Aberdeen’s 3 Go-To Osteopathy Clinics for Pain Relief and Posture

Qualifications and Expertise – We highlighted osteopaths who actually know what they’re doing, meaning they’re fully certified and registered, have specialisations in various areas like sports injuries or rehabilitation, and a proven track record.

Clinic Environment – We picked out clinics that were easy to get to, whether by public transport or car and well-maintained, with a calm and professional atmosphere. We prioritised clinics that had accessible features, such as wheelchair-friendly entrances, lifts, and ground-floor treatment rooms.

Treatment Approach – We went for osteopaths who treat with you in mind, from initial consultations to get to the root of the issue to aftercare treatment. We highlighted practitioners who are attentive to your body’s needs and personalise their approach to your body’s needs and pace of recovery.

Value for Money – We considered clinics that had fair pricing for their services, preferably with clear costs listed upfront. We highlighted those that balance both affordability and accessibility, such as through flexible payment plans and NHS-supported options.

Got “tech neck”? Join the club, mate. It’s the modern-day ache that comes from hours of doom-scrolling and binge-watching with our heads tilted forward. Just talking about it makes my neck tense up. And trust me, all that screen time and slouching really does add up, leaving your back and shoulders in knots.

Thankfully, Aberdeen isn’t short of skilled osteopaths who can help straighten things out (pun totally intended). Jokes aside, it’s probably about time that you book that appointment. Your spine deserves some proper TLC after being hunched over like Gollum all day.

Don’t worry, we’ve done all the legwork for you, combing through the city to find the best clinics in Aberdeen that tick all the right boxes: accessible locations, world-class techniques, and osteopaths who really know their stuff. Read on to learn more!

The Aberdeen Osteopathy Clinic is led by Abdul Abu-Laban, who brings over 18 years of experience and specialises in sports injuries and post-injury recovery. The rest of the team provides well-rounded care through osteopathy, massages, stretching, and dry needling.

They also offer osteopathy for your little ones, with gentle treatments made just for their babies with sleep issues, to teens dealing with postural problems.

While we like that their prices are transparent, they don’t offer free initial consultations. Instead, it’s included in the first visit, which costs £80, with continuing treatment set at £70.

While their rates are within the normal range in Aberdeen, we think that they still sit on the higher end for general osteopathy services. Still, with appointments, especially their evening slots, filling up quickly, booking ahead is definitely recommended.

On the bright side, we appreciate that their clinic is centrally located with ground-floor access, making visits easy and hassle-free. Plus, there’s the bonus of free nearby parking.

Pros

  • Ground-floor access
  • Free parking nearby
  • Transparent pricing
  • Child-friendly treatments available
  • Flexible appointment options

Cons

  • Prices are slightly on the higher end
  • No free initial consultation

Always professional and accommodating

“I first visited Abdul a few years ago with numbness in my hand which I had for a long time. He quickly diagnosed the problem started from my neck and after a few sessions I was pain free. This has been maintained by regular visits. I recently had severe pain in my upper leg which Abdul managed to pinpoint and treat immediately although I had suffered on and off for months. I cannot recommend him highly enough and also the pre-treatment massages from his team. Always professional and accommodating while taking a holistic approach to treatment.”

Extremely pleased with the care, attention and treatment

“I have been using Abdul and his specialised massage therapists for ten years now. I have also had my daughter attend and we are always extremely pleased with the care, attention and treatment we are provided with. Abdul and his team will not simply just take your money and do weekly treatments if you are not improving he will provide referrals unlike some other practices in Aberdeen. You are massaged for every osteopath treatment and are not ushered out the door asap. Highly recommend”

Founded in 1991, the Brooks-Carter Clinic has been a trusted name in Aberdeen. It’s run by Maggie Brooks-Carter,  who co-founded the clinic with the late Nick Carter,

Their team brings an impressive depth of experience. Alistair Napier has over eight years of specialised knowledge in sports and back pain to the clinic, while Sean Paynter adds more than 17 years of hands-on practice.

The clinic also works with a team of self-employed therapists, with appointments from Monday through Sunday, with evening hours on weekdays, for added convenience.

Beyond standard massages, the clinic also offers more advanced treatment options, like Ozone Injection Therapy, Chinese cupping, and Qi Gong, to name a few.

We also appreciate that there’s a dedicated page to meet the team, giving patients a chance to learn more about each practitioner before booking an appointment.

While prices are available upfront, initial consultations aren’t free. Still, their prices are reasonable, charging £60 for the first visit and £50 for follow-ups.

Pros

  • Over 30+ years of industry experience
  • Flexible appointment options
  • Nearby car park and street parking
  • Wide range of treatments and advanced options
  • Transparent pricing
  • Open daily

Cons

  • No free initial consultation
  • Relatively small team

“Very impressive place! I was suddenly hit with terrible lower back pain and i was able to get an emergency appointment on a Sunday with Harold. He immediately knew what the issue was and was very thorough with the treatment.

I have since been in to see Alistar too and he is also excellent. I would certainly refer anyone i know that’s struggling with any body pains to this establishment. Thanks again guys”

“Maggie has wonderful hands and an extensive knowledge of the body, which together means she’s a great osteopath. I always feel the benefits of treatment when I have the need to call on her. I am so happy to have found her.”

Broomhill Clinic is one of the more established on this list, having started as a humble osteotherapy practice in 1985. Since then, it has grown to offer a range of wellness services.

We appreciate that they offer osteotherapy for both adults and children, and even better,  they have a dedicated practitioner for each. This ensures a more tailored, age-appropriate care and better overall experience.

However, the clinic can get busy and appointments can fill up quickly, so it’s best to book in advance. Also, it’s worth noting that they’re closed on the weekends and main hours end at 5:30 PM.

The upside is, their pricing is reasonable and clearly listed, with sessions costing £60. That said, we were a tad bummed to find that initial consultations aren’t complimentary.

Even then, we think that Broomhill Clinic remains a strong choice for anyone seeking osteopathy, especially if you’re located in Aberdeen’s West End.

Pros

  • Long-established clinic
  • Dedicated osteopath for adults and children
  • Transparent pricing
  • Wide range of wellness services

Cons

  • Closed on weekends
  • Relatively small team
  • Initial consultations aren’t complimentary

“I started seeing Anne earlier this year while I was preparing for a marathon; I’ve suffered from a tight, painful upper back for years and knew I’d need some help to get me through my training.

I’ve seen numerous specialists over the years, but none as good as Anne. She completely understands my back issues and the treatment she provides has got me to a stage where I can live a relatively pain free life. The ultimate testament is that my upper back didn’t bother me once during my marathon a couple of weeks back.

Can’t thank her enough for her help, and will absolutely be keeping up with my appointments.”

“I found the service and treatment to be first class and would recommend the clinic to anyone who suffers painfully from an event like a prolapsed disc such as I have been.”
