The 5 Best Personal Trainers in Aberdeen

The 6 Best Personal Trainers in Aberdeen

How We Chose

Qualifications

A personal trainer should have a certification in fitness, exercise science, human movement, or similar qualifications. Gyms with training services should also have certified first aid personnel on call.

Experience

We looked into how long these gyms and their trainers have worked in the industry, and how knowledgeable they are about various modern health and fitness techniques.

Venue and Equipment

We also rate the quality of their venue and equipment, and if these are helpful to the comfort and growth of their clients.

Client Satisfaction

This criteria matters because actual client results and feedback are important ways to determine a trainer’s capabilities.

Cost

Lastly, included gyms and trainers that charge in accordance with the services they offer.

Pros

  • Open for sessions 24/7
  • Specialisations in resistance, sports-specific, and bodybuilding training
  • Fully private facility

Cons

  • Only three trainers to choose from
  • No female trainers

Craig Nicol Fitness or CN Fitness is a state-of-the-art gym in Aberdeen that’s dedicated to providing one-on-one personal training. This fitness training company has been around for ten years and has helped hundreds of people.

CN Fitness is located near Mounthooly Roundabout and offers 24/7 free parking – which we find useful, as their gym is also open for 24 hours. Their facility is fully private to encourage focused and uncompromised training sessions for their valued clients.

The three in-house trainers all have their niches and are ready to provide training at whatever time you choose to book them. Owner Craig Nicol specialises in resistance training, Greg Anderson in sports-specific training, and Matt Fraser in bodybuilding.

We are also pleased to find that they offer online coaching services that encompass nutrition, lifestyle, training programmes, and weekly check-ins to receive feedback and support from your coach. Consultations are also free of charge, which we appreciate.

They also boast a perfect 5/5 average rating on Google Reviews and Top-Rated online, which seals their spot as one of the best personal training services in Aberdeen. They have no female trainers on their roster, however, which could deter some women.

Having only three trainers also limits their specialisation offerings as well, although those that are looking for resistance, sports-specific, and bodybuilding training are in luck. That said, we find that CN Fitness trainers have truly proven themselves.

Pros

  • Offers a variety of services
  • Beginner-friendly and suitable for groups
  • Has a total of six trainers

Cons

  • Smaller gym
  • Online coaching package is pricey

Barry Stephen Personal Training’s team of experts has been at the forefront of personal training in Aberdeen for 12 years. We love how they have a variety of services offered, such as 121 Personal Training and Small Group Personal Training.

They are an exclusively members-only gym, but personal training clients don’t need to pay for a gym membership. The gym itself isn’t the biggest in the city, but we think it’s located in an accessible area and has all the proper equipment.

Barry Stephen Personal Training has five male trainers, one female trainer, and a female administrator and instructor. They’re also very beginner-friendly, as they offer group PT, buddy sessions, classes, and fitness retreats.

We also love that they have free mobility, home workout plan, recipe, and exercise manual e-books available to download on their website. We think that this helps people to gain an interest in fitness and eventually approach them for one-on-one.

Although their in-person training programme has quite an average rate, we find that their online 121 coaching is a bit costly due to its three-month minimum sign-up. But perhaps this also encourages those at home to stick to it without in-person guidance.

All in all, we think that Barry Stephen Personal Training provides services that help build a sense of community among members. Their venue is also unlike most commercial gyms, which also helps clients feel more welcomed and at home.

Pros

  • Offers unique fitness programmes
  • Venue is spacious and has quality equipment
  • Dedicated to clients

Cons

  • Brand and regimens catered mostly to women
  • Smaller range of services

Lois Loves Fitness Aberdeen is run by Lois Simpson, who’s been in the fitness industry for 10 years, becoming a qualified PT at the age of 21. Lois also works alongside PT academy as a mentor and accessor to help out other aspiring PTs.

Lois offers a total of five online and one-to-one sessions, as well as more specific ones including an 8-Week Fat Loss for Christmas programme, a Lift With Lois-Lower Body Edition programme, and a Feel Good Photo Shoot.

She also offers to create gym plans and meal plans for her clients, as she has had a lot of experience and understanding of diet and gut health – nonetheless, we also encourage everyone to seek out a certified professional for this purpose.

Lois holds her in-person sessions in Apex Fitness located in the Westhill area of Aberdeen, a spacious venue with a great range of kits. We also appreciate how it isn’t as crowded as most other gyms, so even fitness newbies will feel more comfortable.

Although her brand is primarily marketed toward providing fitness advice for women, Lois also coaches couples and male individuals. This isn’t entirely a downside, but men with more specific concerns might want to consult other trainers.

Like the trainers at CN Fitness Personal Training, Lois Loves Fitness also boasts a perfect 5/5 consumer rating on Google Reviews and Top-Rated online from past clients, making them one of the most trustworthy personal trainers in Aberdeen.

Pros

  • Gym is open for 24 hours
  • Tackles wide range of concerns
  • Inclusive training even for clients with health issues

Cons

  • Website interface hard to navigate
  • Less focus on online services

Yet another highly-rated personal training service in Aberdeen is Aesthetics Personal Training. They’re based at The Warehouse Club, but they also work outdoors and at various locations depending on client’s preferences and requirements.

True to its name, Aesthetics Personal Training specialises in assisting individuals to pursue their dream physique, regardless of ability or medical condition. They have worked with a diverse number of people for years as one of the best in the industry.

We’ve noticed that clients come to them for a wide range of concerns such as bodybuilding, fat loss, competition prep, rehabilitation, athletic performance, strength training, as well as help with rehabilitation.

Some of their trainers are medically trained and work alongside GPs and other NHS staff to provide the best training even for clients who have undergone major surgery, cancer or chemotherapy, disability, eating disorders, and mental health issues.

We think of them as a sort of jack-of-all-trades when it comes to training for health improvement and aesthetics, which makes them quite a unique company. Because of the nature of their services, they focus more on hands-on training and less on online.

We think that Aesthetics Personal Training is the place to go if you find that their specialisations align with your own needs. They also offer permanent discounts on their packages, which makes their services affordable, too.

Pros

  • Three-floor building with over 80 pieces of equipment
  • Houses freelance trainers and training companies
  • Affordable membership rates

Cons

  • PT rates vary depending on who you work with
  • Not a lot of info available on their website
  • Place can be busy at times

The Warehouse Health Club is one of Aberdeen’s longest-running gym and health clubs with over 30 years under its belt. Although they are primarily a health club, they have a team of freelance personal trainers that offer exclusive services to its members.

We’re impressed with their three-floor building filled with over 80 pieces of cardio and weight machines. The building also has separate saunas, a steam room, and their prized amenity – a 17-metre heated swimming pool with a separate bubble pool.

Moving on to the focus of this article, The Warehouse Health Club offers fitness training services from several freelancers and training companies. Among them is Aesthetics Personal Training, which is also one of the most highly rated on our list.

The Warehouse Health Club also offers 11 guided fitness classes including yoga, aqua Zumba, pilates, and step sessions. If you avail of any membership package, the club will provide a one-hour induction with a personal trainer to help you get the hang of it.

That said, there is not much detailed information about their available trainers online, so you would have to enquire by contacting them or visiting the gym itself. And because the gym space is massive, there are quite a lot of people who train here.

Still, we can’t help but be impressed with their affordable membership prices and their incredible facilities. It’s a great place to get acquainted with different personal trainers and see who you can best work with.
