Pros
- Over 60 years of expertise
- 20 specialist sectors in Glasgow
- Accommodates for temporary, permanent, remote, and hybrid roles
Cons
- Talent pool is not often updated regarding opportunities
- Poor communications
Reed Recruitment Agency is one of the world’s largest family-run recruitment businesses with offices across the UK, Europe, USA, the Middle East, and East Asia. They now have over 60 years of service and a strong team of 3,400 co-members.
We’ve seen them lead the way in the industry with some of the best recruitment solutions and comprehensive knowledge. Their latest venture, Reed Franchise Partnerships, has boosted their international partners’ networks extensively.
They have 20 specialist sectors in Glasgow including finance, business administration, engineering, healthcare, legal, marketing, sales, technology, and others. They even accept more niche applications such as creatives, social work, and aerospace.
In terms of services, we were pleased to find they can provide temporary, permanent, remote, or hybrid positions for those who are looking. Consultants are also very on-hand when it comes to offering CV advice, salary guidance, and overall support.
We also like how they have free-to-access blog posts that are useful for both job seekers and companies that are hiring. However, we discovered that their Glasgow branch struggles with keeping talents updated with opportunities.
Their communication systems could use some improvement, as clients have had to follow up on their applications a few times. Other than that, Reed has successfully paired workers and companies for years and has been well-rated across several sites.

Pros
- Efficient digital recruitment process
- Award-winning customer service
- Trusted by employers and job seekers
Cons
- Some inaccuracies with pay
- Narrower selection of specialist sectors
Another one of Scotland’s leading recruitment agencies is Allstaff. They have 40 years of experience under their belt and are relied upon by International Corporates, SMEs & start-ups.
They specialise in supplying temporary and permanent staff for jobs in manufacturing, warehouse, logistics, office support, and professional services. Even job seekers outside of Glasgow bank on their recruitment and consultancy services.
We found that they have a particular digital recruitment process and that they try to maintain a one-hour response time. Because of their customer service, they proudly hold a Rocco Outstanding Business award which was won in 2018.
Moreover, Allstaff is highly recommended not only by job seekers but also employers that have worked with them. They were also able to successfully provide services even during the most tumultuous times of the pandemic, which we deem impressive.
As for cons, we discovered that some individuals that found work via Allstaff had had erroneous wages due to discrepancies in holiday pay, bonuses, and other matters. Some of them had to handle the matter on their own.
Moreover, they have a narrower selection of specialist sectors, which limits their talent pool significantly. We hope that Allstaff will continue to make efforts in delivering accurate pay for their clients and possibly expand their sectors in the future.

Pros
- Operates on a modern, fast-paced manner
- Matches candidates and employers well
- Trusted by tech, IT, and engineering companies
Cons
- Focused on STEM recruitment
- Prioritises graduates
Nine Twenty Recruitment is made up of a team of experts with vast experience and an impressive track record. They’ve helped thousands of professionals find the right job and aided employers with finding the talent they need.
Nine Twenty is focused on technology, IT, and Engineering recruitment. We’ve noticed that they operate in a fast-paced, dynamic, and flexible manner, based on a very modern sort of structure that allows positions to be filled efficiently.
Because of this, they’ve worked with some of the country’s most innovative tech, engineering, and manufacturing businesses. More than 90% of their work comes from repeat business, and many of their new commissions come through referrals.
They’re also constantly trying to streamline their recruitment process and check whether or not candidates’ values and behaviours match with the employers as well. We think this is a great move that will help create more meaningful matches.
That said, we’d like to point out that they are quite particular with prioritising graduates – those with degrees will get more opportunities compared to others, even if they have the same skillset. Moreover, constructive feedback isn’t provided in cases of rejection.
Nine Twenty does this to keep standards they have established and adhere to employer requests. That said, it’s a great recruitment agency to approach if you’re looking for STEM-related career opportunities.

Pros
- Large database of candidates and clients
- Provides equal opportunities
- Over 85 branches across the UK
Cons
- Oversights regarding wages, timesheets, communication
- Narrower selection of workforce sectors
Next on our list is The Best Connection Glasgow, which is another leader when it comes to delivering workforce solutions to the industrial, construction, driving, retail, and warehouse & distribution sectors.
The Best Connection was established in 1991, which makes them one of the youngest on our list. However, they have grown rapidly with now over 85 branches and over 700 full-time staff ready to deliver the best solutions.
We were impressed to find that they have a database of over 110,000 LGV drivers and 300,000 industrial workers, as well as 10,400 clients supplied annually. Moreover, 2,600 of these clients are regulars.
They offer temporary work, personal accident insurance, and equal opportunities regardless of color, nationality, gender, marital status, or disability. They also have a very straightforward recruitment procedure involving basic tests and paperwork.
But because they’re handling such a large number of candidates and clients, The Best Connection sometimes has some oversights when it comes to paying the exact wages, keeping track of timesheets, and responsiveness at times.
We hope The Best Connection resolves these issues, as they are one of the biggest recruitment agencies not just in Glasgow, but in the rest of the UK as well. Much like Allstaff, this is a fabulous agency to apply to if you are in the key industries.

Pros
- Provides guidance and resources to applicants
- Glasgow branch staffed with accommodating people
- Wide range of specialisations
Cons
- Communication is hit-or-miss
- Online applications not as streamlined
Finally, we have Office Angels Glasgow, one of UK’s most recognised when it comes to finding talented professionals. Founded in 1986, the agency has established a specialty in administration and office staff recruitment over the years.
We love that they are with you through the whole process – from providing helpful guides, to creating CVs, to perfecting interview techniques. Whether you’re looking for a full-time, part-time, permanent, or temporary position, they’ve got options for you.
Like Reed, they also have free articles, download resources, and videos that can help applicants learn how to market themselves when the opportunity presents itself. We also find their website easy to navigate.
As for employers, they have three specialist divisions to get in touch with, namely executive, fashion & retail, as well as partnership accounts. All divisions are staffed with accommodating people, and people have good things to say about the Glasgow team.
No agency is without flaws, however, as Office Angels Glasgow is hit or miss when it comes to communication. It would also seem that it’s best to hand in CVs in person rather than online, as they can be a bit slow in sorting those out due to email volume.
Still, Office Angels Glasgow is the agency to turn to if you’re looking for a position in office and secretarial jobs. Plus, they have other specialisations to check out that require a similar skill set.
