Fairly young practice
  • No online booking

Dr Michael Foster opened KW Dental in 2016 with his wife and fellow dentist, Dr Hannah. Despite being relatively young, the family-run practice has since earned several awards.

After graduating from the University of Dundee in 2009, Foster took numerous post-graduate courses, specifically in Invisalign and advanced restorative dentistry, to advance his skills in the field.

From what we’ve seen, Foster is quite the character as he’s incredibly friendly while remaining professional. So, it’s no surprise that many patients, even those a tad anxious about visiting the dentist, are at ease with his presence.

His clinic caters to private and NHS patients with corresponding fees readily available on their website. We appreciate the accessibility as interested patients will already have an idea of the cost of their services.

On top of their services being competitively priced, we like that they offer interest-free finance options. This way, their services are a tad more affordable for their patients.

Moreover, they also offer membership plans starting at £15. What’s great about these is that members get exclusive perks such as fee discounts which will save you a couple of pounds in comparison to the pay-as-you-go scheme.

As for their facilities, the practice has recently undergone major renovations and expansions earlier this year. So, it can comfortably accommodate a number of patients with ease.

It’s also worth mentioning that they provide disabled access, which will definitely make going about easier for those with mobility concerns. They also offer free on-site parking, so you don’t have to worry about where to leave your vehicle.

However, we found it quite troublesome that they don’t have an online booking system. So, you’ll have to schedule an appointment the old-fashioned way and give them a ring.

Nevertheless, their staff are always cheery and can sometimes book you later in the day. To us, this is great news for those that require immediate attention.

Pros

  • NHS and non-NHS patients welcome
  • Eco-friendly dentistry
  • Financing options available
  • Offers children’s dentistry

Cons

  • Information on fees not readily viewable
  • Website is for all of their clinics

Lochee Dental Care, formerly Scott Fraser & Munro Dental Practice, is another well-known dentistry practice with several clinics across the country.

What we like best about their clinic is that they offer a comprehensive array of dental services.

They provide nearly all kinds of dental care, such as routine dental care, cosmetic dental treatments, and teeth straightening for NHS and non-NHS patients.

Did we mention that they provide children’s dentistry, too? Their highly skilled team can perform restorative dentistry to help save and care for young teeth.

In our perspective, this is a life-saver for parents with fussy toddlers who want to ensure they’re getting proper attention as their team members are all experienced in handling wee ones.

We were also impressed to have found that they’re one of only a few dental clinics that employ eco-friendly practices.

With the goal to eliminate their net carbon emissions by 2030, they’ve employed several changes in their energy, waste, resources, and supply chains to reach these short- and long-term solutions.

As for their dental fees, we were a tad disappointed that these aren’t readily viewable. They don’t have an online booking system, either, which is quite troublesome in our opinion.

So, interested patients will have to enquire via phone or email to know more about their fee structure and schedule an appointment. With that said, keep in mind they aren’t operational on the weekends.

On the bright side, they offer financing options to help make their services more accessible. What’s more, your dental care is tailored specifically to your needs, so you’ll only pay for services you actually need.

Keep in mind that their website is the main domain for all of their clinics. Hence, if you’re looking for information specifically about their Dundee clinic, you’ll need to enquire at your preferred clinic.

Pros

  • Well-known for their professional, kind, and understanding staff members
  • Offers children’s dentistry
  • Can make referrals to orthodontists
  • Cater to NHS and non-NHS patients
  • Online booking system available

Cons

  • No financing options available
  • Often fully booked
  • Could improve communication lines

Our favourite thing about Dundee Dental Care, formerly known as United Dental Care, is its lovely staff members. From what we’ve seen and heard, they’re shown utmost professionalism and kindness to all of their patients.

We’ve gotten in touch with several of their former patients who share our sentiments. We were happy to hear from one that the staff was incredibly understanding of one patient’s sensory issues, which made for a calming experience.

From our observations, their staff love their jobs and have established a great rapport with their patients.

Another thing we like is that they’re an ideal clinic for families as they provide services for children, adults, and seniors.

According to some patients we’ve contacted, they’re quite the experts in handling kiddos. So, parents won’t have to stress as their little ones are in experienced hands.

Oh, it’s also worth highlighting that the dentists at Dundee Dental Care can also make referrals to orthodontists. So, in the event that they aren’t equipped to handle your case, they’ll be able to send you to a capable orthodontist who can.

As for their fees, we think that their services are competitively priced. Since they cater to NHS and non-NHS patients, you can expect their fees to differ a bit.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any financing options available. So, if you’re looking to spread the cost of your payment, you may want to check out the other entries on this list instead.

Regarding availability, they’re only open on weekdays and don’t offer evening appointments. Hence, this may result in availability issues, especially since they’re often fully booked.

On the bright side, interested and returning patients can easily schedule via their online booking system. Though, we do see room for improvement as far as their communication lines are concerned.

This is because if their receptionist isn’t on stand-by to take a call, clients can’t leave a voicemail. Alternatively, their staff sometimes takes a few days to get back to clients’ emails.
