5 Best Acupuncture Clinics in Glasgow

7 Best Acupuncture Clinics in Glasgow

How We Picked

Acupuncturist

First, we checked out the technical skills and the bedside manner of the acupuncturists in the clinics. Doing so helped assess their level of expertise and their ability to make clients feel at ease.

Qualifications

The years of experience of each clinic and their accreditations or recognitions were also looked at to help gauge their credentials.

Ambiance

Acupuncture clinics should help make their clients feel comfortable, so we assessed the aesthetics, amenities, and cleanliness of each place as well.

Price

We also checked out clinics that have different price points so that you can choose which ones can accommodate your budget.

Pros

  • Spacious, well-lit, and calming space
  • Has over 20 years of experience
  • Free consultation
  • Competitively-priced acupuncture sessions
  • Session had a relaxing effect
  • Offers acupuncture bundles

Cons

  • Slight reddening for those with sensitive skin
  • Closed on Sundays

We popped into the Xinglinchun Clinic in Glasgow for an acupuncture session, and we were dead impressed with the set-up.

First, the place was proper spacious, with loads of natural light, and the white walls and wooden floors really added to the calming atmosphere.

Another thing that impressed us was Dr. Liu. Turns out, he has over 20 years of experience in Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, and even graduated with a BSc. in Chinese Medicine from Hebei Medical University!

We were quite chuffed with our free consultation. Dr. Liu was an absolute gem in helping us go over the various services they offer.

The acupuncture session itself cost £40, which we thought was a cracking good deal, considering the expertise of Dr. Liu.

After the sesh, we felt quite chilled out, like we’ve just had a good night’s sleep. We had massive smiles on our faces and agreed to book another session next month.

For those who’d like to save some quid, we do recommend the clinic’s bundles. For instance, when you buy six sessions, you get one free, and when you buy ten sessions, you get two free.

After a bit, we noticed some slight reddening in certain parts of our skin. But as we’ve been told, it’s a bog-standard thing for those with sensitive skin – thankfully, it faded quickly after a few hours.

Also, keep in mind that they’re closed on Sundays, which may be inconvenient for some.

Pros

  • Offers specialised forms of acupuncture
  • Members of prestigious organisations
  • Offers auricular acupuncture
  • Also offers cosmetic acupuncture
  • Proven tension release after treatment

Cons

  • Treatment area was a bit cluttered
  • Does not offer free consultation
  • Slightly pricier

We also visited Ming Chen Clinic which is another solid acupuncture clinic in Glasgow. If you’re looking for a place that offers specialised forms of acupuncture, then this clinic might be for you.

We did some snooping beforehand and learned that they’re members of the British Acupuncture Clinic and The Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners (FTCMP). These credentials made us feel like we’d be in capable hands.

We first tried out their unique auricular acupuncture session, which involves stimulating the points on the ear.

The tingling sensation in our ears felt a bit odd, but we were assured that it’s all part of the process. After a while, we felt the tension melt away, and it was a proper calming experience!

For those who want to reduce the signs of ageing, they also offer cosmetic acupuncture.  This is a nifty, natural way to reduce the signs of ageing and promote healthier skin.

Sadly, we felt the clinic was a bit too cluttered for our liking. There was an old-fashioned lamp on the corner, a few knick-knacks on shelves and on the floor, and some wall decor – as a whole, the effect was a bit distracting.

In addition, unlike other clinics, they don’t offer free consultation. Each consultation costs £20, which might not be ideal for those on a tight budget.

Their prices are also slightly higher than some other clinics, with each acupuncture sesh costing £50 a pop.

Finally, the clinic is closed on Thursdays and Sundays, which could be inconvenient for some people.

Pros

  • Charming, well-lit space
  • Friendly staff members
  • Has several academic qualifications
  • Offers acupuncture bundles
  • Delicate needle technique

Cons

  • Felt a bit rushed
  • Comparatively limited range of services
  • Closed on Thursdays and Sundays

The Chinese Medicine Centre in Glasgow is a charming little place that offers acupuncture treatments. Its shop front is stark white, and the inside is well-lit and lovely.

When we popped in for a visit, the staff member was smiling and friendly, making us feel ever so welcome. After chatting with her a bit, we learned that the practitioners here have a combined 70 years of experience!

Apart from holding a diploma from Guangzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine University, the practitioners also boast a Masters Degree in Acupuncture. We found this impressive, boosting our confidence in their credibility.

We booked one acupuncture session, which cost us £50. However, we found out that if we booked three, we would only have to pay £135, which we thought was a great deal!

It was a jolly good day to give them a go, as some of us were feeling slightly under the weather.

We liked how skilled our practitioner was. His needle technique was so delicate that we barely felt the needles as they pierced our skin.

Sadly, during our session, the practitioner seemed to be in a bit of a rush, which left us feeling like we didn’t get the full benefit of the treatment. We would have appreciated more time to unwind and completely indulge in the experience.

Furthermore, the range of services they offered was comparatively limited. We would have liked to try out other forms of acupuncture.

We also found out that they’re closed on Thursdays and Sundays. This could mean that they’re more likely to be booked up and have less time for each individual patient.

Pros

  • Featured in popular media shows and publications
  • Registered with prestigious organisations
  • Great personality
  • Awesome facial rejuvenation acupuncture treatment

Cons

  • Steep initial consultation fee
  • Reports of acupuncture treatments for eczema not working
  • Closed three days a week

We also paid a visit to Hui Chun Clinic, an established traditional Chinese medicine clinic that was founded in 1986. We found the place to be a bit tiny but still charming.

First, we were impressed with Dr. Wei-Xiong Chen since he seems to have quite the following! For instance, he has been featured in The Daily Record, The Evening Times, The Sunday Mail, The Sunday Post, The Herald, BBC Radio, BBC1.

Dr. Chen’s also registered with the British Acupuncture Council, the Association of TCM (UK), and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine. It definitely makes us trust that he’s a top-notch practitioner who knows his onions.

He greeted us warmly and showed us around his clinic, explaining the different treatments available. We thought he had a brilliant personality, which immediately put us at ease.

We went for their facial rejuvenation acupuncture treatment and we were quite pleased with the results! Our skin looked visibly younger and fresher, and we’re excited for our mates to give it a go as well!

One downside is that the initial consultation fee is steep at £50, while other clinics offer it for free or only charge £20. However, we felt that the consultation was very thorough and informative, and we appreciated his attention to detail.

The clinic is closed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, which can be inconvenient for some patients.

Also, there have been reports of acupuncture treatments for eczema not working. This could be a bit of a worry for those looking for relief from this condition.

Pros

  • Free 15 minute appointment
  • Open and warm personality, with a light touch during sessions
  • Initial session is 90 minutes long
  • Elegant treatment room
  • Left us feeling calm and renewed

Cons

  • Closed three days a week
  • Comparatively limited range of services

For those seeking alternative health treatments like acupuncture in Glasgow, Elaine Collins Acupuncture and Wellbeing is another brilliant choice.

One of the cool things about this place is that they provide a free 15 minute appointment, unlike other clinics. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to have a proper chat with Elaine.

We discovered that Elaine became a qualified Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York back in 2006. To top that off, she has trained with some of the most distinguished licenced acupuncturists in the field!

During our appointment, we also found Elaine to be quite open and warm. She took the time to walk us through the acupuncture process and even shared some tips for maintaining our mental health.

We opted for a traditional acupuncture session. Since this is our initial session, it will be 90 minutes long, which we appreciate.

We were smitten by the rather posh treatment room, featuring huge windows, a skylight, and tasteful wooden floors. Overall, it exuded a calming vibe, helping us feel at ease throughout the acupuncture session.

We were also pleasantly surprised by the light touch of Elaine’s acupuncture technique. It left us feeling calm and renewed, making the experience all the more enjoyable.

One potential downside is that they’re closed three days a week. This might be inconvenient for those who have busy schedules.

Additionally, while the clinic offers a range of services, the selection is more limited than at other acupuncture clinics we’ve visited. Some people may need more specialised treatments, depending on their health condition.
