We first tried Miller & Carter – a top-tier steakhouse and Glasgow-based gem – because we heard a lot of good things about it. For instance, they received a ‘Masters of Steak’ award, granted by the Craft Guild of Chefs.
We also appreciate their adherence to quality standards. Their farms meet the criteria of the Red Tractor or Bord Bia Sustainable Beef Assurance Schemes, guaranteeing that their beef is sustainably sourced.
Moreover, their chefs undergo training at their ‘Steak School.’ This expertise translates into diners being given perfectly cooked steaks based on their preferences.
We were dying to try their aged British and Irish steaks, which they’re known for. They employ wet and dry ageing techniques, and the ageing process is under the supervision of their Master Butcher.
Now, on to the good part – their 30-day aged ribeye steak was delicious. Cooked to perfection and accompanied by sides such as parsley butter and balsamic beef tomato, it’s a testament to their culinary mastery.
Additionally, their 50-day aged 8 oz Black Angus sirloin steak was definitely a treat to remember – perfect for steak connoisseurs.
Do note that the high quality and care put into their steaks result in a relatively expensive menu. For example, their 12 oz 30-day aged ribeye steak is priced at £31.95.
Sadly, we heard from a customer about their lack of recognition for his fiancé’s 30th birthday, despite mentioning it in the booking notes. We agree that the absence of any acknowledgment for such a special occasion was a letdown.

Mini Grill Scottish Steakhouse is a family-run restaurant with a small but expertly curated menu. In fact, they won “Scotland’s Best Burger” Award in 2017 – proof that they know their way around beef.
Speaking of beef, they partner with John Gilmour Butchers at Humeston Farm, a local place. They use Aberdeen Black Angus dry-aged beef – aged for an impressive 35 days – which sounds heavenly.
For those seeking a feast, they offer a traditional Sunday Roast. With options like roast beef, chicken, and slow roast Scottish pork belly, it sounds like a hearty feast that we might come back for.
As for our dinner, the highlight was their Tomahawk steak. It was an absolute marvel of tenderness and flavour, complemented by roast vine tomatoes and mushrooms.
To cap off the meal, we recommend their espresso – its rich and bold flavours paired well with our steak, providing us with the perfect conclusion.
Plus, the staff’s service was impeccable, which we appreciate. Their attentiveness, friendliness, and in-depth menu knowledge really made our night.
Mini Grill caters to the young and old alike, offering a kid’s menu and a cocktail menu. So, those looking for a family sit-down or an adult’s night out would be all set.
Sadly, there was a bit of a wait involved – around 40 minutes. This is worth considering if you’re dining on a tight schedule.
Another aspect to keep in mind is the pricing of the steaks, which can be on the higher side. For instance, their 300g fillet steak is priced at £39.

We think The Butchershop has the energetic vibe of Manhattan with the timeless appeal of superb Scottish beef. With 12 years of culinary excellence under its belt, this restaurant has forged its reputation for its passion for steak.
The restaurant proudly boasts a partnership with Gilmours the butcher and Cairnhill Farm. Sourcing top-notch ingredients from these local suppliers ensures that every cut of beef they offer is top-tier.
We also noticed the restaurant’s sumptuous interiors. The rich brown leather and dark wood accents create an inviting atmosphere that encourages guests to relax and indulge.
As we explored the menu, we couldn’t resist starting our meal with the Philly cheese steak spring rolls. It was a dream combo of beef, creamy cheese, and savoury herbs enveloped in a crispy golden shell.
The fillet steak that followed was cooked to perfection, offering a melt-in-your-mouth sensation that was spot on. Accompanied by generous portions of hand-cut chips, it was a carnivore’s dream come true.
And then, the pièce de résistance: the Tomahawk steak with blue cheese butter. This behemoth was as delicious as it was impressive.
Keep in mind that their Sunday Roast, though delectable, came at a premium compared to similar offerings.
We also heard reports of booking mix-ups that left some diners feeling frustrated, indicating a need for improved reservation management.
Additionally, an overly pretentious waiter also slightly marred our visit, as their condescending attitude detracted from the overall dining experience.

Nestled on Sauchiehall Street, the family-owned Meat Joint exudes a warm, inviting atmosphere. The chic stone walls and plush leather booths created a stylish backdrop for our night out.
Meat Joint’s competitive pricing surprised us pleasantly. We savoured a sumptuous 1200g Tomahawk Steak for two for only £79, which was not only a treat for our taste buds but also for our wallets.
We also sampled their medium rare sirloin steak. It had a juicy, succulent, and irresistibly tasty flavour profile.
The real star of the show was the Chateaubriand, a masterpiece cooked to perfection. This left an indelible impression on our taste buds.
Our visit was further enriched by the availability of gift vouchers, making it an excellent choice for special occasions. You can choose between a monetary amount or enticing promotional deals – ideal for regular visits and special celebrations.
However, not every cut of meat lived up to our expectations, with the Cote de Boeuf falling short in terms of quality. It had an inconsistent quality that left some parts tougher than desired.
To make matters less enjoyable, when providing feedback, we encountered a senior waiter who came across as condescending. We were disappointed and hope this was an isolated case.
Lastly, the bustling atmosphere of the restaurant created quite a noisy ambiance, making it less suitable for intimate conversations.

Entering Tiffney’s Steakhouse, we immediately liked its cosy atmosphere with dark ceilings and wooden floors. We learned that the restaurant’s name pays homage to the owners’ American heritage, setting the stage for a unique steak dinner.
What sets Tiffney’s apart is the quality of their Scotch prime beef. Sourcing the finest cuts from the North East and Speyside, they age the meat for over 70 days in their humidity-controlled meat locker, injecting tenderness and flavour.
Our culinary journey began with their extra matured fillet steak, served off the bone. This exceptional cut had been dry-aged for a remarkable 84 days, resulting in a steak that was unbelievably tender – truly a special treat!
For our main course, we opted for the fillet steak with peppercorn sauce, accompanied by garlic rosemary roasted potatoes and chilli broccoli. The perfectly cooked steak was complemented by the aromatic herbs and well-seasoned sides.
The ribeye, paired with a bone marrow jus, was equally exquisite, showcasing the chef’s expertise.
We also appreciated their attentive and friendly service. For instance, we witnessed their personal touch – writing “Happy Anniversary” on the other diner’s affogato plate.
However, it’s worth noting that this level of culinary excellence comes at a premium, as some menu items are quite pricey.
Additionally, Tiffney’s enforces a two-hour dining limit per reservation and requires a small deposit to secure your booking.
For families with young children, plan for an early dinner, as the restaurant implements a no-children policy after 7 p.m.
