Just over an hour’s drive lies the picturesque Cairnie Fruit Farm where you can hand-pick the freshest strawberries, raspberries, redcurrants, and blackcurrants, among 45 other fruits grown on their 120-acre plot of land.

Unlike others, this family-run farm doesn’t require any pre-booking; just be sure to be there before 3:45 PM which is when they close their pick-your-own (PYO) fruits.

Afterwards, you can let your little ones play at the children’s area or relax at the farm’s outdoor café. Oh, you can even bring your furry pal as long as they’re on a lead.

Pro tip: 

Make sure to check out their calendar of the approximate best times to pick certain fruits. This way, you’ll be able to harvest your favorite fruits when they’re in season.

We also think it’s worth highlighting that their strawberries are grown on wires, specifically on polytunnels, so you don’t have to worry about breaking your back getting into small nooks and crannies!

Briarlands Farm offers a ton of other fun activities such as go-karting and berry picking. Older children can play around in the 5-acre maze while the wee ones can enjoy the petting zoo.

With Broadslap’s location that’s 51 miles away from Glasgow, you can enjoy picking your own fruits. Plus, for a fuller basket, you can drop by their gift shop where they sell produce made from their harvests while the kiddos play at their playbarn.

Less than an hour east is Craigie Farm located in South Queensferry Edinburgh. First opened in 1988, this fourth-generation farm now welcomes over 260,000 visitors yearly.

To best enjoy their PYO, you’ll need to book an entry voucher online first. Then when you arrive, they’ll hand you a map and basket, then you’re all set for your fruit-picking adventure!

When you’re done, you can check out their farm animals, see how their jams are made, or stop by their bakery for some freshly made goods.
