Live Language stands out for its deliberately small class sizes, usually capped at 14. That alone makes a big difference if you want proper speaking time and actual feedback, not just a seat in the room.

They’re not about drilling grammar or memorising vocabulary. Most of the classes lean into real communication, like role-plays, conversations, games, and discussions that mirror everyday situations. 

Another thing that works well is how their courses are structured. You’re not just dumped into a vague “intermediate” group. For instance, their Japanese classes have five levels, showing they’re serious about supporting long-term growth, not just beginners.

A small heads-up: they’re closed on weekends, so it’s worth double-checking when your classes fall, especially if your schedule’s tight. 

Nonetheless, we like how the language isn’t taught in isolation. The cultural context they weave into the lessons gives everything more depth, and for bilingual learners, that kind of grounding goes a long way.

If you’re serious about learning French in Glasgow, Alliance Française is a solid choice. It’s officially recognised by the French government, which shows in how they run things—everything’s structured, professional, and taught by qualified native speakers. 

You’ll also have space to practise speaking without getting drowned out since classes are small enough (around 15) that everyone gets to speak. If in-person classes aren’t your thing, they’ve got online options, too.

We also love that there’s a mix of class types depending on what you need. Some are all about conversation, others lean more into grammar or cultural topics. 

And if you’ve got your sights set on passing the DELF or DALF exams, they run dedicated prep classes with teachers who know the test inside and out. 

Though it’s a bummer that they only focus on French, so if you’re looking to learn something else alongside it, this won’t be the place. Still, for French alone, it’s a reliable option.

VamosGlasgow keeps things small and focused—most adult classes have around 10 people, sometimes even fewer. This setup gives you plenty of time to actually speak and get useful, individual feedback in both Spanish and English. 

What’s refreshing is how early they get you speaking. Lessons kick off with real conversation rather than textbook grammar, which is more practical and a less intimidating way to build bilingual skills. 

They also bring Spanish culture and everyday expressions into their classes, so learning feels more realistic and intimate.

Cost-wise, it’s a bit on the higher side. A standard block runs around £212 for weekly 90-minute sessions. Still, a lot of learners say it feels worth it for how practical the classes are.

Also, they’re closed on weekends so scheduling might take a bit of planning. Regardless, we can’t deny that their classes aren’t just informative; they’re genuinely fun, and many students say they look forward to each session.

Just like the name suggests, Language for Fun focuses on Spanish lessons built around conversations, not exams or memorisation, so learners can get comfortable speaking without feeling like they’re being put on the spot.  

The environment is relaxed, but the sessions are clearly planned. We found that each class follows a specific theme, and the weekly pace helps you build skills gradually without it ever feeling like a grind.

Small groups are the norm here, too, no more than 12. But what makes a difference is that there’s no pressure to talk unless you feel up for it. 

We also like the support that comes outside the classroom. You’ll have access to recap videos, recorded sessions, quizzes, vocab cards, and printed materials.

One thing to keep in mind: it’s just Spanish (for Glasgow). So if you’re hoping to take on other languages in the same kind of format, you’ll need to look elsewhere. 

Still, if you’re after a friendly, flexible way to practise Spanish in a no-pressure setting, this one’s a solid bet.

Kidslingo takes a playful approach to teaching Spanish: think music, storytelling, role-play, and even crafts. You see, kids tend to absorb the language while they’re having fun, and it’s not just about memorising vocabulary.

We also noted that the tutors themselves bring a lot to the table. Marie is originally from Puerto Rico, and Claire’s a qualified teacher with experience in both Spain and Latin America.

It’s also worth mentioning that groups are small, split by age, and the energy is always high. Plus, the parents we spoke to mentioned how much their kids look forward to each class, and how even the quiet ones start opening up after a few weeks.

The catch? They don’t run classes for adults, and it’s just Spanish for now, so the scope is narrow. But hey, what they do, they do well.

And since the content lines up with the Curriculum for Excellence, it doesn’t feel disconnected from what kids are doing in school either.
