Pros
- Have a large team of barbers
- Online booking system available
- Clients can choose their attending barber
- Have comfortable vintage-style chairs
- Barbers are incredibly skilled and personable
Cons
- Relatively young company
- A tad pricey
If you’re someone who treats visits to the barber as well-deserved “me time”, then we highly suggest treating yourself to a luxurious experience at Mr Dun.
Established in 2016, it has garnered a reputation for delivering lavish grooming experiences despite being a relatively young company.
Even so, many of their regulars have raved about how talented the barbers are. What stood out to us the most is that they seem to understand exactly what the client is looking for.
So, it’s no surprise they’re quite popular among locals and tourists.
To accommodate the high demand, they’ve opened up 2 other branches. They also have a handful of barbers on their team, so you won’t have to stress about long queues.
You can easily book an appointment via their online booking system. For extra discerning clients, it’s great that you can choose which barber to do your cut.
As for the parlour, we love that it’s spacious enough that each visitor has a designated space. On top of the aesthetic, we also like how comfortable their vintage-style chairs are, so you won’t have to worry about sitting for long periods.
While their prices are quite reasonable, we find them expensive. Though, given the stellar experience and A+ cuts, we see why many clients don’t have any complaints as far as rates are concerned.

Pros
- Parlour has a fun atmosphere
- There are gaming consoles to use while waiting
- Clients can choose their attending barber
- Barbers are known for giving high-quality fades
- Barbers are known to work with curly and textured hair
Cons
- Quite expensive
- Long waiting times
- Closed on Mondays and Sundays
What we found most unique about Hard Grind is its one-of-a-kind design concept. Thanks to the parlour’s quirky decor, you know you will have a good time here.
They even have several consoles for you to play with whilst waiting for your turn. Though, admittedly, we aren’t a fan of the long waits, as are a few of the clients we’ve gotten in touch with.
On the bright side, their friendly staff members also have a fantastic atmosphere. Based on our experience, they’re always down for a good chat.
Fun and games aside, their barbers are well-known for their skills, especially in giving cool fades.
What we found most notable was that they’re popular for being able to handle curly and textured hair, which is definitely a plus in our book.
However, we think that their prices are on the pricier side. Though, we can’t deny that the experience is special in itself.
On the brighter side, we appreciate how easy it is to book an appointment via their website. We also like how clients can pick out their attending barber.
However, keep in mind that they’re closed on Mondays and Sundays. We also thought it was quite inconvenient that they have long waiting times despite various forms of entertainment on the premises.

Pros
- Offers complete men’s grooming services
- Caters to all hair types
- Barbers are known to curate hairstyles based on clients’ style inspiration, face shape, and personality
- Prices are quite affordable
- Conveniently located at the Aberdeen City Centre
Cons
- Only have 2 barbers
- Irregular business hours
- Closed on Mondays and Sundays
Having opened its doors in 2006, The Men’s Emporium has grown to become a safe space for individuals to fulfil their grooming needs, from haircuts to mani-pedis.
Despite being quite a young company, they’ve already garnered the respect of many Aberdeen locals thanks to their ability to cater to all hair types.
In our experience, their barbers are top-notch as they take the time to listen to our wants yet create a bespoke hairstyle that suits our face shape and personality.
Hence, it didn’t surprise us that their barbers, Denise and Kamil, are well-known in the industry for their talent and expertise.
Having said that, it’s no surprise that many regulars bring their children, some even as young as 1. In our opinion, this says quite a lot about the level of trust many customers bestow on their services.
However, since they’re only 2 on board, we’re afraid this could result in availability issues, especially during peak hours. Even so, we appreciate that they employ a booking system to ensure organisation.
Admittedly, their irregular business hours are a tad confusing. They’re also closed on Mondays and Sundays, so we suggest double-checking to ensure you’ve got the right details.
On the bright side, we find their prices quite affordable, starting from £29 for a standard haircut. You can even get a discounted rate for your cut if you’re a student.

Pros
- Has a reputation for providing first-class service
- Reasonably priced services
- Accepts walk-ins and same-day appointments
- Multi-awarded parlour
- Online payments accepted
- Clients can choose their preferred barber
Cons
- Relatively young company
- Quite a small team
Having just opened in 2016, The Cave Barber Shop is already a multi-awarded parlour that provides clients with grooming services such as haircuts, beard trims, and shaves.
Apart from being reasonably priced, we were impressed with the first-class service. A few clients we’ve spoken to believe that the value for money here is unmatched.
We think it’s also worth mentioning that their barbers have great personalities. So, they don’t have any issues working with children under 12.
Based on our experience, we can attest that their barbers know how to use their equipment. So, we weren’t surprised to learn that many regulars have been getting their haircuts since they first opened.
While booking an appointment online is preferred, we were pleased to find out that they also accept walk-ins and same-day appointments. So, you can pop by on short notice for a spontaneous haircut.
We appreciate the convenience of their online booking as clients can even select their preferred barber. To boot, you can even pay in advance to avoid any hassle.
While we were worried that their 4-person team would result in availability issues, we haven’t encountered any complaints thus far. Even so, it’s still worth keeping in mind when appointment setting.
On a brighter note, they’re open Mondays through Saturdays. Hence, you can stop by at your most convenient time, whether it be on a Saturday morning or right after a day’s work.

Pros
- Family-friendly barber shop
- Provide entertainment for kiddos
- Barbers are versatile
- Online booking system available
- Competitively priced services
Cons
- Quite a small parlour
- Prices may differ upon consultation
The Happy Barber has a solid reputation as a family-friendly barber shop, servicing wee lads to OAPs. So, it’s common for many to make trips to the parlour a family affair.
We were wowed at how they take customer care to the next level. For kiddos, they have sports car chairs and DVDs to keep them entertained throughout the session.
To top it off, they even hand out sweets and stickers as a reward. In our observations, these have definitely made it easier for parents with fussy kids.
When it comes to their barbers’ skills, we were impressed at their versatility. We also appreciate how they take the time to understand your personal style and the look you’re going for.
To boot, their fees are quite competitive, making their services incredibly sought-after given the value for money.
However, it may be a turn-off for some that the prices may differ upon consultation. This is because their barbers are self-employed.
We also like the convenience that their online booking system provides. They even give out customer accounts so you can easily rebook a previous appointment.
Speaking of convenience, they have 3 parlours in Aberdeen – Great Western Road, Portlethen, and Westhill. We think this makes it easier to pop by whichever shop is nearest.
As for the parlour itself, we found it a tad small. They can only accommodate about 3 adults and 3 children simultaneously.

- Great results
Cons
- Limited content on website

The Cleavin Barber Club is a traditional Tonsorial artist and barbershop and the only one of its kind in Aberdeen.
They have a different options for their services depending on the type of cut you want.
If there’s one thing we can vouch is that they give very fantastic haircut. We always get up from our seats satisfied and happy about the cut.
We like that the barbers are very friendly and we get to have great banter with them while we get our haircut.
We’re also impressed by how good the barbers are and how knowledgeable they are. If we ever need advice about our hair, they’re the ones we trust to give the best tips.
Going here is a great experience overall with their great staff and surroundings—we highly recommend!
We do wish they had more information and content on their website other than a link to booking a schedule.
