Pros

  • Situated at a prime location
  • Has a private tub
  • Offers a variety of rooms
  • Property has a lovely patio

Cons

  • Bad WIFI reception
  • Noisy

If you want to be where the action is, then you might want to consider staying at Edinburgh Castle Apartments & Suites.

This building is near Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, which is quite cool. You can also go to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo venue and even view the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from your apartment!

Not all serviced apartments have private tubs, so it’s great that this property has these to help guests relax after a long day.

This apartment also has a variety of rooms available – from deluxe studio suites for lone travelers to 2-bedroom apartments that can host up to four guests.

It is also quite convenient that their front desk is open 24/7. If you need help or have a query, simply call them up.

Now, if the weather is good, you can hang out at the apartment’s secluded patio. There, guests can choose to socialise with other guests or simply park themselves on a bench and enjoy the splendid city views.

Some residents have shared with us, however, that the building’s WiFi reception is quite bad. It seems this hotel is not the best choice for residents who require a work-from-home set-up unless they have backup WiFi ready.

Also, being at the centre of everything comes at a price. Guests have shared how noisy the streets can be, even after hours.

Still, if you are there to simply tour Edinburgh, then do consider staying here as it is very near various tourist sites.

Pros

  • Apartment is located centrally
  • Has a charming rooftop terrace
  • Kitchen is well-stocked upon arrival
  • Offers daily cleaning services

Cons

  • Is a bit pricey
  • Noise can be heard from outside
  • A little wear and tear can be seen

Like Edinburgh Castle Apartments & Suites, Princes Street Suites is also located at a prime spot.

In fact, it is only a 4-minute walk from the Edinburgh train station. It is also only a 10-minute walk from the Royal Mile – a street full of pubs and restaurants – and Holyrood Palace.

What’s unique about Princes Street Suites is that it has a lovely rooftop terrace. Guests we’ve spoken to raved about the fantastic city views you can see from the terrace.

We also love the fact that this serviced apartment is well-prepared in terms of welcoming guests. For instance, guests loved how well-stocked their fridge was with staples such as tea, coffee, and cookies upon their arrival.

In terms of rooms, they offer studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. If you are in the mood to splurge, you can even book their luxurious three bedroom penthouse.

A word of warning, though: due to its great location, it is pricier than other serviced apartments. For instance, during peak season, an apartment that can house 6 guests can cost up to £459 daily.

Again, since it is centrally located, noise can’t be helped as well. We recommend buying earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

Guests also noticed some wear and tear in the apartments. Some mentioned the peeling paint on the walls while others pointed out the chipped kitchen worktops.

If the price and the noise bother you, then this might not be the best option for you. But then again, that’s the price one tends to pay for accessibility – and in this case, it seems to be worth it.

Pros

  • Has sleek, modern units
  • Walking distance to great attractions
  • Offers a gym, bar, and self-service pantry
  • Works at promoting sustainability

Cons

  • Does not accept pets
  • Limited room variety
  • Strict non-smoking policy in rooms or communal areas

If you enjoy staying in sleek, modern units, then we recommend Wilde Aparthotels by Staycity, Grassmarket, Edinburgh. We think the rooms are done up beautifully in wood and white colours, with bold black accents.

Not only are the rooms attractive, but the location is also quite awesome. For instance, this place is within walking distance of The Real Mary King’s Close, the National Museum of Scotland, the Scott Monument, and the Scotch Whisky Experience!

We are also impressed by the amenities of this building. It has its own gym, a bar, and even a 24/7 self-service pantry where you can buy grocery items to cook in your very own kitchen.

In addition, we commend the sustainability efforts of this serviced apartment building. They have an initiative wherein they pledge to minimise greenhouse gas emissions and reduce waste.

One big con of this place, however, is that it does not allow pets. Thus, if you are a fur parent, you would need to stay elsewhere.

In addition, the largest room type they can offer is the Superior Double Room, which has an extra large double bed and one sofa bed. Thus, for those with big families, this is not the apartment for you.

This place also has a strict non-smoking policy in all of their rooms or communal areas.

But, if you love staying in a modern place with various amenities, we think it’s worth booking a stay at this lovely serviced apartment in Edinburgh.

Pros

  • Award-winning
  • Located at the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town
  • Luckenbooths Bar & Restaurant at the ground floor
  • Pet-friendly
  • 24/7 gym

Cons

  • Intermittent WIFI
  • Very noisy especially at the lower floors

Cheval Old Town Chambers is an award-winning serviced apartment building located at the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town.

First off, it is located right on the Royal Mile, and you can have your pick of numerous pubs and restaurants on this street.

However, if you do not feel like going out, simply visit Luckenbooths Bar & Restaurant on the ground floor. We recommend going here for fine dining dishes made from the best local produce available.

We love the fact that this place is pet-friendly. It’s an ideal place to do staycations with your pets or bring them along for extended travel.

For the fitness junkies or those who have a strict fitness regimen, you’d be happy to know that this place has a gym that’s open 24/7.

They also offer several room types which are convenient for everyone – from those with big families, to couples and singles as well. They even have a charming open plan apartment as well as a perfectly curated townhouse!

Like Edinburgh Castle Apartments, however, this place has patchy WiFi, so you might noy want to rely on their WiFi if you have something important to do online.

Guests have also complained about the noise, especially those staying at the lower floors. They clearly heard the front door of the restaurant as guests came and went, thus disrupting their sleep.

If you and your fur baby do decide to stay here, we think that you should request a room on the upper floors to avoid the noise downstairs.

Pros

  • Located at Edinburgh’s premier shopping and leisure area
  • Provides good value for your money
  • Has an elegant homey vibe
  • Comes with a stocked kitchen and in-unit laundry

Cons

  • Wheelchair accessibility not available
  • Broken appliances were reported
  • Staff was not responsive

We think Sonder Royal Garden Apartments is one of the top serviced apartment buildings in Edinburgh.

The first reason is because it is situated at Edinburgh’s premier shopping and leisure area. In fact, just outside its doors is The Scottish National Portrait Gallery.

Another reason why we think this is a great pick is that it is quite affordable, with the rent starting at £293 daily.

The apartments are also quite stylish. Each apartment has an elegant yet homey vibe, with its patterned wallpapers and soft hues.

Sadly, wheelchair accessibility is not available in this building. Those who are in wheelchairs would have to book their stay elsewhere.

Some guests also told us that some apartments had broken appliances upon their arrival. Some of these items were extractor fans and dishwashers, and these made the guests’ stays quite inconvenient.

Lastly, there were complaints about the staff’s inattentiveness as well. After making requests, guests had to wait for days before someone responded to them.

Hopefully, they’ll be able to work on these issues in order to satisfy more guests in the future.

As a whole, for those on a tight budget, we still recommend this place due to its great location and stylish rooms.
