Top 10 Hotels in Paisley from Budget Inns to Boutique Castles

The art of choosing can be tricky, especially when the happiness of others depends on your final decision. Sounds dramatic? Maybe a little, but trust me, I earned the right.

I recently had to plan my family’s trip as my parents and siblings were flying in to visit, and let’s just say the accommodation hunt turned into a full-blown quest. Between “no vacancies” signs and skyrocketing prices, luck wasn’t exactly on my side.

But trauma dumping aside, my team and I did some digging to find the best hotels in Paisley for your next stay. Read on to explore cosy stays, great amenities, and options that fit every kind of budget and traveller.

Ashtree House Hotel

Check-in: 2 PM

Check-out: 11 AM

Pricing: £££

Website

Ashtree House Hotel sports a boutique Georgian-townhouse charm, with features like a drawing room, whiskey bar, and brasserie, and a walled courtyard. It’s in a great location, just a few minutes’ walk from Paisley Campus, close to Paisley Gilmour Street Station, and the airport.

You’ll find each room to be furnished and decorated, have quality beddings, toiletries, free WiFI, daily housekeeping, and some have separate sitting areas. If you get hungry and want to stay in, they have an on-site restaurant, coffee shop, and lounge.

It’s also convenient that they have free on-site parking, and if you’re flying in, you can contact them to arrange an airport shuttle service (it runs from early morning to midnight). And if you’re worried about the timing of your flights, contact them if you need to adjust check-in/out times.

Pro tip:

Keep in mind that because the hotel only has around 15 rooms, rates can easily spike up, especially around weekends or event dates. So, if you already have fixed dates, reserve well in advance to lock in better pricing.

Abbey Inn

You might do a double-take if you see Abbey Inn because it’s this pub-hotel hybrid, where you see more people drinking and snacking than lugging their bags through the front door. But don’t get fooled, it’s a solid stay for something affordable and about a 15-minute drive to the airport.

The inn has 12 rooms, and every room ticks all the essentials you might need, such as private en-suite bathrooms, flat screen TVs, hairdryers, and tea/coffee making facilities. They offer rooms that range from single, twin, double, suites, and superior for up to four people.

And as mentioned, their restaurant and bar offer a strong dining choice, especially since many locals just go here strictly for the pub grub and drinks. Plus, some may enjoy the live sports on multiple big screens, or the weekend entertainment like music nights.

Pro tip:

Since there’s no additional 24-hour front desk, try to arrive before the cut-off for check-in (11 PM) to avoid any issues like getting there with no one to assist you immediately.

As you can see, Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport by IHG is pretty close to Glasgow Airport, making it especially useful for early morning or late-night flights. You can choose to either walk or have an incredibly short transfer from the terminal drop-off or pick-up zones.

It also has a restaurant, bar/lounge, coffee shop, snack bar, and 24-hour front desk services. Another thing worth noting is that the hotel is designed to be accessible with elevators, wide lift doors, non-smoking rooms, and accommodations for guests who might need accessible rooms.

The rooms? They’re equipped with things like air-conditioning, blackout curtains, pillow menu, kettle, hair dryer, private bathrooms (shower and tub kind!), flat screen TV, in-room safe, and a desk, which is great for work. That said, there are meeting rooms and a business centre, too.

Pro tip:

Note that breakfast starts early (5-6 AM), which is useful for early flights, but it’s not always included in all rates and can be pricey if you decide to add it later or at the last-minute.

Glynhill Hotel & Spa

To cut to the chase, the best thing about Glynhill Hotel & Spa is that all overnight stays include access to the spa and full leisure facilities, like sauna, steam room, and the gym. Location-wise, it’s near the airport, close to junctions of the M8 motorway, and well-connected to the city centre.

As for their rooms, they offer a range from standard to more premium units. If you want to splurge a bit, there’s one luxury suite, The Glynhill Suite, that has a king bed, a walk-in shower with a large bath, a private lounge area, quality bedding, and modern room amenities.

Now, if you want to grab a bite, you can go to their Club & Terrace restaurant to go for some lunch, dinner, or even high tea. It’s neat that their on-site dining comes with all sorts of offerings, and they even have dietary options for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free items.

Pro tip:

For your furbabies, pets are allowed under certain conditions, such as maximum of two per room, size or weight restrictions, and there’s an additional fee. Also, the hotel offers Park & Fly deals that can save you money if you’re flying.

Dalmeny Park House Hotel

Dalmeny Park House Hotel has a picture-perfect charm that captures the country-house style pretty well. It’s tucked in extensive landscaped gardens, with scenic walking trails, outdoor patios, and a garden patio, making it a popular place for events like weddings.

This hotel has around 20 rooms; each one comes with high-quality beddings (Lily Mattresses, Hungarian goose duvets), king or super-king beds, Silestone vanity bath and shower, and some have sofa beds for extra guests. It’s also nice to hear many people praise the hotel’s cleanliness.

For dining, The Orchid Restaurant, Bar & Lounge provides its guests with modern and classic dishes, with attention to presentation and variety. And as mentioned, their multiple function suites can host large events (weddings, celebrations), plus they even have dedicated event staff.

Pro tip:

It’s a good idea to ask for a room on the lower floor since there’s no lift, especially if you have heavy bags, mobility issues, or prefer less hassle. Also, they usually have promotional or package deals, so check their websites for cheaper dates.

Premier Inn in Paisley is a budget-friendly stay near the airport, which makes for a good base if your trip involves incredibly early or incredibly late flights. And if you’re driving in, they have free on-site parking, and there’s road access, given that it’s located in Phoenix Retail Park.

Many also love how “budget-friendly” doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort. The rooms include standard features like comfy beds, heating, TV, an electric kettle, a private bathroom, a hairdryer, and free WiFi.

One of the perks of staying here is that they offer a breakfast buffet with all sorts of dishes, and they even serve vegetarian and vegan options. There’s also an adjacent Brewers Fayre pub where you can go for some drinks and socialise with other visitors or locals.

Pro tip:

You should know that there can be some noise coming from outside, like the corridors, so asking for a room away from the lift, main entrances, or busy roads is a good idea to avoid the issue from disturbing your sleep.

Sherbrooke Castle Hotel Glasgow

Sherbrooke Castle Hotel looks as grand as its name sounds, a castle built in 1896 in a baronial style using red sandstone featuring turrets, a grand staircase, decorative elements, stained glass, and more. So, expect to be greeted with a Scottish castle vibe rather than a modern hotel.

What’s neat is that this hotel is in Pollockshields, a leafy residential area on the south side of Glasgow. On that note, it’s only about a 10-minute drive to central Glasgow, and about 15 minutes to the airport.

There are many room types and suites: think junior suites in the castle, garden suites, cottage, executive rooms, and a special Tower Suite with a separate lounge. If you get hungry, their Morrison Restaurant offers a lovely experience with the grandeur of fireplaces and traditional decor.

Pro tip:

If you want to immerse yourself in the historic ambiance, request a room in the main castle building (junior suites, tower suite). But if you want fresher decor with a bit more of that modern touch, then go for garden suites or cottages.

Milton Watermill Hotel is an attraction itself, especially since it’s built on the site of a 17th-century flour mill, and retains original elements of the mill within its structure. Conveniently enough, it sits right in the centre of Paisley, just a short walk to Paisley Abbey, the museum, and other spots.

On that note, it’s close to transport hubs, not far from train stations and reasonably close to the airport, making it a decent base if you have flights. If you want to relax, they have a garden, a lounge, and public spaces where guests can take it easy.

Room-wise, many of their rooms have views over the River Hamill or toward Paisley Abbey, equipped with the essentials. You can expect to see private showers, flat-screen TVs, blackout curtains, heating, a kettle, and complimentary toiletries.

Pro tip:

Don’t forget to double-check the inclusions of your bookings. Some room rates might not include meals, and restaurant/room service hours may be limited. If you arrive late, make sure you have your dining plans sorted out.
