Just from scrolling through their webpage, you can tell that Cake Box Edinburgh offers a wide selection, like classic spongers, cheesecakes, brownies, cupcakes, and their seasonal or limited edition flavours. 

The best part? All egg-free. We were quite surprised by this since their cakes didn’t taste like something was missing, so it’s a great place for people avoiding eggs for dietary or allergy reasons.

On top of being eggless, they also have vegetarian ones—in fact, they’re approved by The Vegetarian Society of the United Kingdom. You should avoid them if you have nut allergies, though.

We also like that you can order cakes in any shape, size, and decorations you want to fit your ideas and preferences. And with hand-piped messages, it makes the cake more special. 

Lastly, we have to say that betting on them for last-minute orders is a good idea, since they have several branches and offer online delivery.

What we like most about Licks Cake Design is that they deliver personally rather than using a courier service that might not know how to properly handle cakes, especially multi-tier or sculptural ones. You can be more confident that your order arrives intact.

Logistics aside, their lineup of cake types and flavours is impressive. To name a few, they have plain sponge and jam, coconut, mint, coffee, chocolate-orange, chilli chocolate, and more.

And with this sort of variety, it’s easier for them to elevate their custom cakes, not just with their design and themes, but also in flavour profile and cake type. We also appreciate that they bake everything from scratch, no cake mixes. 

Another thing we have to highlight is that they provide gluten-free or wheat-free cakes for coeliacs, as well as egg-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan cakes. This makes them more accessible and safe for people with sensitive dietary needs. 

Just note that they’re closed on Mondays and Sundays, so planning ahead is a good idea.

Sugar Daddy’s Bakery is a place where you’ll be the one doing the spending and not the other way around. Jokes aside, it’s nice to see the lineup of flavours they have, such as vanilla, chocolate, salted caramel, lemon drizzle, carrot cake, red velvet, and more. 

One thing we love the most is their dedication to being a fully gluten-free kitchen. All of their cakes and baked goods are gluten-free, making them a safe and reliable choice for people with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance.

We also noticed that they’re efficient when it comes to events or corporate orders. They can supply full cakes, cupcakes, boxes of treats and even a cake table if you need one.

The drawback? They don’t fulfil cake orders on Mondays and Tuesdays, so if you’re planning on a last-minute order, then you’ll have to look elsewhere.

On a positive note, it’s reassuring that they can deliver the cake themselves and assemble it on-site if it’s one of those multi-tiered or intricate cakes.

We love that the cakes at The Cake Studio are “picture-perfect,” considering their elegant take on designs for their ready-made cakes and pastries. They offer a broad selection, including mousse cakes, cheesecake, and more elaborate celebration cakes.

Speaking of celebrations, their cakes are suitable for a range of occasions since they can deliver small treats to larger cakes that serve many people. 

Here’s the thing, though: this might not be the best place to order last-minute custom cakes. Sure, they can try to accommodate you, but it’s more doable if you choose ones that are already in stock.

But hey, if you want something nicer than a standard cake without going to a boutique patisserie or ordering a custom one, we believe that their ready-made cakes might fit the bill, plus the elegant packaging they use for every order helps strike a nice middle ground.

Liggy’s Cake Company knows how to match a cake with an occasion. As you browse their website, you can see the variety of themes and designs they offer. 

That said, we have to give them props for their bespoke cake design capabilities. Their team knows how to bring a vision to life, which is great if you want special decorations, particular flavours or sizes, or cakes that match a specific theme. 

You have to understand that they’re not the best pick for last-minute orders, though. Given the time and planning it takes for every custom order, a same-day or even a next-day request might be too tight a timeframe. 

The silver lining is that if you’re ordering for a certain event, their ready-made ones are usually well-decorated, so you can probably work something out if you wish to buy from them.
