SUEZ Recycling & Recovery has been a trusted name in the game since 1988. In Aberdeen, their operations are centered at the Altens East Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), which has been running since 2017 and handles both household and commercial waste disposal.

When it comes to their services, it’s a robust mix with comprehensive offerings. It covers recycling, waste transfer, and advanced processing. Plus, with their scale of expertise, you can expect a responsible approach to waste management.

For residents, it’s worth noting that you can sign up to be a part of the pick-up schedules, which are managed by the city council. This way, you don’t need to get your hands dirty and can leave the waste disposal to the experts.

But here’s the hitch: their customer service performance varies. Many clients have reported good communication and reliable collections, while others have faced challenges such as missed pick-ups and delays.

Pricing also isn’t always straightforward, as their services are bundled within council contracts. Hence, there may be additional fees depending on your needs.

Pros

  • Established expertise
  • Comprehensive services
  • Convenient scheduling via the Aberdeen City Council

Cons

  • Customer service inconsistency
  • Limited direct control over scheduling and individual requests
  • Pricing is not always transparent (custom quotes needed)

Very good and they are very polite

“The lady and gentleman that’s on are very good and they are polite and have good manners and if your struggling with stuff they come and give you a hand to take the stuff from your car to the skip and they always say hello even if they are busy helping somebody else”

– Derek Johnson, Google Review

Staff friendly and helpful here

“Always find the staff friendly and helpful here. Wasn’t aware (during my visit today) of the new rule that YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE SOME ID that proves you live in the correct area to use the site. The lady that greeted us on arrival explained this and waited patiently whilst I (at some length) searched for and found suitable proof on my electronic device (having left my wallet at home). It’s a frustrating rule but I assume that it’s not made by the staff themselves and I found that they were dealing with it as efficiently and reasonably as they could.”

EIS Waste Services Ltd is a proudly independent waste disposal company that has been serving the Aberdeen community for over 40 years. With expertise spanning waste collection, recycling, and disposal across multiple sectors, it’s no surprise they’ve built a diverse client base.

No, seriously. They’ve got an answer for virtually everything. Papers and cardboards? Their Mixed Recycling Facility (DMR). Green waste? They’re partners with Keenan Recycling. Solvents and lab chemicals? They offer hazardous and confidential waste services, too.

Another highlight is their dedicated account management and GPS fleet tracking, giving you additional peace of mind. This is also reflected in their customer praises and solid reviews for their prompt and efficient services.

Note that their pricing scheme isn’t readily available as custom quotes are needed, and some services, like their skip hire, may have additional fees. But if we’re talking about reliable and comprehensive waste management, EIS is an undeniable frontrunner.

Pros

  • Extensive service range
  • Strong environmental credentials
  • Reliable operations

Cons

  • Pricing is not always transparent (custom quotes needed)

No issues at all

All of the team were first class

“The experience we have had has been excellent. All of the team were first class. From the drivers who were very capable of manoeuvring a small space and very polite. Kim who organised the hire and collection was so accommodating. We would use again and highly recommend. Thank you”

A&M Smith Recycling Services Ltd originally began as a skip hire service, but later expanded to support larger operations in 2001. Today, it offers a wide selection of services, from dry and trade waste collection to offshore containerised waste recycling.

For everyday residents, their specialised recycling is worth taking note of, as A&M can do timber processing into wood fibre or animal bedding, and even reclaim granite materials, such as lintels and sills, for resale. In our opinion, it’s a smart bonus that directly supports the circular economy.

They’re also leaders in environmental responsibility, operating in a solar-powered site and with a specialisation in sorting, recycling, composting, and reclamation. With this approach, you can be confident in knowing that A&M relies minimally on landfill.

For transparency on cost, you’ll need to request a quotation tailored to your needs. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for comprehensive services backed by strong environmental credentials, A&M surely stands out.

Pros

  • Localised expertise
  • Strong focus on sustainability
  • Specialised waste handling

Cons

  • Some notes on delays with skip collections

Quick and overall did a great job

“David and Kevin did a great job removing my bathroom. Both were friendly, quick and overall did a great job. Both are deserving of some praise given the waste was on the third floor. Thanks again.”

– Joel William, Google Reviews

Easy to arrange

“Good prices, ideal for our house clear out.  Easy to arrange with next day  dropped off and collection, even with the challenges caused by the heavy snow.”
