We first decided to visit Little Vietnam Restaurant. From the moment we stepped in, we were welcomed by the staff and the inviting aroma of authentic Vietnamese cuisine.

First off, I love the fact that they’re open all week. Whether it’s a weekday craving or a weekend treat, you can count on them to satisfy your craving.

Plus, with over 20 years of experience, you know you’re in good hands when it comes to authenticity.

The ambiance was a ten for me. The restaurant’s spacious setting – with ample seating for up to 100 guests and beautiful Vietnamese-styled decor – truly transports you to Vietnam.

I was delighted to find a decent selection of vegetarian options on their menu. It’s always nice to have choices, and Little Vietnam certainly didn’t disappoint in this aspect.

Coffee is a quintessential part of Vietnamese culture, and we were pleasantly surprised to see a good range of coffee options. And let me tell you, the Vietnamese egg coffee they served was simply delightful – a must-try for coffee lovers!

When it came to the main course, we were blown away by the generous portions and spot on flavours. I couldn’t resist ordering the beef pho and fresh spring rolls – both were absolutely delicious.

Unfortunately, they don’t serve alcohol. Also, we did experience some wait time, with our food taking over an hour to arrive.

We visited Non Viet Restaurant on a Saturday night. The restaurant itself is quite large, with plenty of space for both small groups and larger parties.

I have to commend them for being vegetarian-friendly and offering vegan and gluten-free options. It’s always nice to see restaurants catering to different dietary preferences. 

The waiter was quite helpful and informative. He not only took our orders but also explained which dishes paired well with which sauces. 

The beef brisket stew was an absolute winner for me. The flavours were rich and savoury, and the meat was tender and flavourful.

For dessert, we decided to try the creamy jackfruit ice cream, a traditional North Vietnamese treat. The ice cream had a unique flavour that we thoroughly enjoyed.

Sadly, I found the beef pho to be somewhat underwhelming. The soup lacked the rich flavours I was hoping for and ended up tasting more like plain water.

As for the drinks, I couldn’t resist ordering an espresso martini, and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly balanced and gave me the right kick of caffeine and alcohol.

If you’re going with a group, Non Viet offers two set menu options: The Mixed Set Menu at £33/person and the Vegetarian Set Menu at £31/person. These are quite convenient for sharing and sampling various dishes. 

On the downside, the wait time for our order was a bit longer than expected.

Lastly, it’s worth mentioning that a 10% service charge is applied to tables with 5 people or more. 

Hanoi Bike Shop in the West End of Glasgow really brings the spirit of Vietnam to life! First off, we were happy with its charming and quirky ambiance; the colourful space and lovely lanterns hanging from the rafters perked us right up.

Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and gave us perfect recommendations. He was also super accommodating to the vegans in our group, making sure everyone had a great dining experience.

One of the highlights for me was their delicious homemade tofu, which they make from scratch every day. It was absolutely delightful and had a wonderful texture.

I also loved the option to build our own pho. You get to choose your favourite extras and even adjust the spice level to your liking.

In addition, their caramelised chicken was simply delicious! The perfect blend of sweet and savoury flavours really hit the spot.

To accompany the scrumptious food, Hanoi Bike Shop serves a variety of cocktails, wine, and beer. I particularly enjoyed their gin cocktail—it was delicious!

On the downside, they’re closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so plan your visit accordingly.

Unfortunately, it took around 40 minutes for the drinks to arrive and a whole hour for the food to reach our table. So, make sure you’re not in a rush when you visit.

Lastly, due to their cooking environment, they cannot guarantee a complete absence of allergens in their dishes. If you have any specific dietary requirements, it’s best to check with them beforehand.

Conveniently located less than half a mile from George Square, Pho Viet is open all week, making it an accessible choice to satisfy your desire for homey Vietnamese cuisine.

I was impressed by their menu, which features a wide range of Vietnamese dishes from different regions. Whether you’re craving classic or street food dishes, they’ve got fresh and authentic ingredients for you to enjoy.

One thing I appreciate about Pho Viet is their consideration for vegetarians, with several options available on the menu. 

Speaking of their food, the pho was outstanding! It had that authentic flavour that left us feeling refreshed and satisfied.

Now, here’s a surprising highlight: the stir-fried frog legs with lemongrass and chillies. It’s a unique and delightful dish that’s definitely worth trying, especially if you’re feeling adventurous.

Another plus was how kid-friendly the restaurant was. There was a young child dining there during our visit, and the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating, making it a welcoming environment for families.

On the downside, I must admit that the entranceway to the restaurant wasn’t the most inviting, and the overall tidiness of the place was a bit concerning.

Additionally, the drink selection is comparatively limited, which might be a minor letdown for those looking for an extensive beverage menu.

Lastly, do keep in mind that Pho Viet closes early at 8 PM.

Little Hoi An is a hidden gem that you won’t want to miss. Situated on Allison Street, this charming spot started as a pop-up, but now it has a permanent home in Glasgow.

First off, I was thrilled to discover that Little Hoi An made it to GlasgowLive’s Top 50 Restaurants at the West End. That alone raised my expectations, and boy, did it deliver! 

One thing that stood out was their commitment to quality – they sell what they eat, so you can be sure there’s no MSG and just the right amount of salt in their dishes.

I opted for the crunchy chicken in sweet chilli sauce. Paired with fragrant jasmine rice, it was a match made in heaven.

But the real showstopper for me was the flat rice noodles with beef. I couldn’t get enough, and I regretted not ordering double portions. My friend also mentioned that their caramelised pork is a must-try.

As a bonus, the prices were surprisingly reasonable, making it a great value for the exceptional food they serve. 

However, do note that they’re closed on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, and they open a little later at 5 PM.

As for the ambiance, it’s worth mentioning that the space is relatively small, so if you’re planning a big group outing, it might not be the best fit.
