Found on the remote shores of Loch Fyne, Kabn Company offers an off-the-grid cabin experience for those who want to destress. They have two cabins, placed 100 metres apart from each other, so guests can enjoy their privacy.
Each one has floor-to-ceiling glass windows, a king-sized bed, an ensuite bathroom, a kitchenette, and a cosy living area. You’ll also have access to a private terrace, beach, and BBQ facilities.

The Treehouses is not an ordinary cabin that you might liken to your childhood playhouse; this is a more upscale take. The Flycatcher, one of their log cabins, has a super king-sized bed, sofa bed, inside shower, fridge, and more.
You’ll even receive a welcome pack filled with local goods like bread, milk, butter, jam, and tea bags. Even though there’s no TV or WiFi, the peaceful surroundings of beech trees and vast parklands are perfect for your getaway.
Pro tip:
If you’re a big group, we suggest you book both the Flycatcher and Willow Warbler since there’s a rope bridge connecting the two cabins.

We all need a little respite from the bustling world, and the Davaar Island Cottages offer just that. They have two luxury cabins and self-catering cottages in a remote location with spectacular sea views from your veranda.
I tried staying in their newly built Minke Cabin, which had everything I needed: a heater, an ensuite bathroom with shower, a large bed, and a fully-equipped kitchen. We all need some alone time and this peaceful retreat was a perfect way to recharge.
Pro tip:
Try waking up early and be on the lookout for different wildlife species on your veranda. If Lady Luck is on your side, you might spot a minke whale (Best Whale Watching Scotland) and dolphins like I did.

As its name suggests, the Big Sky Lodges have spacious cabins that are ideal for families who want to snuggle in between the Scottish Highlands. All of their beautiful lodges were created in Finland that used wood from sustainable forests in Lapland.
Of course, each cabin has everything you need from pet-friendly spaces to WiFi. But we loved their special Scottish breakfast from their butcher – it started our day right!
Pro tip:
Although the WiFi was relatively weak, we took it as an opportunity to explore the area instead. We strolled casually and had a great time looking at the Highland cows from afar.
The Secret Hideaway

We’re letting you in on a little secret: The Secret Hideaway, a great cabin for two that’s just 20 minutes away from Edinburgh! They have comfortable accommodations with private hot tubs and a beautiful lakefront view.
What’s more, it’s located at the foot of the Pentland Hills so you and your significant other can HHWW (hold hands while walking). Or better yet, you can go cycling around the area as you enjoy that fresh air.

Go the extra mile and visit nearby spots like Flotterstone Glen trail, Penicuik House, and Rosslyn Chapel to make more memories. You can ask Sarah for some help in organising a tour if you want to dig deeper into the Old Kirk.

If you’re looking for an excellent place for a staycation with your friends, the Ptarmigan Lodge is a good pick because it allows up to 10 guests in its cabin. It has all the modern amenities you’ll need: a hot tub, large bedrooms, a kitchen, and bathrooms.
But our favourites were the large glass windows and patio area, which offer spectacular views of the River Nethy and Abernethy Forest. We even had a scrumptious meal on their outside dining table while enjoying the peaceful and captivating scenery.
Pro tip:
We suggest you visit popular spots like Loch Garten, Rothiemurchus Forest and Cairngorms National Park since they are located close to the lodge. You can either walk, hike or go mountain biking at these landmarks.

Dun Aluinn is mainly known as a fancy venue offering an engaging whisky experience for guests. But you can rent their lodge, which is separate from their main house, for you and your family.
It has a private entrance, parking, and grounds, so you have the place to yourselves. Their best highlights include an open-plan dining kitchen, a fireplace, an expansive deck with a view of the valley and River Tay, and an outside fire pit.

It’s easier and more convenient to book tours with the help of Dun Aluinn’s team. They helped us book guides for our walk to the Birks of Aberfeldy and our visit to the Crannog Center.
